The HIDDEN side of Van Life 👀

In today's van life episode I took my campervan to Sofia which is the capital city of Bulgaria. I took a walk through the city so you can get a feel for what it's like. But the main purpose of this video is to reveal the truth behind what van life is really like. I show you some of the things that you never usually see through social media and van life channels.
I show how to take a shower in a van that has no fixed shower. How to shave, and I even reveal my camping toilet hack. And of course we have a bit of fun along the way!

A general rule of cooking when dealing with liquids and powders - add a small amount of liquid into the powders and stir to make it into a thick paste *before* gradually adding more of the liquid as you stir - it'll stop all those nasty clumps forming - might make the greens a little easier to take! lol

Glad to see you have heading up into Bulgaria. I bought a house there 6 years ago and spend a few months of each year there. I assume you will be heading up towards Vidin in the north and across into Romania? The road from Sofia takes you across the Petrohan pass (if its still open - snow closes it) which is a great drive. Our house was the kick off point for the drive into Turkey and Greece.

Healthy food doesn’t have to be awful. I used to think that too. The thing is if you look past all the fake stuff advertising tells you go watch Dr Berg. You can learn things like, eating high quality steaks is actually very nutritious and we’ve been fed lies. Though if you don’t buy high quality, grass fed beef steak, you may as well not bother.😅 Anyway what I really enjoy in your videos is when you go somewhere exciting like those temples up in those rocks and send out the digital bird. I think you could build more on that element. So when are you going to tell us about this other channel?

Great video as always. i worked in Bulgaria for two years and its a mess. Beautiful buildings, Nice people but corruption is rife. Check all the cars out if you see a good one i’ll pretty much guarantee it will have Russian number plates

That's how I deal with liquids and solids too. Yes. You keep a very clean van and it's a pleasure to see. Some people can't ever seem to keep clean and organized and it just fills me with anxiety, lol. I can't watch those ones. I wonder how that Bulgarian hotdog was.... It's been a very good trip so far. Mostly because you're funny. Otherwise, you're completely opposite to me. You go towards cities and I look for rural areas/countryside. Interesting to see 😊 Lauren😊

You must go to Belgrade. The pedestrian street (shopping) is Knez Mihailova, more lively and glamorous for sure, (big shops and street musicians), leading to Kalemegdan fortress and confluence of Danube and Sava rivers, beautiful churches, and McDonald's is there too. But Serbian food is better :) Everyone speaks English. Maybe you can get to Bosnia and Montenegro from Serbia. Coast is nicer in Spring though. Places to see in Belgrade: Knez Mihailova street (shopping street) Kalemegdan fortress Sava&Danube Waterfront Skadarlija bohemian street Churches (St. Marko, St. Sava, St.Michael, St.Petka, Ružica, Aleksandar Nevski and more) Ada Ciganlija artificial lake (Belgrade's "sea" in Summer) Belgrade Waterfront Botanical Garden Museums, parks Food markets (pijaca) especially on weekends - Bajloni, Kalenić, Zeleni venac Cafés and clubs everywhere, international cuisine Serbia also has beautiful mountains and rivers, villages, lakes, monasteries. Zlatar, Zlatibor, Divčibare, Ovčar&Kablar, Tara, Mokra Gora ("Drvengrad" famous "Wood City" where film festivals take place - Emir Kusturica) Uvac canyon Đerdap Monastery Manasija (and Studenica, Mileševa and many more) Smederevo fortress You may get in the Serbian populated province of Bosnia Srpska Krajina easier from Serbia, possibly also into Montenegro - Tara canyon, Boka Bay would be a pity to miss)

If you decide to built another van, look for electric toilet, no need for powder or chemical products but bags like the coffee machine ones bigger obviously. However they are a bit pricey. You can get cheaper by making the bags yourself just buy a roll of paper. Also for the shower, look what they have done very clever and no need to put away and the hassle for a shower. kzbin.info2wGsWZ4582A And to mix the green protein powder, I guess it was protein use a mini whisk it will make it easier.

Not sure if you mean the Cinderella toilet? If so it uses too much power to run from a battery. 1 ‘flush’ would drain an entire large lithium. And the gas version requires far too much gas. Or if you meant the dry toilets I’m not a fan. Heard some bad things about them. I think my current toilet is by far the best option. I’d love a fixed shower though!

There’s barely any daylight hours at this time of year so it’s far better to be able to explore an area during the daylight than to sit on a motorway. It’s best to use all the daylight hours for filming

I can’t remember the brand off the top of my head but it was ridiculously expensive and the flap mechanism is cheap and useless so I wouldn’t recommend it anyway. There’s plenty of cheaper ones I’ve seen that would’ve been better
