Hey guys just wanted to say that I really enjoyed watching this build. I have been a fan of the Ae86 since watching Initial D In high school and would love to get one soon...Thanks for showing us how your doing it!

the links hold the rear end in place, and the brackets lower 2 of the mounting points giving it a better hold on the rear and to preventing wheel hop

@ Corolla Guy I also use a separate setup on my 86. I use Eibach 6KG springs and TRD short stroke 8 way adjustable shocks in the rear. It works AWESOME! You would also have to strengthen the rear end of the chassi if you we're going for the rear coil overs, or the chassi would bend after some time. So a separate setup is epic, agreed! :)

@pcfxer. With alignment angles being so slight, being 0.1 degrees out, you'll feel the pull and so will your tires. Besides, Freddy's right about wanting a proper alignment. I work in a shop as a tire monkey, and I work with like 14 techs, of which like 6 or 7 who do performance mods at work or at home, and all recommend a proper alignment. A proper alignment is the difference between making the corner or slamming into that pole on the corner at like 80 mile an hour

Hey, just so ya know, you can usually lift and place stands on the pinch weld, so long as its not rusted to shit

What are the purposes of the bracket and links?

@Jason Angulo, For now the tokicos and TRD sport springs fit my driving style. Many people under-rate what a "good" spring\strut setup can do and jump immediately to coilovers and end up getting worse performance by not setting them up properly.

YA LETS PUT TE JACK STAND ON THE MOUNTING POINT TO IT SQUEEZE TOGATHER SO WE CAN GET THE ARM OUT LOL
@PoorManMods11 жыл бұрын
we know of that method, but we have never done it. We'd rather just get professionally done

Is no one going to acknowledge the fart twins going on here?! I haven't laughed this hard at a KZbin video since I first saw the fart scene in Step Brothers.

Can I, and probably hundreds of others, ask humbly, and with all my heart, how you remove those god forsaken stuck as god diggety damn 4-link bolts? I picked up a TA40 axle (same 6,7" as AE86, drums, not as wide) where the 4-links were cut in two just to have the axle removed. I want to upgrade my leaf spring rear end wagon to 4-link. I have the nuts on the bolts off, and the bolts can be easily turned by two fingers on the wrench, but they just wont come out of the #"&#%¤/& brackets :(

You have to remove the nut first. Once you do that, it will actually be possible to remove the bolt. If you try to remove on the bolt side (inside) it will never budge. You would need a lot more leverage and force. I ended up getting a u-joint (impact grade) for my impact, and getting a short 17mm. It just takes some finessing. But that nut keeps the factory torque.

Quick question, I have an SR5 but I want to change my drums to pads. Would you know where I could find a kit/instructions on how to do that?
@PoorManMods9 жыл бұрын
Probably on club4ag
@ivanbelen99668 жыл бұрын
you would need a gts rear end for disc brakes
@GreggyAnt8 жыл бұрын
I know the GTS has rear end disc brakes, I was just wondering how to do the conversion lol.
@ivanbelen99668 жыл бұрын
You need to buy a rear end from a gts and stick it on there. Theres no other way to do it. There were some disc brake kits conversion for the sr5 rear but i wouldnt know where to get it and if its still available. Your best bet is to get a gts rear
@ianirwin12377 жыл бұрын
As said before, search Club4AG, tons of info about this question there. But Ivan is right, you're going to basically need a GTS rear for plug and play. There are other options like sourcing a Celica rear-end, but to my knowledge that is not plug and play and will requiring welding and/or fabrication.

Question, how do you adjust the 4 links, is it ok for daily driving?
@PoorManMods10 жыл бұрын
just loosen the jam nuts and twist the rod to either lengthen or shorten the link, and yes this is ok for daily driving
