In today's AE86 trueno coupe project update video, we start the process of shaving the engine bay. We are shooting for the jdm project car AE86 s found in japan. The shaved bay is going to look perfect with a 4age 16v from a 1991 Toyota trueno coupe ae92. Future videos will outline the whole process on how to shave a engine bay / tucked engine bay .We also battle an insanely stuck tie rod end. I show you how to remove a stuck tie rod and go over the process I resorted to when it wouldn't free up. What a nightmare!
We also touch base on the 4age engine swap for the ae86 trueno coupe . I am going to be swapping a 4age 16v and also doing something a little special with it to make the ae86 build a little more unique. The toyota corolla ae86 4age project is well underway and I cannot wait to get the 4age 16v in! Save the 4age 16v! ea86 ae68 corrola toyoda

when you snapped that ball joint splitter there was only one word that come to my head "Kurwa" which in Polish means "Fuck" but much stronger :P

That's why is always better th o buy good brand tools they are expensive but they won't brake

Yeah I am learning my lesson on this build. Harbor freight does have some tools that are cheap and work, but it seems to always be a toss up. I have a couple Pittsburgh crow bars that work great, I figured this one should work well too. Oh well, you live and learn, I just hope others learn from my mistakes haha. Thanks for watching!

I've got some worse rust under my brake booster I'm anxious to see how you'll be fixing rust in those areas. I'm worried I'll have to find a wrecked car n cut n reweld in that part of my firewall. Idk I haven't poked too much at the rust mostly from fear lol Also I bet if you located an air chisel that tie rod woulda been a little easier... maybe. But good job knuckle still looks useable 😀
@TheBSRecord

I'm not quite sure yet of how I am going to tackle it. Hopefully it isn't too bad and a wire wheel will he able to take care of most of it. Sometime you just have to show that rust who's boss and tackle it head on. If it senses your fear it will keep spreading! 🤣 but on a serious note, goodluck with your build and thanks for the support!

Such a joy working on older cars, simple things but hard, stupidly hard to get everything in and out! But go get the chassis first. Rust kills cars!

So true, old cars always come with their fair share of issues. I definitley need to tackle that rust and get it all fixed up! Thanks for watching!

man, you broke the tool twice, lol, just like i snaped my rear break caliper bracket bolt, i snaped it lol. at least u can always get ur money back from harbor freight brand( pitsbur i think). and offcourse the other side was super easy, same as for my brake job, the front was a breeze, the rear caliper braket bolts were all rusted out and snaped the second turn my wrench, luckily i got the bolt remover kit and drill it out and get new bolt.
@TheBSRecord
@TheBSRecord 5 жыл бұрын
I feel your pain man 🤣 After the second break, I really turned up the heat on my welder and laid down a nice deep bead. Hopefully it is better now than new from the store. I guess we will just have to wait and see the next time I use it. I've been down the brake system struggles too, it sucks! But hey, at least we fixed both our issues 😎👍 thanks for watching!

Get the motor running on the ground mate easy as with a carby setup. Although if wanting to weld up bay holes might pay to get it running in there first so you know what holes need to be kept, don't want to have to drill holes in your nicely painted bay!
@TheBSRecord
@TheBSRecord 5 жыл бұрын
That was my exact though, glad you mentioned it here. Part of the reason why I want to install the engine in the bay and then try to start it first, is to make sure I have everything hooked up and mounted right. That way I know what holes I need and which ones I can weld up. Thanks for tuning in and the suggestion!

Search up gulling I think that’s what happen to your tie rod
@TheBSRecord
@TheBSRecord 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, but I'm not sure what you mean by "gulling". If you are referring to me getting tricked or decieved on how to remove it, I can assure you it was in fact stuck and a complete pain in the you know what to remove haha 🤣 I will admit though, buying that cheap tool and thinking it would work definitly got me lol. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!

Me personally I wouldn’t bolt the engine into the engine bay but I would “prop” it there as I am sure you would want to wire tuck the harness. I have other suggestions as well.... Seeing that you are removing the heater core I would try to utilize one of the holes on the fire wall from said heater core and run the engine harness there as it would hide the wires. From then you can figure out where to route the wires. Once that’s done I would see what holes you don’t need and circle all that is being used and start welding unused holes. Then take motor out and start by taking off all seam sealer and possibly stitch weld them.(or reseam seal them) Once all is done start painting 👌🏼
@TheBSRecord
@TheBSRecord 5 жыл бұрын
Great suggestions man! I am actually planning on using the heater core holes to run all the wiring just like you mentioned above! I see cars in Japan with tucked bays doing the same thing. I also plan on using removable block off plates to "plug" the larger holes just in case I ever decide to reuse them. Thanks for tuning in and all the suggestions!

Another sweet video dude.!! Go hard on the Bay, get that done shave it etc.! Nothing like a good shaved bay.! Then chuck the engine in, 4ages are pretty bullet proof so i would be surprised if it doesnt work straight away.!! And easy enough to pull in the future too if it turns out bad.

Why dont you try to start the engine outside of the car? That way you dont have to take the engine out again when you shave the bay.
@TheBSRecord
@TheBSRecord 5 жыл бұрын
I have actually been toying around with that idea too. With the bay shaved and all the unnecessary components removed, installing the pulling the engine should be a much easier task than pulling the 4ac was. At least that's what I am hoping for. If this is the case, I would rather install the engine and make sure everything lines up, sits right, and works. Plus I am itching to see the 4age in the car haha! Thanks for watching and supporting the cahnnel!

Definitely thought about it but haven't made up my mind yet. I will be doing that or probably resealing the seams with seam sealer, but in a much cleaner way. Thanks for tuning in and the suggestion!

I think it would be best to fit the engine and everything first, then proceed to welding up any unused holes. It'll be more work and take longer, but hopefully you won't accidentally weld up a hole that you later end up needing.
@TheBSRecord

Yeah I am right there with you. I would be so mad if I got everything welded up and prepped then discover a hole that I need to re-drill. Thanks for always tuning in man!
