Great review. I forgot about this bag from Aer. My brother likes his travel pack 3. An alternative to the pro pack 24 is the Osprey Proxima. It’s basically an EDC and smaller Farpoint 40.

AS always, an outstanding, detailed and invaluable review. I bought this bag when it first came out, and am using it as my EDC. It is close to perfect.....Problem is..I saw your review of the Able Carry Max and was so impressed, I bought that as well! You are costing me a fortune - and I'll certainly buying the Fyro backpack when you launch!

So, I prefer the aesthetic and X-Pac fabric of the Able Carry (and the Ocean Blue colour). It is bigger than the Aer, but not noticeably so, and it is the most comfortable bag I've ever used. The Aer is brilliantly designed, and the front and valet pockets are more user friendly than the ACM. Overall, I prefer the Able Carry and it has the extra capacity to double as a two-night/weekend travel bag too@@nolainnogain

Yes, I think Aaron and a few others too have resulted in me becoming a bag-nerd. Now I watch backpack reviews, and my wife says “not another backpack”. I too purchased the Able Carry. Definitely comfortable for sure! I actually use that for EDC right now, and have used it for travel. But I have another larger travel backpack on order elsewhere right now as well.

I like aer stuff, but the pro line seems to have the straps mounted more narrowly than their other stuff. With my neck and shoulders a wider stance works better for me. I like the handles on this one though, nice touch.

As always, thanks for the reviews! I watch a lot of them when deciding a bag. It would be useful if you would pack the bags for EDC as well as for a week, since I am interested to see how it looks half full for that sleek EDC for the majority of the time and the weekend trip 10% of the time. Its good to see how much it can fit, but yeah most useful to see an every day scenario how the bag looks when packed

Great review, thanks! I have to stop buying bags… 😅 but I fell for the Aer pro series… the material feels nice and durable. I have not yet had the opportunity to use my 24 a lot, it was in storage during a recent move that took more time than expected but would have been the bag i needed during some short recent trips. Great size and organisation for a few days to a week. I quite like the additional top pocket, it’s one of the unique features of this bag. great place for an ipad mini. provides additional easy access to smaller items im transit and a great complement to the front pocket. one design omission here, given its position i think it also needs a weather proof zipper… that said, l tend to take a rain cover for the wetter days…

Hi Aaron, I just watched this and your city pack pro reviews and they were extremely helpful - thank you. I'm trying to decide on which to buy but I'm still not sure which is the best fit for my potentially odd use case. I'm after the biggest bag that will (should) fit under the seat on most airlines but especially those in Asia and budget European airlines. The city pack pro is fractionally smaller dimension wise vs the pro pack and those dimensions seem to be closest to what's on various airline sites so am i right in assuming this is the pack for me or is the pro pack fine? Which ever I choose will be used as my minimal travel bag along with a sling. Any advice is most appreciated, TIA, Christopher

I'm deciding between this and the Mystery Ranch Catalyst 26L. A dedicated laptop compartment is essential. The top-heavy nature of Catalyst is kind of annoying especially if it is not fully packed. With the Aer PP24 I have heard mixed comments regarding the valet pocket at the top and the double-sided flimsy feeling dividers in it.

I found your comparison to the Aer City Pack Pro interesting. The Aer website has the Pro Pack 24L as having larger dimensions than the City Pro Pack, but you said the City Pro Pack felt larger. City Pro Pack 18x12x7.5. Pro Pack 24L 18.5x12.5x7.5. I just bought the City Pro Pack as I'm trying to meet American Airlines underseat size limits (18x14x8), but the bag felt a bit smaller than I wanted, so I was checking out the Pro Pack 24L wondering if I could pass it off as fitting. Having the aer CPP and noticing only one internal zippered pocket there this was what I expected. They use each other's space a bit so it might have been nicer to have the internal zips of the CPP (one stretch and one flat). I notice that I don't have a lot of room in the bottom one due to the front one housing my headphones and it pushing into it's space. The top one with stretch has a lot of it's own volume even though the front one is packed as well.

This doesn't seem like a $200 (USD) backpack to me. Especially when I think about what I get in my backpacks from Peak Design, Bellroy and Black Ember. Their aesthetic is nice - excluding the new branding - but the lack of PU coated zippers throughout, elasticated storage sections, material diversity/thoughtfulness and the "thrown in there" organization make it seem as though Aer didn't really try when other brands and their offerings often, or regularly seem incredibly well-considered. I've considered Aer a few times when looking for a new backpack but other brands appear to set a standard that Aer falls short of, based on a multitude of reviews I've read and seen on their offerings.

I can see it from your point of view, though, if looking at the US MSRPs and current prices, which have increase for the Peak Design and Black Ember bags since I purchased them.
