Excellent. I had the great privilege of spending time with Michael a few weeks prior to his passing. I received him at the airport in Houston on his Oracle tour in October 1997. We spent time in his hotel room talking (& smokin' out) and he made me this fantastic apple/ginger juice (he traveled with a juicer). Around that time the G3 tour was coming through Houston featuring Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson & Adrian Legg as the acoustic opener. Michael told me he was offered the opening slot of that tour, but he turned it down because they would not let him headline. We also discussed Pat Martino’s album ‘All Sides Now’ which Michael was featured on. Michael told me he’d had Joe Satriani (also on that CD) and Pat Martino at his home studio for some recording sessions prior to the release of that album. In December 1997, I remember sitting in my office and the secretary walking up to my desk and handing me a fax from Michael’s agency SRO Artists. I was deeply saddened when I read the fax announcing Micheal’s passing. I immediately left work, went home, and played guitar to honor Michael and drown out my sorrow. I was incredibly moved by Michael during our brief meeting. I’m grateful for his presence then and now

Andy, you inspired me to pick up the guitar well over a decade ago. Last year after going through some personal hardships I sold my guitar to pay the bills, one of the saddest times in recent memory. I'm finally getting in the groove again and will be ordering another guitar here very shortly. I just wanted to thank you and let you know that you're a massive inspiration to many, many people. Thank you for all you do brother, stay safe out there. Can't wait to see you in Colorado Springs again eventually!

Andy please don't judge the success/helpfulness of these videos by the views/rev. These videos will help COUNTLESS get into this style of playing directly/ otherwise. Getting these kind of breakdowns from the boss is one of the best things that could ever help me learn your style of playing, and my current progress with Ebon Coast will speak volumes considering I knew nothing about fingerstyle/travis-picking just 10 days back, despite being a guitarist for 15 years or so. Much love and hope your family is safe.

Andy, thank you so so much for this! I first heard Aerial Boundaries around 1985, and it altered my DNA. I “discovered “ a whole new style of music, became a huge Wyndham Hill fan, and favoured the fingerstyle acoustic sound over any other type of music. Having finally purchased my first guitar exactly one year ago, I am so excited and happy to have the opportunity to learn my favourite guitar piece of all time (hey, I found out about you searching for Aerial Boundaries interpretations!). This is an unreal piece of music. The mind that conceived this! I have the sheet music.Your instruction is nice. The right hand makes this piece live; helps to be trained correctly. Your performances of this amazingly have all the pieces there, well done! But it needs more breath and feeling; keep flowing with it and forget yourself. I have never heard anyone make this music really breathe and move the way Michael did.

So great to see any sort of video whatsoever from you Andy - even one just saying 'hi' that lasted a second would have been awesome. But thankyou for doing this! Kinda tempted to attempt this song, but I know that it would never result in a clean playthrough, just a greater level of ability on the guitar... i'm not sure why that's a 'just'. I guess this isn't the right place for these two questions but i'm fascinated by the necklaces, do they mean anything to you? or do they provide any kind of mental or spiritual grounding? Also curious how this song in particular, ranks in your realm of 'if you can play this, you can figure out anything'? or if there's a greater song in terms of overall challenge that still succeeds in creating a musically rich piece. (in the acoustic fingerstyle realm, of course, i imagine these songs wont turn anyone into EVH / MAB). Well wishes Andy! You're the man, man. My experience with consuming and creating music would be significantly less vibrant without your contributions to this aural world. Stay safe and stay gold in all this pandemic stuff!

I am not sure about the beat where you start to play the C with the thumb. You put it on the pull off, but in the original version I hear it on the hammer on, on the 1st beat of the measure. I hear it on the pull off only in 2 measures if I remember right.
@gyigyu1 Жыл бұрын
You are right. He plays wrong rhythm. The c with the thumb is on the first beat originally. He plays with a sixteenth earlier. That's why you hear 2 + 3 hammer on from 12:35...
