Gimbal modes - I think perhaps you skimmed over this key subject a bit - here's my standard explanation which might help people who are puzzled - In FPV mode (which should have been called 'Unlocked' mode), the gimbal head will follow the direction of the camera handle without restriction - though the movement will be smoothed. It means that the Pocket will behave like any other camera, apart from the smoothed movement. In Follow mode - which should have been called 'Horizon Lock' mode - the gimbal head will always stay horizontal. This means that you don't have to worry about keeping the horizon straight. The camera will look after itself in that respect, and that's handy because with the tiny screen, it's hard to tell if the horizon is exactly straight or not. Note that "Follow Mode" has nothing at all to do with tracking a face or other subject. This mode is perhaps the most often used. In Tilt Lock mode, which should have been called 'Tilt and Horizon Lock' mode (except that's too long) the camera behaves the same as in Follow mode (horizon always straight) but in addition, the gimbal will point ahead in one direction. If you move the handle, you won't be able to point the camera up to the sky or down to your feet. You can set it to straight ahead using the 'recenter' option, and you can adjust it down to your feet or up to the sky using the little slider on the right side of the screen. It will then stay pointing at the sky or your feet (or anywhere between) regardless of handle movement. In all these modes, it's always possible to pan the camera from side to side. If you want to lock that axis as well as the axes locked by Tilt Lock, you'll have to use the controller wheel accessory and hold down the right hand button on the controller. That makes the camera point in a constant direction, regardless of how you move the handle, thus preventing panning. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the concise explanations and "should have been called"!!
@dacbuc9 ай бұрын
Well, to me it seems that FPV mode should have been called FOLLOW, since the camera follows all the 3 axis handle movements, but smoother. FOLLOW should have been named ROLL LOCK, as the camera will try to get vertical lines as vertical as possible. Tilting and panning will still follow the handle movements. And TILT LOCK should be TILT & ROLL LOCK, as only panning will follow the handle movements.

Hey there - sounds like you need to adjust your white balance! If you're adjusting manually (you should. be doing this for the most consistent results), you'll have to adjust your white balance when going from an indoor to mid-day outdoor scene to an outdoor night scene. If you're manually adjusting white balance, and still not getting the "pop" of colors you're looking for - try to shoot in a log profile and color grade it on your computer to get more punchy results. Hope this helps, thanks for watching and commenting.

The bummer about this camera is that none of the accessories can really be combined. The accessories that plug into the bottom of the camera will have ports that are useful for powering the Osmo only so you can't use a wireless mic (using the Osmo branded audio adapter) AND charge your Osmo with the handheld charger at the same time. The cellphone Osmo combination will burn your Osmo battery because the Osmo will be charging your phone while it's plugged in.The point of this camera is you can only ever use ONE cool accessory at a time, which greatly limits what you can do with it for pro recording.
@keith-knittel4 жыл бұрын
Combining accessories is definitely a gripe of mine, the biggest stemming from the need to have an adapter to use wireless with the Osmo Pocket. Every camera these days has wifi baked into the product without the need to have an external adapter. I hope on the version 2 of the OP this gets addressed. I have run into a few situations where I wasn't able to use all the accessories I wanted to but the pros outweigh the cons for me by a long shot. I do understand your frustration though. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Ok, what about osmo pocket’s mic adapter? Not only DJI charges you a premium for what is a cheap piece of plastic and makes it impossible to use a third party equivalent adapter but, at least outside of the USA this item is impossible to find. I even managed to buy it from a local reseller, I am in the UK, to be told the day before delivery (a good three weeks after I ordered it) that it was out of stock and would not be back in stock for another month at least. Furthermore, two-three days later, I received a stock reminder by DJI (as I had registered with their service before finding out that a UK reseller had one in stock) that the item was back in stock. Nevertheless, when I tried to buy it from their store (I received the reminder at 11.30pm and I saw the email only two hours later when I tried to buy it from their online store) I could not buy it and customer service told me that it was out of stock and tried to convince me to buy it from an American resellers for close to double its price (plus possible import tax by UK customs).

Some tips are really useful for me. Not that others aren't but I just happen to know them already. Your camera moves are pretty smooth. Thanks for the vid.

Great tips for the DJI Osmo pocket. Any ND filter brand you recommend?

Hey there Travel Quest, I typically go with Polar Pro or Freewell filters. I'm currently using the DJI filters, and have no complaints yet! The DJI filters are even and don't scratch easily. Thanks for watching and commenting.

what mode and setting should I use in trick #7 and #8

You could use fpv or follow and manually move the camera yourself. I think I was in follow mode and manually moving the camera while tilting the camera in the app as well for those shots, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Thanks for watching and commenting!

So you are walking on a trail and you shut out the sounds of nature and the environment and listen to music on your headphones?

New subscriber and OP owner. Having watched dozens and dozens of OP videos and this one is near the top if not #1. Bonus points for not beginning with, “Wazzup guys?” 🛎⭐️🏆Currently having some problems distinguishing the uses for the different video modes. Examples if possible. Thanks so much.

Thanks for watching and subscribing! I’ll add the different video modes to my todo list! As weird as it sounds, starting a KZbin video is tough, I try to get to the point as fast as possible!

Came to watch this video after checking out the DJI Pocket 2 tips one. Great info and I've subscribed to your channel because you deliver great content. Quick question on this video (I know it was done a couple of years ago) - in the section on grid lines around the 5min 20 mark where you're panning along a river in the snow, the video looks very choppy as you're walking along. What's causing that?

Glad it was helpful! For the walking at 5:20, thats a screen recording of my phone. The video on the screen recordings isn't the best, I was using the default screen recording feature on iOS of the mimo app so it's pretty stuttery compared to the footage on the Osmo Pocket. Thanks for watching and your support, Tim! Sorry this is such a late response as well.
