The devs probably have no clue that dive bombers have air brakes to slow them down so much they are floaty. Imagine getting sunk by a CV secondaries in a cruiser ^_^;;;

To be blunt, if you kill three planes out of three, you have prevented the strike; something you generally can't do against a full squadron on the live server because it keeps on filling up from the top. From my matches on the TST server, this rework is basically a return to RTS. If your AA is weak, you will at most, shoot down 1 plane. If your AA is strong, you could wipe out the attack wing. If they want this rework to work, they should reintroduce strong fighter play from CVs, otherwise surface ships could potentially not shoot down enough planes for it to matter to the CV. In addition to this, AA no longer shoots at planes as they climb out after the drop. IDK if this is a bug, or intended, regardless, i ran Conceal mod over Flight deck mod and i never felt i ran out of planes *ever*. (FURTHER confirmed by Hidden Menace) Considering current CV balance, the rework as it is, strengthens CVs like Nakhimov, Essex, Malta, FDR as those attack wings either have extremely tanky planes or really large squads, so losing one or two planes won't affect the efficacy of the final drop. In addition, Essex's fighters will be even more potent considering planes at high altitude are blind. With the recent changes, base CV fighters are utterly useless as they are a straight downgrade from Essex CAP fighters. The prep time reduction still doesn't save dive bombers as they require precise timing. In addition to this, they also act as level bombers at the very end of their runs. You can still control your plane's speeds, it's just perma locked to max speed but you can slow down. (Confirmed by the flaps and a visible slow down), they just need to add a UI indicator of such. DFAA is purely a blinding tool now, so you can't expect to shoot down more planes. Whether this is a good thing or not is something i'm not sure of, since on the one hand a lot of ships have DFAA now (including BBs) which is a significant change from the RTS era, but on the other, people will still complain that they are not shooting down planes.

Yeah, the neeed to re-add the squadron's air brakes. Maybe not boost/overdrive, but the ability to slow down should be available. But other than that, and maybe some bombers having 4 per flight, I like these changes.

Dear Aerroon although I respect you as a CC I DO not share your enthusiasm for this revork. What worries me most is that all CC playing HAKURYU and NONe seems to care about other TIERS The fact that the new AA is so powerful is something that should be tested also at tier VIII / VI . Imagine being bottom tier now for a CV???? in current sistem you can start the game spotting for your team and gaining XP. In the new system spotting is misaerable therefore bottom tier CV will BE (not feel ) useless.

With regards to anti air, I would rather shoot down 1 to 3 planes and not get struck or reduced strike than shooting down 5 planes and still having a full strike against me.

Your idea of a spoting plane would be nice you could have a tactical squad that drops some sonobuoys that spots ships within x range but have it work like a submarine hydro where it updates the map but only spots within close range. Ill have to try the test server at some point. I always felt the rts cv was the best (to play) but also understand why the re rework is needed

I had once the suggestion in forum ,that spotting and attacking should be seperated. That a CV can launch a spotter plane to spot. Instead of attacking, he gets a binocular view to tag enemies, which take more dmg for a while. The spotter plane gets counter by DDs and CLs, since it is only one plane. Attack planes wouldnt be able to spot at all

@@Aerroon WG put themselves in a box: the core concept of CV is boring, no one would play CV if they were not OP (that’s why AA is useless and there are no real counters to that class). So if they nerf them, ppl will not play the class and that is seen as a failure: WG stated that they balanced CV based on popularity: if popularity drops, they buff the class making it even more boring to play and horrendous to play against. Proof of this failure? It’s 5 goddam years from the OG rework and they still can’t figure out how to balance this class.

CVs got their damage mainly from dive bomber (skip bombers) and torp planes. To see dive bombers nerfed to oblivion is actually not bad because they hit bbs for like 20k constantly and are very hard to dodge (and kill too) unlike torp planes where there is more leeway (for the first strike mainly). Cv spotting is also a huge problem and some cvs dont care about teamplay and only want to farm so seeing their dmg potential nerfed will make them think more. But people are so reliant on cv spotting bc dd players also dont care much about teamplay so once it goes live there will probably be a lot of backlash bc the game got harder. But after cv nerfes i hope superships get their nerfes as well because they are just horrible to deal against.

There is something strange about DFAA flak bursts. They seem to cause no damage. For example, between 02:01 and 02:11 you plough through massive flak bursts but seem to take only continuous damage losing about 1,900 HP. This is not normal especially if the DFAA is extended to 7km in the test. Then 03:25-03:35 in a non-DFAA attack, you also lose about 1,900 HP. In 10 test games, I have never taken big flak damage. As you say, dive bombers are so ineffective, it's better to dust off the rocket planes and use them. The gameplay seems slow and mechanical. No speed control and impossible to swing round and attack targets of opportunity or short-range targets.

@@Aerroon Sorry maybe I don't understand the full picture, but isn't it easier now to repeatedly drop on one target? Cruisers and destroyers can avoid it well, but battleships might find it difficult to dodge after the first attack. Each drop is weaker and easier to shoot down, but every squadron will use all available strikes. Btw, love your videos ty for replying :)

CV is good like it is now just adding a buff for easiest control airplanes also some buff in economic part, losing power in attacking same ship or increasing a power to AA wave to surface ship, and need a super nerf in spots so will be perfect This new way to play is so complicated will be so bad for longe time

Stop lying to yourself and just admit the fact you only liked RTS carriers because they were rare. A wave of strike planes could sink multiple ships, and the cv spotting we deal with now was even worse as air detection was much greater for all ships (brought to near current state after a few weeks of the current CV state) and the CV had multiple squadrons (up to 6 or 7) that would sit just outside your aa range the entire game. It was not a better state beyond AA buff being engrained into the meta picks for captain skills and the skill floor was so much higher for a CV.

@@Aerroon remove all non surface ships like the community has been asking for years. They can't balance them in a way that makes them both fun to play and play against. Or just revert the AA changes so you can manually select target and just remove subs. If there was more counter play I wouldn't mind but relying on teammates in this game is horrendous. I played last night where I was getting farmed by a aki and my yamagiri just sailed around behind my bb torping his smoke. These things where you have to rely on your teammates to not be idiots are not working at all.

@@Aerroon they could also just make it to where your AA multiplies the longer they are in your radius or if they keep striking you repeatedly and also remove the unlimited hangar capacity but keep the manual secondary control like they have on pts so they are not useless after they run out of planes. And still remove subs. Subs are so bad I mean they shouldn't be able to drive around in the enemy spawn with impunity. That's dumb and it made me quit the last time I just came back after a 2 year break and subs still have me heated.
