Had all these problems with my motorhome. Jimmy needs a couple of decent 200ah batteries and a DC to DV converter (at least 40 amps) which is cheap and will charge the batteries efficiently when he's driving and he can run the van engine as needed to top up. No need for any extra add-ons.

Jimmy, the red and black plug is a Torberry plug, ive only seen these on a golf trolley battery for charging. Have a good break for Christmas.

Now you have that power cube with its puny solar panel, and you have that inverter, charge-controller, battery and panels at your van. Two systems, both with their own operating losses. That power cube is nice for going camping in a country where the sun actually shines. Or, if you're planning to haul that cube out of your van and into the house every end of the day for a nightly recharge, it will be useful. Might as well connect your van's aux batteries to a charger, every night. Inverters are lossy. Only use the big one if you need to run a 240VAC power tool. For recharging power tool batteries, diag tool batteries and phones, you should buy chargers that run directly on 12V. And if you really need to have 240VAC for chargers, buy an inverter that better fits the amount of Watts needed. Running 2 or 3 tool chargers on a 2400W inverter is very lossy. Also, invest in proper cables and switches that allows for charging your aux battery from your van alternator at a high rate. Just 10 minutes from your alternator at a slightly raised RPM will already do more than a full day of British "solar".

Jimmy, i reckon you'd be better of with a small petrol generator like a Honda e10i you could charge everything up at once regardless of the Sunshine

You can run a mini fridge for cold drinks in summer and a coffee maker in winter with that as well

Not sure how useful that thing is going to be during the dull UK autumn and winter.
