The heavy spinners are mostly lvl 5 so no need to worry about this happening on first jumps :) that is also the reason instructors let them spin more than normal, they have showed that they can pull at the right alt. and they have already failed lvl 5 couple of times.
@nicholasmartin79223 жыл бұрын
We are trained to stop a students spin and correct their position “once learning has ceased.” No instructor should ever “let a student spin longer than normal.”
@martinj10403 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasmartin7922 I completely agree, but it isn't always as easy as it sounds. But I do admit that this video is suitable to show instructors what not to do also. Especially at the moment of deployment, instructors should make sure that it's not done during a spin.
@nicholasmartin79223 жыл бұрын
Martin J sure you can try for them to be stable. But pull priories in order are 1. Pull, 2. Pull at the right altitude, 3. Pull stable. Instructors should not sacrifice altitude for their students stability. This student clearly needs a parachute above their head. It is entirely appropriate to dump them during instability.
@martinj10403 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasmartin7922 If you read the comment again that you are answering, you will actually see that "they have showed that they can pull at the right alt." No altitude was sacrificed
@nicholasmartin79223 жыл бұрын
Martin J but just because they have shown that they can doesn’t mean that they will. This person has what, 5? 6 jumps total? This person can’t stay stable for the life of them. They can easily lose altitude awareness in a spin. I wouldn’t on them having proved that they can pull at the right altitude.

The easy answer is "arch and relax", but it isn't always that easy to do it. If you can, go to the wind tunnel before the AFF course, if not, talk to your instructor for tips and make sure you practice a lot on the ground. But don't worry about it too much, it's about 1 from 1000 students that manage to spin like this. Blue skies!

@juliuszaromskis87384 жыл бұрын
1. relax 2. counter the spin to the opposite direction
@BigbyOShaunessy3 жыл бұрын
Relax and arch harder to lower your centre of gravity. Check that your arms and legs are symmetrical. If that fails, pull your arms down to your sides and dive (delta). These guys all seemed to keep their legs straight and had their hands in front of their face. Their shoulder, elbow, crotch, and knee angles should all be 90deg and their hips fused forward..

Can you pull your parachute if you are upside down
@martinj10405 жыл бұрын
You can pull it from any position. As long as pilot chute catches air, it will open everything else. Opening will be a bit more uncomfortable if not in correct position, but nothing too bad usually. The biggest danger is if you throw the pilot chute during a very heavy spin and the bridle wraps around your hand or leg before it will pull the pin. That is the reason a stable position is much more recommend. But most important is the opening altitude! Spins do happen sometimes, you must try to stop them, but as soon as you are at your pull altitude, you have to open your parachute (no matter the body position or stability)!
