Truly.. it was an ear melting lick no doubt... who knew that a relative major 7th arpeggio mixed in with cool pentatonic bends and Tomo's irreplaceable touch and a few triad runs could sound like that.. damn.. humbled by this lesson. Thank you very much Tomo. 🙏 Prayers from the Himalayas... God Bless 🌼

I always smile when I watch you play, it sounds so great. Like magic. I don't understand why you played D major and G major over E minor 7 and B minor 7 but Im sure I'll learn this in Guitar Wisdom. There's much I have to learn and I will be so happy when I can make music like this. Cheers, Steve Courtice, Ontario, Canada

Did you figure it out already? I didn't get it either until I looked into it in detail. So, here's my understanding: If you have a major key, you can find the relative minor by defending one tone and a half (3 frets). So, the relative minor of C is Am. So, Am key has the same notes as C major, but simply starting at A. Knowing this, you know that if you have a minor chord, like Bm, three frets above you'll find the root chord of its relative major, in this case, D major. This means that you can play any note of the D major arpeggio (or Dmaj7 for an extra note) and it will sound good over Bm. Now, I discovered the reason why I would do this when following another lesson from Tomo (Parker Blues) where he suggests memorizing the arpeggios and I did. So, now that I know how to play the Dmaj7 arpeggio (R, 3, 5, maj7) I can use the exact same arpeggio over the Bm7 chord and I'll automatically be playing the b3, 5, b7 and 9 of B without having to learn any new shape. I hope it makes sense.
@patrickgarcia88724 жыл бұрын
Look up Tritone Substitutions. They’re relative chords to each other because they share a b7 and a b3 (or just a regular third, i forget) but that’s what gives them their jazzy feel other than just being seventh chords. They’re just three tones (whole steps) away from each other.

Hi Sir, upon practicing this groove and as you said that we can use on Em7 (GM7 Scale) and Bm7 (DM7 scale). and i noticed that on GM7 triad is also Bm triad and DM7 is F#m triad. Is it safe to say that i can use Bm Penta on Em7 and F#m Penta on Bm7 chord then will combine GM7 and DM7 scales for more tone exploration? i am one of those who practice the easy way.. hehe.. go to youtube and search for backing tracks. But now i will follow your advice to create my own tracks using loop and analyze triads... =D

Man I am in love with your channel, although I only have acoustic guitar (plan on getting an electric very soon) I've watched so many of your lessons. I have been really struggling with the concept of "how to play a solo" and I am trying to find the answer in your videos, so far I have noted the concept of Triads, Inversions, Scales (Pentatonic, Major, Minor), and arpeggios. What else would you recommend me to progress further on my journey to "doing solo's", my inspiration is John Mayer, Mateus Asato and you :D (if that helps)
