-Never drop haunt/shadow embrace unless boss dies in 1 tick
-Never drop UA unless boss dies before you'll get full ticks from it (~sub 7-10%)
-Curse of agony is very low prio in drain phase as you likely won't get full benefit (it is a RAMPING dot meaning it does SHIT damage first few ticks then 2-3x towards last few ticks)
-Shadow trance should only be used as a filler in drain phase (let's say there's 1second on haunt, may as well throw a trance instead of trying to fit another tick of drainsoul) especially if you have tons of haste buffs try not to lose that drain cast
-Channeling addon "QUARTZ 3" and other addons tracking specific buffs (I just use weakauras and insert whatever buff I want to track)
-Drain soul has 5 total ticks
-"Drain Soul, somewhat like Corruption, also snapshots the effects of certain buffs. The entirety of a Drain Soul channel is increased by the Haste, Spellpower, and damage modifying buffs you had on you at the time you started the channel."
-Make sure you re-channel every new buff while simultaneously never losing uptime on your dots
-improved shadowbolt is a mage's job in execute cuz drain soul can't crit :)

Hey man, just watched your video about snapshotting Corruption and was wondering about the weaponswapping - is there any reason not to just macro "/equip Mainweapon" into Corruption? Since there is no scenario in which you don't want to have your actual weapon equipped after casting it, right? Would save a button Press this way

@@NLGwotlkclassic Hmm I've tried it without any spellqueue, since equipping something doesn't trigger a GCD it was just 2 lines with "/cast Corruption" and "/equip xy", I'll use it as soon as it makes sense for me to weaponswap if I don't run into any issues. But I guess you've got the muscle memory anyways, so not that useful for you haha

Hey bud, U said at 6:35 that we have to ensure that our trinkets and pots are applied to our biggest damage dealer spell (corruption) but I thought that corruption only snapchot % damage and crit (as it can be explained in ur other videos). So, do you mean that Spell damage bonus ends for corruption when the buff that gives it ends, but in order to buff the corruption with your spell damage buff u have to "refresh" it (if the buff proc after the apply of the corruption)? I talk about buff like dying curse, haste buff etc Thanks for ur help

Great question. Yes this is for drain soul phase specifically. Throughout the fight you're using constant shadowbolts which updates the corruption dynamically. In execute phase you're holding long drain casts and corruption is refreshed by everlasting affliction at the beginning of the drain soul channel. That means whatever you start the drain soul with (haste, sp buffs) will be held onto that corruption and the drain soul until you rechannel drain. Your corruption already had the tricks and crit modifiers from sub 35% reapplication, but during drain phase it's snapshotting sp and haste on your corruption as well until you rechannel.

a shadowbolt only resets the duration of corruption, applying a new corruption will make a new snapshot

in theory, you can write a WA which will just straight up tell you if you should recast drain soul or not

i don't think so tbh. a weakaura isn't going to tell you to recast drain on a PI+dying curse+erad if all of them have 1 second left so you can hold a full channel of it. or be able to interpret whether or not you should do that or haunt instead. it would also have to be able to track boss % and interpret how long until the boss is about to die. I think a weakaura could interpret "you casted drain with no buffs before this, and you got PI after, you should recast it" but i don't think it'd be good enough to just completely rely on to carry you through drain phase maybe i'm underestimating weakaura capability tho

it would also have to track how far away you are from the boss to tell you whether or not you can hold another tick before losing embrace/haunt etc

​@@NLGwotlkclassic weakauras could actually do way better than your first example in your first comment. it could straight up tell you the exact number for how much damage your drain is expected to do if you cast it, how much damage you gain/lose over your current snapshot, how much time you have left to cast at the current state and, how much damage your drain is expected to do if you choose to let the current state expire (ie let a buff run out). also, i don't know about wotlk pservers but WAs can track the distance to NPCs in tbc classic. for example, hunters use a WA to know where to stand to melee weave optimally or, if you boost slave pens heroic you can use a WA to help you maintain a certain distance to a boss so you don't eat a distance-based attack. so you could for sure make a WA that's just a countdown to when you lose haunt unless you recast it.

WOW! fucking FM, PI, and Tricks. My guild will do NONE of those 3 for me despite being top dps and after I have asked numerous times. The Priest prefers to PI his Mage friend and the Mages FM themselves, while the rogues cant be bothered. Should I quit that guild and move on?
