The power supply and VRMs on this board are super-beefy and are designed to support everything up to an unlimited 13900K. I previously had a Gigabyte DS3H B660 which struggled even with an i5-13500, the VRMs reached 100°C in Cinebench R23 in no time and throttling set in. With the Strix B760-F the VRMs stay at ~45°C even after numerous loops. In an open setup that is.

You could use a 13900k yeah, but given the price of it you just as well match it with a Z790 to allow overclocking in the future, especially as it's a K series processor.

Did you update ur bios? or it's running into stock bios.. I am having some usb issues don't know if it's related to my bios or not

Running stock bios :) no issues at all, could either be problems with the usb ports or it could also be the bios. Some mobos can sometimes have some issues from start or they can get damaged durring shipping. but check if it is the bios or check if the psu is up to standard, had problems with my old setup due to psu not being strong enough to power everything.@@tearsofshadow6560

Ah right, no not needed in the slightest. All the internal USB headers are the same, there's just generational differences. USB 2, USB 3 then USB C.

Did you like the audio of this mobo?. When i first built my rig with this mobo , the ALC 4080 audio codec sounded so low compared to the audio in my previous rog mobo b360f which uses S1220 something like that i guess. Finally after installing a software called "Fx sound" the audio quality improved way better. The audio output is now finally according to my needs most of the time.

I've not used it unfortunately. I usually use a soundcard in my personal rigs, I'm very much a glutton for sound quality and onboard audio just doesn't do it for me.

I was really looking forward to this board and the i7 13700f, but what a pity that overclocking via the bclk bus is not available on non-K 13th generation processors. Therefore, I would choose asus rog B660 f and i9 12900f. This board and CPU without K can do the same thing as Z690 with i9 12900k. Good luck!

You still need a Z series board for overclocking, B series boards don't do it.

@@jordanash you probably did not know that the 12th generation can be overclocked using the bclk bus on some motherboards! Right now you can easily find information about it. Ask in the search engine: overclocking the i5 12400f processor on b660 f gaming wi fi. This motherboard has an external bclk generator. It really allows you to overclock the 12th generation intel processors!

Sorry, I meant generally. I know there are a handful of boards that do it, but as a general rule of thumb overclocking is for the Z series boards. I don't want to confuse viewers so I just say the B series doesn't overclocking, as the majority don't.

Planning to upgrade to the i5-14400f and I cant decide between this mobo or the Msi Z790. I cant overclock anyway but the z790 is cheaper for some reason. I think the b760f looks cooler and its only like £10 more. What do you think i should do? (Or i could go with a ryzen 5 7600x lmao)

To be fair the 7600X is a great CPU (using it in my work PC now), plus you'll have an upgrade path with that, where as 14th gen will be the last of LGA 1700.

@@Whachadoon but it can't also undervolt it since Intel thinks undervolt is OC. So either go Z-series or get a 13600 paried with a B660. I personally went with a 5800X3D instead since it saved me having to get a new mobo + ram and still same performance in 4K gaming ;)

Yeah that's what I'm going to use with it. There's no overclocking support on B series boards anyway.

@@shreyaschandra6042 Just don't. It's more than enough for a 13900K. You can't overclock the CPU manually but you still can overclock the RAM, while non-K CPUs can't even oc the RAM anymore.

Will this work with an intel i9 14900KF. The site says that it needs a certain bios. The bios flashback thing should work yeh if it's not the correct bios?

It'll need an update as this came out for 13th gen. {Unless you get a recent production board from factory that's already got it) One thing though, you won't have any overclocking support as this is B-series, I'd go for the Strix Z790 to match the high end CPU a bit better. Bios wise, if it's got flashback it should be fine to update for 14th gen.

It's got good VRM cooling, but I'd get something more suited like the Z790 Strix. The 13900k is super hot and deserves a board that can handle it easier. Using this would be like having a Ferrari with hubcap wheels.

The 13700K is basically a 12900K. The 13900K is hot as hell. It´s your call, but the 13700K seems much more reasonable. But that´s up to you. I definitely wouldn´t couple it with a B-board.

Someone else asked about this board with the 13900k. This is more for people that aren't looking to overclock or use the highest end parts with it. I'd get something more suited like the Z790 Strix. Depending on your REGION, price difference between the K and non K version of the 13700 are sometimes minimal, especially during online retailers´s periodic promos. Why not get the factory OCed 13700K instead? I have already decided to go for the 13700K. I am still in doubt between the B760-F and the Z790-E. My last PC lasted over 10 years and I intend the next one to last as long, hence why I might be willing to pay the premium price of th Z790-E. Still pondering though.

Assuming the price difference is only like 15-30$ between this and Z690-F, which board do you recommend for K CPU user and non K CPU user? Also, out of curiosity, can you lower the PL on this board for K CPU user?

If you're looking at the Z*6*90, are you looking at a 12th Gen CPU? If so I'd go for that. If the non K is also 12th Gen you could save some money with a B660 instead of a B760.

This explained it better than I could - "The B series Intel motherboards have weaker VRMs, lower rating capacitors and fewer power phases. As such, they do not have the capacity to handle overclocking effectively."

I think it's because of the vast amounts of cores, wattages and heat they now have. It's more expensive to implement all the things needed to cope with it. My first PC's board was £150 too. There are a *couple* of 12th Gen B series boards that can overclock, but the majority simply don't have the options, unlike the Z series.

Asus has gone super greedy if i'm paying $400+ for a motherboard it should come with Dr Debug. The fact they don't include it in that price makes them SUPER greedy and anti consumer. I went with ASrock just on that fact alone, Their $350 board comes with Dr Debug as do many of the board makers in that class. Only fools at this point pay a premium for a name
