Mell "We went over a lot of info today." So so true but this is important. I think I understand but I could be wrong so its ✔✔ First Phase Prep - 4:55 ✔✔ ✳Whilst hair is wet apply: 1. Moisturizing products e.g leave in condition. 2. Products containing glycerin or other humectants such as 2:17. Tip💡: On curly and coily hair brush evenly for best distribution but ensure looser curls or wavy textured hair is very wet first. ✔✔ Second Phase Style - 7:59 ✔✔ ✳ Section hair for better control then apply: 1. Curl enhancing/defining cream ( Note: it is okay to use products in this step which contain glycerin however ensure that in the poduct listing there are occulsive sealing ingredients that counter it such as petrolatum, mineral oil , coconut oil or dimethicone) 2. Gel or mousse for hold that contains polyquaternium-4 (Or these 10:24 really important for dealing with humidity) Tip💡: Define curls using denmin brush. Style using the 90 degree technique shown here I think. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmPVZXieerStbJY Tip💡: Dippity doo is lighter than the Aussie which has a heavier cream which is better for thicker hair. ✔✔ Third Phase Finish - 10:30 ✔✔ ✳ Begin hover diffusing I think this is the technique kzbin.info/www/bejne/iou8i3iilMisosU Pro tip💡: If humidity is high air dry inside. 🚨⚠ Don't forget happy hour while diffusing. Yes correct me if I am wrong Mell but I believe this is mandatory. ✳ Once dry apply final occlusive product. Tip 💡: Holy Grail for real humidity and thick hair 11:43 ✳ Scrunch and fluff. ✳ Refresh in a couple days. Get products that can be apply on dry hair. Now for bloopies💜💜💜💜💜 "Damm good hair day" True true 🎶🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵 "You get the best of both worlds" Chill it out, take it slow Then you rock out the show You get the best of both worlds Mix it all together and you know that it's the best of both worlds Oh the nostalgia😅😆😢 🎶🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵 "Purplefreak" Mel you know I want that superfreaky parody. And one more thing in the GGD Great Glycerin Debate you said: "We have been really hard on glycerin in previous videos?" 1:21 We??? Me didn't say jack so u could hang your head in shame by yourself lmao. Ah Texture Tuesday I love you and I learnt a lot thank you Mell this was funducational and Amanda we missed you today but thank you for everything you did to make this possible.

I second that! I'm just starting out with trying to enhance my naturally wavy hair and it's been trial and error so far. I have a lot of hair that's not really that fine, so I've always been generous with my products the way curlies are, but I'm finding that for my wave pattern, less is more. I also have stringy clumps at the bottom of my head that don't hold a curl the same way as the hair on the top. Any dedicated insight on type 2 hair would be helpful.

fussfo definitely style hair upside down, put products in when the hair is soaking wet so the hair doesn’t get weighed down when drying. I avoid products with Shea butter and heavy moisturisers because my fine hair gets greasy and straight easily.
@monas.6839

Same here! Styling upside down helps to a degree, but it usually goes flat when my hair doesn’t quite need a haircut, but has gotten a little heavy since the last one.

I find sometimes my hair needs more protein and less moisture so styling products with moisture can help but also the right shampoo and conditioners. I mix my hair cream with water and spray it on so it's evenly distributed. It's a difficult balancing act for sure for our type. Maybe try finger coiling or the jump rope technique.

I have longer thin hair that tends to be a looses curl/wave similar to Amanda. I have a satin bonnet but even when I sleep with it I wake up with curls that are stringy and often not even a natural curl pattern. The curls will bend at funny intervals or kink in weird directions. The only way I’ve found that sort of works for me is to plop my hair wet overnight in a t-shirt and then plop my hair dry? If that makes sense- the following days. Idk why my bonnet isn’t doing more for me. Please PLEASE give me advice, Mel or anyone else!
@leilakabgrad123

Sleep with a satin or silk pillowcase instead of the bonnet and tie it in a loose pineapple? Maybe don't scrunch out the crunch too much after putting gel on the first day to prolong the curls. I feel like if it gets wonky refreshing by gently wetting down the frizz with your hands (barely wetting it) and then putting some mousse might be helpful

Do you have any input on water quality and how it affects hair product choices? I live in Ontario and the hard water here makes my hair feel a little more coarse, makes my curl come out and stay in my hair longer. When I go back home to Vancouver each summer, the soft water makes my hair feel really soft, and I have almost no curl, and products behave differently. It can be frustrating trying to predict what types of products to use with the soft water, because I have been in Ontario for 18 years and have become so accustomed to the methods I use now on a daily basis. My hair is naturally normal/fine, Med thickness, wavy. Your Input on water quality and product choices would be appreciated.

@@kyannagonzalez624 I feel you, girl!! I used to work in a hot woodshop with no AC and lots of bugs, so I usually wore my hair up in protective styles. Best advice I got :| It's a struggle! Last time I went camping, I straightened my hair to avoid the madness. 🤷‍♀️

I have had issues with my scalp that I think are caused by product buildup. Some issues are causing me to shed a lot and the part above my temples looks thinner... not "I'm getting bald" thin, but I can notice it. Do you have any recommendations to promote growth or stop breakage or control shedding? Thanks!

How can I get back into using silicones?? I feel like my hair has never looked more dull 3 years into the no-cones journey. I can’t find any products with soluble silicones in :(
@ManesByMell
@ManesByMell 4 жыл бұрын
ah isnt that ironic! Sorry to hear about your hair woes! make sure you have a good cleansing shampoo (one with sulphates will do great) and dont be afraid of having them in the ingredients! Try shopping for products that claim to help your hair goal, so to achieve shine, de-frizz, conditioning etc and you will find it! I have shared so many on this channel, one of my favourites like Verb curl cream is a great one!

IIRC, if the silicone has PEG in the name, it is water soluble. Lots of my products have them. Pleas, though, correct me if I’m wrong.

I love your channel!! What would you say about hotter and drier climates? I live in Southern California and its almost always 80 degrees or above. And the summers are so so so hot. Hoping this series answers those questions! So excited about it!! Also I added these Aussie products to my cart at Target.

Hi! I have so many questions... I'm commenting because this is your most recent video and I'm desperate ahah. I've been on the curly journey for around 3 years now and for the first two I did it mostly alone (following random videos online trying to piece things together). Recently I found the CG method and it helped to validate a few things but I cant seem to make it work. Someone reccomend your channel to me and it's great! I just have a few things that are driving me crazy. 1. What sillicones/ sulphates can I use vs what I should use? 2. How do I know when a product is working? 3. Is a tangle teaser a wet brush? 4. Do different ethnic groups have different rules they shouldn't break? I have a Brazilian/Black/ginger heritage (ikr crazy) and I'm super stuck... I think my hair is 4 porosity. I would really appreciate the help. Thank you!!!

Thank you so much for your channel! I just discovered your channel this week during the blessed quarantine, and what an eye opener! I've been on my curly journey for about 3 years and I've watched A LOT of videos trying to figure it all out, and I have to say, I've had so many a-ha moments watching your videos, and I've learned more from you in this week than I have in the last 3 years. Thank you! I finally had a run of 2 successful wash and styles! That's anazing for me. I can finally wear my hair down most of the day instead of putting it in a bun on top of my head for 6 days until it's time to wash it again and have only 1 good hair day a week. I finally feel like I'm starting to know what I'm doing. Long way of saying THANK YOU!!!

Hi Mel. I was wondering if you could make a video on a curly hair routine for mixed textured curly hair in a tropical climate. We have only have 2 seasons- rainy and dry. I don't know if my climate is humid or arid, but my hair suffers from serious frizz and I have tried switching up my product usage and routine according to your guidelines, but am still having frizz ruin my style by Day 3.

If I may ask, would you please consider adding closed captioning to your videos so that more people can enjoy them?🤓 Auto captions aren't that precise and reading lips only works so well.
