Not at all, here in Australia that bike costs a little over $4,300 AUD, you could get a very nice Norco sight, canyon strive, yt jeffsy or other big rig for less with better spec!
@richardhaselwood94784 жыл бұрын
@@rachelpanth5527 at that price, you're looking at a Giant Trance. The Stance is about $2300 AUD.
@rachelpanth55274 жыл бұрын
Richard Haselwood Precisely! I’m not a huge fan of giants but it’s a good example of how you can get a lot of bike for a lot less! I wish companies would actually make real affordable bikes, instead of just saying their bike is affordable. I give props to Canyon, Norco and Cube all of which have sweet bikes and great prices but their nice and humble about it!
@richardhaselwood94784 жыл бұрын
@@rachelpanth5527 Good point. I am a Giant fan boy, at least partly because of their good prices (also because of their generally better QA than a lot of other brands, and that is a rant for another day). I mean this bike is a solid spec for the price, but it's priced solidly in the enthusiast bracket, which is fine, companies have to be profitable, but Specialized have never been known for low prices. Also, Polygon bikes are pretty competitively priced, especially here in Australia

I've had mine for about 2.5 months now (S5 silver frame). Now, I upgraded from a 28 year old Stumpjumper, so everything about it is awesome for me, right? The more I ride it, the more confidence I build - it's only let me down once - and that was the stock free hub. My free hub broke on a long climb after riding it about 6 times (I am a big guy, so it probably wasn't spec'd for me). No big deal - I took it in the shop and they squared me away. The next week, I see a father doing push-a-bike with his maroon Status S5 with his 2 sons riding slowly along with him. What happened? Free hub broke. When I saw that, I knew that my experience wasn't an anomaly, so I upgraded immediately to a DT Swiss 350. The bike is heavy, but that doesn't matter to me, and it does fill me with great confidence to keep pushing my speed. The lock out on the rear suspension is REALLY handy for quick adjustment on a long climb, so I don't have any issues with climbing. Not sure my opinion means much, based upon what I upgraded from, but it's been absolutely non-stop fun (except for that darn free hub).

@@WeakendWarrior - local bike shop just got it in stock. I had been in and out of there for months looking for the right bike, and I jumped on it as soon as I saw it. I understand that Specialized was doing it that way - making it available to some of their partners in the US, and I just got lucky. Find out who sells Specialized MTBs close to you and let them know you’re interested. I also volunteered to pay a deposit to hold it for me while I scrounged the money.

The front triangle looks... dated. We have kinda got used to those new frames where the top tube and the chainstay form one line (which means the top tube is visually connecting the head tube with the rear hub) - because it gives a really low standover and allows super-long dropper posts. Any modern geometry bike you can just hold on and the bike can do all the work. Its all about how good you are with the bike and how far you can push it.

Wow 16.3 kg sounds like a bike just for bike Parks, for long rides. Is a big. Nono
@obi-wankenobi98714 жыл бұрын
16.3kg is okay. Do you seriously think one kg less would make you significantly faster? This is a no bullshit robust workhorse of a bike. We need more of those.

You realise once you ad decent tyres to carbon enduro bikes they are still over 15kg. They are light from factory because they are all speced with super weak tyres
@Renton814 жыл бұрын
Steven Jalopnik , exactly! My 2020 enduro comp with the swat box full with spare tube, co2 canisters, another multi tool, dh and exo plus casing tyres and nukeproof pedals, tips the scale at 17kgs! Some ppl don’t get how quickly you can add weight 😅

You got the rear wheel size wrong in the vid description "A rough and ready big hitter, the Specialized Status 160 comes set up standard in a mullet build: 29in front wheel and 29in rear wheel.". Can you send me a bike as a thank you for spotting this mistake please?!
