Update: I noticed today that the slanted buttons on the M-Series aren’t to be more ergonomic, it’s because the switches aren’t pressed in all the way. They still function but you want to make sure to press them in (do be careful) and they should have a click sound and sit flat afterwards. Additional Notice: There are no longer individual Firmware versions for the controllers and they all use the same Haute42 specific GP2040-CE build. You can find the updated firmware at the provided link. If you do not see the Haute42 build, make sure to scroll down to "Assets" of the most up-to-date version and click "Show all assets" at the bottom of the list. github.com/OpenStickCommunity/GP2040-CE/releases

Awesome video! Ordering the M16. Would love a tutorial video for button layout for SF6. TY!
@ChronoAscension8 ай бұрын
For SF6 I use the bottom left button for drive impact, and then I have parry on the bottom right one. This makes it easier for me to react to DI since it’s a quick one button reaction with my thumb and same goes for parry and drive rush. Having the extra button is quicker than shifting my hand and pressing two buttons so you could probably try out something similar. Another viable option would probably be still having the bottom right one be parry, but instead having the top right one be your drive impact button. Make sure for training mode in SF6 that you go to the shortcuts settings and unbind L3 and R3 from training dummy recordings because otherwise it’ll conflict with your inputs for training mode.

At 7:50 in the video I show the process of updating the firmware and at 8:30 I show how to set up some additional settings in the web configurator. But simply, go to their website and go to the support tab at the top right to download their firmware (or go to their Discord server the link for which is in the description, and there you can find controller specific firmware options with added things like more buttons in the input viewer). Then once you've acquired the Flash Nuke file and the desired firmware file, hold the gold button on the bottom of the controller when plugging it in, you'll see a pop-up from your file explorer, than drag the Flash Nuke file in, then it'll process and have the pop-up come back up, then you drag in the firmware file and it will be updated.

@ChronoAscension8 ай бұрын
Definitely would say both options are good, just depends on the person. T series is fairly big so you’ll have a lot of space to work with, and you can play it on a table or in your lap comfortably. The M series is small and easy to bring to places but still has a nice weight to it. Button spacing is pretty similar on both of them. Maybe go with the T series if you’re unsure because it’s more likely to be comfortable if you end up playing on your lap, you can with the M series, but it may not be comfortable for everyone. You can also customize it with art to make it more personal as well later down the line too so it has that extra option. It’s up to what material and size you like to be honest.

Sorry for the late response didn’t see it since it’s under another comment. If you mainly play on your desk and want a premium feel then I’d say go with the M-Series controller. The plastic feel of the T-Series doesn’t feel cheap so it won’t be a problem, and the edges aren’t sharp either.

When sliding my button off of the movement buttons to backdash cancel, my finger would get caught on the edge of the sharp acrylic surrounding the button. It wasn't sharp enough to cut me or anything, but just enough to catch my finger. So I learned that I need something with raised buttons that does not sit flush to the case. At least if it's acrylic. Curious if the metal version is any better. But I went and ordered the G16. That one has raised buttons.

@ChronoAscension6 ай бұрын
Yes you can, however I don’t see why you would change those in the pin mappings as you can keep them as they are, but bind them in game. Just make sure to go to shortcuts in training and disable the LS and RS shortcuts since they’ll end up triggering the button short cuts instead of DI and Parry.

@ChronoAscension8 ай бұрын
If you want something with more space, then I would say the T16. You can also add art to it by unscrewing it and putting art between the layers. The M16 is nice and sturdy, and since it’s made with aluminum it has a nice weight to it and feels really premium. It is smaller though, so playing with it on a table is the best option but you can use it on your lap as well. The safer option I would say is the T16 since you can play with it on your lap and on a table so it’s the best option for comfort. Button spacing on them is also the same, so in the end it comes down to what material you like, how you want to customize it, and what size you like best.

At 6:48 there is a size comparison where you can see the M16 is fairly smaller than the T16. Your best bet for lap play would be the T16 and I’ve taken it to locals and had no problems with lap play since it’s pretty big and doesn’t slip. The T16 can be played on a desk but it may be a bit uncomfortable. The M16 works for both, with desk play being very comfortable, but lap play may have mixed results between each person since it is smaller.

@ChronoAscension8 ай бұрын
Console manufacturers are going to focus on the main designated peripheral of their device so sticking to controllers is definitely their main concern. These types of controllers do have a bit of controversy but they are completely legal, example of some pros that use similar style controllers are Nephew, Daigo, and Kakeru. The main reason people would use one of these is first console compatibility as they are made to be used on console unlike most keyboards, as well as ergonomics and the layout. With these, the buttons are more spaced and and much larger and easier to press. With a keyboard you have smaller keys and you may accidentally bump into other keys. At the end of the day it’s all preference, if you can get a keyboard to work you can play it however you like, just most people prefer something more tailored for fighting game play for extra comfort.

Preference on t16 vs m16? trying to get my first leverless!
@ChronoAscension7 ай бұрын
It all depends on which size and material you like better. The T16 is larger so it may end up being comfortable for most people, while the M16 will be a bit smaller and can end up being uncomfortable. The M16 definitely does have a more premium feel because of the metal though, and it isn't impossible to play with it on your lap. There's also customization of art which is going to be easier for the T16 since you can put art between the acrylic layers, while the M16 you'll need to get a decal sticker. I personally like both, but if I could only pick one, I would go with the T16 since I do prefer larger controllers since I play with it on my lap.

leverless looks fun, But can it really be easier than joystick?
@ChronoAscension7 ай бұрын
Some techniques may feel easier on it but you still have to learn things like with a joystick controller. There’s benefits and drawbacks to it so I wouldn’t say to get the controller because you think it’ll make you a better player. Now for Tekken it does make certain techniques a lot easier like KBD and Wavedash, so it definitely has better application to 3D games in that aspect. But again, it won’t magically make you a better player and I’d just see what you find to be more comfortable as plenty of players use stick and plenty use leverless.

Just like with PS4 and PS5, you need an adapter plugged into the USB-A slot of the controller. Adapters like the Mayflash MagONE or the Mayflash Magic X will work on Xbox One and Series S and X. I forgot the setup process for this as it’s been a while, but those adapters will work so keep those in mind.

Hi, I'm on the verge of buying one, does it work natively with the Xbox Series?
@ChronoAscension8 ай бұрын
Natively, no, you will need an adapter plugged into the side of it like the Mayflash Magic-X or the Mayflash MAGONE FPS adapter (low availability on this one so probably go with the Magic-X). The method of plugging it into the side makes it so that there's no lag since it is meant for authentication only, different to how traditional adapters work. But you also need to update the controller's firmware, the file can be found on the support section of their website or in their discord server. If you need a visual representation of these steps, the web firmware update section is at 7:50 in the video and the controller adapters at 12:17

I have another video covering the T series. But in short I think it’s a good option since you have a lot of buttons to work with for the T16 model which made it really useful for SF6 Drive Impact and Parry. It’s also really spacious so your hands won’t cramp and I enjoyed using it a lot. From what I’ve heard, the art is simple enough to change. With the way it’s designed it’s multiple layers of acrylic layered up, so you would unscrew the bottom screws and take out the top parts securing the screws in, then it’s just a matter of slipping your art in underneath the layers and closing it back up.

I understand that the most compact one might not be that comfy to hold on the lap or else, but my question is: the size of keys themselves looks actually more comfy and compact, but not crammed like their keyboard product. Do you think switching to the T/M series size might be an issue after playing on keyboard for so long? Meaning the buttons are too spaced out? Thanks a lot for a clear review and for the usb sticks options as well.

I started trying out leverless on keyboard so it’s actually going to help you more and it won’t hinder you. Having bigger buttons and more space between them will actually feel more comfortable to play on since you’ll be able to feel where each button is better.

Make sure that if you want to play on PS5 that you get an adapter like the Mayflash v1.1 and follow the instructions in the video on setting that up in the web configurator. If you are comfortable with what you have already, I don’t see a need to swap. However if you want to sell it to get some money back and to buy something affordable and of good quality, as well as making use of extra buttons then I’d say go for it. The M16 is also similar to the kitsune with its aluminum design but it is considerably smaller so you’ll have to take that into consideration.
