I started a job walking 40 hours a week on concrete floors and was in immense pain (no exaggeration). I went and *purchased a pair of Hoka One One and a pair of Power Step Original insoles* and it got rid of 80% of my pain!!! NO JOKE! I went from having a desk job, to standing up/walking 40 hours a week. I am extremely grateful to God and my son for helping me find a shoe store with a sales person who knew how to help me. I'm not sure if the residual pain is from being out of shape or I need to purchase the Power Step Pinnacle Maxx Insoles. I even had pain in my hip, and that too is now just soreness (I also look for it to disappear) *I am soo amazed that a quality shoe and Power Step insoles could so drastically change my life after only 2 days of wear!!!* There is no way any person could work being in that amount of pain. Note: #1 One thing that inflicted pain was shoes that touched my toes when standing #2 Tennis shoes that were too flexible #3 I didn't tie my shoes tight enough to help stabilize my foot I thought I needed softness.. But I needed rigid stability.

I had a pair of of Powerstep Pulse insoles. They were decently comfortable, and got the job done. I wore them in my boots 5 days a week for about 3 weeks. In that short time they completely fell apart. The foam separated and the lining peeled off. I contacted Powerstep about this, and complained (in a nice and professional manner) that I would like a refund and they basically told me to fuck myself. They were very rude, and unprofessional. Personally, I'd never spend my money on this brand again, but maybe others will have better luck.

Maybe the Superfeet green might hold up better. Mine lasted for 15 years through thick and thin. Thanks for your comment.

I have flat feet and have benefited from Powerstep plus. They are getting older now and it appears the arch is not as high. Getting a little bit of pain in the balls of my right foot. Wasn't sure if it was arthritis which is in my knees. When standing on one of those foot machines, it appears my weight favors the outside of my feet. Was wondering what type of arch support would be best, and if I should try and place extra cushion under the arch support near balls of feet. Any thoughts?
@frugalfoot4973
@frugalfoot4973 3 жыл бұрын
The higher the arch support the lower the first met head will be when you push off. This encourages good range of motion of the great toe joint and allows the majority of your push off to be through the great toe. So when dealing with over the counter arch supports usually the highest one is the winner.

Work boot question. Are pull on work boots like wellingtons bad for plantar fasciitis? I have powerstep pinnacle insoles and they have been great but I’m curious if I can add arch support to a wellington boot for work use or if I should get a lace up that locks my foot in. I prefer pull on boots for easy on/off but was wondering if adding an arch support to them would be enough.
@frugalfoot4973
@frugalfoot4973 3 жыл бұрын
Pull on boots are not necessarily bad but sometimes they are "sloppy" in the arch. I have never worn a true Wellington style boot but I do have those rubber mud boots that go up the leg and I always wear them with my arch supports. Otherwise they are so sloppy. Are you unable to get your Pinnacle insoles in them?
@ryanmeyers6315
@ryanmeyers6315 3 жыл бұрын
@@frugalfoot4973 I am able to but was worried if the “sloppy” would be a bad thing despite the arch support from the powerstep. I’m actually looking into buying new work boots right now and was curious your opinion. I dont want to spend money on pull on boots if they end up hurting me in the long run. However I have had great success with arch support flip flops from vionic for casual wear and obviously theres sloppy heel movement in them. So I assume I should be ok with pull on boots.

@@ryanmeyers6315 Consider this approach: If you had a broken foot you'd be in a cast. With plantar fasciitis you are ripping or "breaking" cells within the fascia. So in a way you still do have a broken foot - its just not bone. Therefore my opinion is to go with the laced up boot and avoid sloppy footwear right now. Once the heel is better you could consider the pull on boots again. I hope that helps.

Interesting video, Dr. Dave. I am trying to find a good orthotic/insole for Peroneal Tendonitis. Would you recommend the Powerstep Pinnacle Maxx or the Pinnacle regular? The Maxx has a lateral heel post and more rigid support. I also have fallen arches. I want to try Powersteps but I don't know which one would be best for treating Peroneal Tendonitis.The Powersteps website does not list Peroneal Tendonitis is any of its insole descriptions. I contacted Customer Service and they were no help. I hope you can help me. Thanks!

I wear work boots and have noticed pain recently in the ball and heel of my foot. I have a medium arch. What would you suggest?
@frugalfoot4973
@frugalfoot4973 4 жыл бұрын
What would I suggest for an arch support? If it were me I'd go right to the Pinnacle Maxx. Remember, when you stand on the insert it is going to compress a lot so you might as well start with the highest support and test it.

I actually ordered the spenco total support max based on one of your previous recommendations! But will consider the powerstep in the future. Thanks for your response!

I seem to have a long arch for my 6.5 shoe size. I only feel comfortable in the arch if the support is meant for a size 9 shoe. But then it doesn't fit in heel or metatasal. Is there a company that varies the length of the arch. I have high arches.
@frugalfoot4973
@frugalfoot4973 3 жыл бұрын
All companies vary the length of their arch supports depending upon the shoes size. A proper fitting arch support should end just before the met heads. (The cover can end there as well or go further to the end of the toes.). If the met heads are on the arch support then the support is too long.
@frugalfoot4973
@frugalfoot4973 3 жыл бұрын
Another thought is to consider having your foot measured. You may not be a 6.5 shoe size but longer instead. There are two measurements: Heel to ball (arch length) and heel to toe. You may be looking at heel to toe and you need to consider heel to ball.

#ChristianWindt: How is the Pulse different from the Pinnacle?
@christiandwindt
@christiandwindt Жыл бұрын
Not really sure I’m not an expert. I use the pulse ones all the time. The cushion is good. One bad thing about them is the soft top layer will 100% start to peel off, leaving only the foam which is really uncomfortable.
