You definitely need to get Ignitron on a build. As a VAG 1.8t specific standalone , it does everything you just listed about the ECUmaster. Get ahold of Badger5 or VagetaGTI , I’m pretty sure they both have the source for the Hungarian Ignitron system . I’ve seen a lot of ECU’s and it impressed me . I’m old school/new school. Looking to going standalone for my setup but a few questions I didn't see in the comments: 1. Instrument cluster: Do you retain full functionality of the stock cluster? Was the Traction Control/ABS resolved? 2. Immobilizer: Will the light on the cluster stay off without any additional modification? 3. Emissions: The standalone doesn't have any functionality for secondary air, evap, or cataylictic converter? So there should be no need for adding resistors when deleting those components? 4. CEL: Will the CEL be thrown for things like fuel trim (vacuum leaks), MAF failure, etc... or will the CEL remain or forever?

I ended up buying the 1.8t PNP and theres a bit of wiring to be done, no where near as much as if you went with any other standalone though. traction control was just a problem with their car. works fine on mine. immobilizer light isnt on for me you do not need resistors for any emissions you delete, i went so far as to remove the wires for all emissions in the entire harness, just to clean things up. the CEL will turn on for what you tell it to turn on for. IE faults with certain sensors, sensors reading out of parameters (temp or pressure) CEL will not remain on forever...unless your car has a problem forever. lol

Really like what your doing with this. You mentioned Ignitron, It's even easier to install than EMU as it was designed to replace the ME7.X ECU . Comes with base maps installed to cover pretty much any car using ME7 ECU. Intergrates seemlessly with the stock car, connects to other modules via the CAN bus giving ABS wheel speeds, Oil temperature from the cluster if the car has an oil level sensor fitted, controls the haldex if you disable the ABS, supports DQ250, DQ500 DSG gearboxes, anti lag,rolling anti lag, flex fuel etc etc. Direct connection to a windows tablet to display gauges , Logs in real time continuously upto around 30 parameters. Logs all parameters, hundreds of things including all the status bits if you want to allow you a full log of an acceleration run or dyno pull. Plus many other things. I had never tuned a petrol car before building the engine on my MK1 TT. It's currently running around just over 510bhp on a G25-660 with a 2012 Audi TTS DSG box that I fitted. kzbin.info/www/bejne/laWQgXarn56VsNE kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3_dlWp9nbeaeJY

I've dealt with smaller companies like this in the past, remember I'm old. It typically doesn't last as folks move on and support and hardware falls behind. I get that Ignitron works, but a perfect example is on their website it says supports 5cyl... when I contacted them about doing one of our 5cyl projects they're reply was "we don't have any 5cyl running this ECU". This simply proves the size of the operation, and customer base. Also that ECU is specific to that platform (basically). EMU Black can run whatever you want, and in most cases very easily. Sure Ignitron can work, but when comparing it to this... I would chose the EMU Black time and time again, it's just as easy to install, and has amazing support, and you don't have to worry about it being left behind when it comes to software/hardware.

@@COMotorsports I get everything that you say and it is a pretty small outfit. 5 cylinder cars are not as common in Europe as they appear to be in the states/ Canada. ignitron does give the same functions and full oem support, the ability to expand, etc. oem 4bar map support, or any aftermarket, true speed density or alphaN(mafless), or any maf you want to scale, traction control variations, boost by gear, haldex control, me7.5 car support(s4, 24v VR,etc), the ability to add to the ecu, has full lambda control on board, can run 2 with the new firmware update, and sooo much more, etc etc. You can still use the DLC(obd port) to run torque pro and such, but like the emu black, it doesn't support emissions testing YET. Having installed, built, swapped and tuned many 1.8t's(and other engines from various makes and models) I personally choose ignitron after tuning a few cars with it a couple years ago. I still think, top three PnP for 1.8t, in order are... 1)ignitron 2)emu black 3)haltec The difference between 1/2 and 3 for plugnplay simplicity is fairly large, but the haltec is just as powerful, though it has less oem component support in my opinion. But I don't have a cool youtube channel ;) regardless, you guys keep knocking it out of the park.

The difference for us is this... I've been doing reflashing tuning for a long time. I've seen plenty of clients move from one project to the next, or swap engines etc. This option allows you to grow and doesn't simply back you into a corner. You guys played around with Ignitron at all? Edit: nvm, I see you mentioned them in the video. What functionalities are you referring to? They have flex fuel capabilities, self learning, speed density, rolling launch, boost by gear, limp modes for user set values of lambda, timing pull, etc.

Nope, I tried for a 2.5 5cyl project we have which their website states their ECU works with. When I reached out to them their answer was "We don't have any 5cyl's running our ECU".... at that point I knew I should look elsewhere.
@WyGuyTurbski3 жыл бұрын
@@COMotorsports I see it does say 2.5 on their website. Interesting. I'm in a few ignitron specific 1.8t groups as well as general big turbo 1.8t groups and people seem to love them. I'm going to be acquiring one for my b6 here in a couple months when they're back in stock.
@COMotorsports3 жыл бұрын
@@WyGuyTurbski My issue is this... take it for what you will. I've used quite a few standalones over the years, the biggest thing I can recommend from my experiences and money and time wasted, is buy something that is more mainstream. When it comes to support, product development be it software or hardware you know things are going to continue on. As time goes on the smaller more specific outfits typically start to disappear and the product dies off leaving you in the dark with old hardware and software. The more mainstream outfits will continue on supporting and making hardware and software as it's their full time business, not a side hustle. So my opinion is think long term for the reasons listed above. Also maybe you won't even want that car or engine in a few years, something like this can easily move with you.

My 05 gli 1.8t came with 4 tune slots on the factory ecu the. Via. Cruise control.stock .. I'll have to turn the cruise control and hold down on it until I check engine light flashes a certain amount of times one slow flash ..means stage 1x amount of boost...do same steps again and hold ... flashes and this time wait a little longer and u will see the check engine light flash keep holding till u see it flash two times that will be stage two tune boost keep holding and get three flashes third so on and so forth u can also lock it in valet mode limits it to 5lbs of boost so if it girls got the car she can't get all boost crazy lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣...but ya 05 GLI 6spd.has 4 tune spots u just got to tune it
@COMotorsports3 жыл бұрын
That is an APR tuned ecu. We've been an APR dealer for a long time. Also, it doesn't switch between stages, it switches octane files. So if you're stage one all the files are stage 1 but different octane levels. If your stage 2, or stage 3 same rules apply. It's octane files specific to that stage.

Does this come pretuned? Like you said it had 2step. When you order the ecu, will it come already flashed? I’d be able to just plug it in, let it warm up, and boom I got 2step?
