Well done for highlighting the fact that the secondary throttle plates do help lower rev power, so many tuners just make them go wide ....in the times of carbs, flatslide carbs effectively let you go wide open lowdown...and the bike hated it ! even with fuel injection a similar effect takes place - drop in inlet velocity. Keep up the no BS info 👍

Have you ever tried cam timing to adjust your power curve. 95hp is nice on the road but to much everywhere else.

If anything, and only seeing a 10% gain over the power band, it really states to me that Honda did their homework in devising a bike/motor that can’t really be drastically improved unless you change its use or need. Off road nobody needs that kind of over run. On the strip? Sure!

@@meroj1935 would you charge more? My local tuner wants £700!!! It's £400 for a manual! Apparently they need an extra computer to lock out dct! I asked why they don't just put it in manual mode, he put the phone down!

Find a KTM 1090 or 1190 Or an 890 Adv R. Ultimately it's all in how they are tuned. Compression ratio, cams, throttle bodies, valve size, bore/stroke ratio, and how bulky the crankshafts are.

Honda specifically tunes the Africa Twin for low and mid-range torque. The 2024 version has perfected this application. 130+ horsepower is more than likely in there if needed, but it is not all efforts are made to give it grunt rather than make it a high revver. Hi revving is the way to higher power figures but Honda isn't interested in the context of their flagship ADV bike - it simply isn't needed. Go ride a 2024 AT with DCT in S3 mode and you'll see what I mean. Unholy amount of acceleration off the mark and to 140kph. The difference in the 0-100kph (62mph) acceleration time between AT and Multistrada is less than 1 sec. AT had 101hp and Multi has 170hp. This is what I mean when I say Honda has brought all it's engineering prowess to created a usable low down torque application instead of crazy high end/ high rev power nonsense that rarely gets used on an everyday ride, especially an adventure ride off road where low-medium immediate grunt is everything. Those 170 horses at 8,000++ rpm are useless off road and urban situations.
