U2 released this hopeful song in October 2000. A celebration of the new millennium perhaps. It was a huge hit in the US and Europe. 12 million copies of the album sold worldwide, with hundreds of thousands of copies also sold in Brazil, Japan, Argentina, Mexico, and South Africa. U2 was at the peak of a career that began in October 1980. You might get a kick comparing them at 40 in the "Beautiful Day" video with them at 21 performing "I Will Follow" on The Old Grey Whistle Test or the video they made for "Gloria" where they're playing on a barge on the waterfront in Ireland. I remember seeing that one on MTV way back when.

Wonderful comment in regards to one of my favourite bands of all-time - and, wow, the memories of U2's album October! U2's "War" opened up this amazing band to the world. U2's "Unforgettable Fire" record and their "Wide Awake in America" continued the unstoppable momentum; then U2's "Joshua Tree" album changed their staus forever, cementing U2 as one of the best bands ever. And U2's career propelled throughout the decades, vastly brilliant and successful.
