The reason jump attacks aren’t working is because the devs knew how strong they were and deliberately made it ineffective and inconsistent on tougher enemies. You have to actually improve in the rest of the combat loop. Jump attacks have a purpose but it can’t be crutched on hard mode.

Hell it's so easy that it's the very first souls game to not get a collection of games urinalists complaining that it should have an easy mode! On the contrary, they released a bunch of articles saying "how to activate easy mode" 😂 And also let's not forget Miyazaki himself saying that they didn't make elden ring to be challenging like other souls games, they made it to be "accessible" (aka easy) so everyone can finish it. And they did that successfully given the trophies and achievements stats. But fuck the stats and the makers of the game, what YOU say is clearly more important.

Coming from a vet from both genres. After playing all Team Ninja’s games and all Software’s DS series I can honestly say NG1 is HARDER then DS1. As said by Miyazaki himself, “Dark souls isnt about the difficulty. Its about accomplishment by overcoming tremendous odds.” If a boss 1 shots you it’s your fault it’s avoidable and you can potentially 1 shot it or beat it by farming souls and upgrading stats and weapons. In NG1 hard mode there is no potential it’s either your skilled or not lol dying isn’t a mechanic, upgrades can’t lead you to OP builds, this game has little to no room for error off the jump.

Afro, Idk if you'll see this but a good way to maneuver in this game is by dashing while on the ground and jumping which can also be useful during combat to avoid enemies attacks and projectiles, and the yellow and blue orbs aren't just health and points to buy things with but you can utilize them in combat as well when the dead enemies drop them by charging your heavy attacks (Holding triangle) with the orbs they drop and the heavy attacks charge immediately letting you get it off quicker, and doing those are a good way to obviously deal damage but also avoid taking damage since you're invincible during it but you can also use both the movement tech together with the charging because as you're doing the movement (dash and jumping) you don't pick up any orbs floating around so you can like save them for whenever you land and charge your heavy attacks whenever you really need it during a fight. Hope this made sense and helps and I've personally been enjoying the Ninja Gaiden videos a lot, I was really surprised when I saw you upload the first video cause I never expected you to play this series but I'm really glad you did because despite it being hard it's a lot of fun to play once you get the hang of it but keep up the good work.

So I've finished the main game and Eternal legends on Master Ninja difficulty and all I have to say is that u have to "learn" this game...u have to get comfortable with it's mechanics... learn the roll jump, get comfortable with rolling in one direction and jumping in another direction, learn hit confirm, get to know invincibility frames... it's somewhat similar to beat em up games, I'd say learn on landing UTs... and the IZUNA DROP!! That'll help you alot!! Watch video tutorials of Jaytb... that can give u a good insight into the game mechanics and also watch many gameplay videos of the game... that'll surely help!!

The spirit of the devils actually increases the amount of ultimate's (ninpo) you have, so it's better to get that and use it right away, it kinda like the life of the gods. You can also view combos by going to the weapon in the menu and pressing triangle. Good luck dude, your gonna need the energy

While charging heavy attack u can absorb souls, which speeds up ur charging. You can press Y exactly at landing after jump to instant charge. Then here's the tricky thing: kill - charge to absorb the soul for instant charge - release charge and kill. This tech is very useful in Ninja Gaiden 1&2.

Afro, for the love of god. USE YOUR UTs (charged attacks). They’re basically a guaranteed kill, can hit multiple enemies, and you’re invincible while doing them. Also use the orbs dropped by enemies to charge near instantly.

This game is hard but if you get izuna drop(a air grab combo that insta kill normal enemies) you gonna do good. you can also dodge on the ground or stall in the air with long range weapons if it gets really bad. you can also use orbs enemies drop to charged attacks instant. Just a tip pressing square and X at the same time allows you to jump toward enemies making the flying swallow a lot easier to pull off. Another thing holding triangle allows you to do a charge attack and using it when orbs are present makes the charge up faster

You can open up most enemies by starting combos with squear then end them off with a trinagle in the combo. In other words, mixing in some normal combos makes it easier to kill most enemyes since they start up faster and are hard to avoid. Alot of enemy types are good at avoiding trinagle moves by themselves.

Bro the secret to beating the game is actually learning the combos and taking advantage of each weapon's unique properties. Like the staff can literally drape enemies off the ground while you're already airborne. Some weapons are good for quick enemies, some are better for big enemies, some are better for crowds and some are better for 1v1. Doing the same thing over again will 100% get you killed. at least learn the Izuna Drop. ._.

Afro a real easy and quick way to get around and dodge is jumping and rolling. Run jump once u hit the floor roll and repeat. Faster to get around and easier to dodge to not take unnecessary dmg.

Nothing wrong with air attacks Afro. I personally abused the flying attack with the dragon sword when playing on hard myself but you might want to learn some of the combos at some point as well as some of the dash movement and the fact that you can press the projectile button almost whenever.

Dude, if your weapon already lvl 2, you can do air combo : square, triangle to launch, then 4 times square followed by triangle. Also you can traverse area faster by alternating dodge (block then tilt the left analog) and jump - this is useful for normal and boss fight as well

Some Ninja Gaiden tips: Pressing ⬛ and X allows Ryu to hop over a foe and take distance useful when cornered. For the parry, block, wait for an attack and just as the attack is connecting with your guard press triangle (you can't parry every attack). Some enemies catch you jumping so is best to just roll and don't let go of guard because the effect never leaves even when you're rolling. Orbs has 2 different uses if you charge the orbs will travel toward Ryu instantly giving him his charge attacks. Yellow orbs are currency but when charged it instantly gives you lv1 charge attack instead. Blue orbs are obviously health, gives you lv2 charge (full) so you would exchange health/currency for some crowd control and swag. Every weapon has 2 charge attacks so experiment with them. Press L1 to center the camera it, alleviates the problem. ✌️

I came here to say thank you Afro. Elden Ring was my first souls game and it led me to your channel. I’m about to finish my play through as well. I beat Malenia and I found myself yelling “CRAM!” When I was dodging 😂 Also I’m super with you playing Ninja Gaiden cause I played that back in high school. It really sounds like a lot of your gripes fall in line with what I said was one of the main things people had an issue with regarding Sigma: the control. In Sigma, Ryu just doesn't move quite as fluidly as he did in the OG Xbox game or Black, and some of his movements are strangely restricted and/or stilted. Even the original game wasn't 100% smooth, but I'd say it was about 95% reliable compared to what they did here. The director of the previous releases had nothing to do with this release, and a lot of people site that as a possibility as to why the moment-to-moment gameplay just feels like a lesser experience. It's still good because of the core game, but it's a far cry from anything before it in the eyes of many in terms of control. That in particular is a big reason why people were absolutely pissed that Black wasn't included in the Master Collection. Team Ninja actually addressed this and said that the only reason Black wasn't in the collection was because apparently they lost the source code for Black. Idk how that means anything since Ninja Gaiden Black has been on Xbox Live Arcade for 360 and Xbox Gamepass for Xbox One and Series X/S for years now, but it sadly is what it is. Also, I don't think many blame you for using air attacks as much as you have; that's a common tactic for people new to the game! XD Also, one more thing, the block in this game is a lot more lenient than you may believe; it's reliable enough that you can literally be holding block down as you're in the middle of a grounded attack and often times Ryu cuts his animation and auto-blocks if an enemy attacks him during his move. It's watered down a bit in Sigma because you don't have 360 degree blocking in this release in as many situations as in the original and Black, but it still gets the job done. In fact, you can block-cancel and even dodge-cancel out of a lot more than you may realize. Ninpo can also cancel basically any of your ground actions and works as a great "get off me" for enemies, too! Any action that cancels can also cut landing lag, which is why a lot of experienced players roll and/or block a lot of times immediately when they hit the ground. Rolling even gets you a generous amount of i-frames in a lot of cases, too!!

You get used to it if you're willing to play the game multiple times , there are times and enemies that are annoying no matter what but the game gets easier the more you know about it and the more you play it obviously . I played the black version of this game on an emulator last year which is said to be the best and most difficult by most people and honestly it wasn't as bad as people were making it out to be . The preparation in this game is as important as the combat itself , if you go fight a boss with nothing good luck to you but if you save your potions/scrolls and do smart upgrades you won't have a very bad time at all , heck I have beaten every mission mode including eternal legend on master ninja difficulty and that is so much harder than the campaign portion of the game on master ninja .

I sincerely hope you play the entire series. Honestly, I'd even say play 3 before 2. The 2nd is easily the best. Although, even as a hardcore fan, there are elements of 3 that I wished were in the other games.

you gotta remember, this game came out in the ps3 days(maybe further back than that).....when games were mostly on a disc, came in a case, and with a manual/small booklet that told you the basics of the game... a time when games had actual big book guides that told you how to beat it, and find stuff as well.... gaming was very different back in the early 2000s

Bro you do realize you could have just put this on NORMAL difficulty and it's just as hard as most games "Very Hard" difficulty?? Idk why in the hell you chose to put Ninja Gaiden on HARD for your first time. Like stop torturing yourself and change the difficulty!
