Are foreign workers taking American trucking jobs? Is Cabotage via B1 Visa screwing the American trucker? Today's cabotage violations reveal a loophole that's been exploited for decades. U.S. carriers are accused of hiring B1 visa drivers from Mexico to haul loads within the US, undercutting trucker wages and harming American truck drivers.
In this video, we break down:
How B1 visas are misused for Cabotage violations
The impact on U.S. truck driver jobs and trucking wages
The truck driver shortage in Mexico caused by this cabotage practice
How this issue has been going on for over 25 years!
Is Canada doing the same thing?
We'll also discuss what can be done to protect American trucking jobs and ensure fair competition in the trucking industry. Don't miss this important trucking video!

My company wont send me to California because of this. The breaking of cabotage laws with regard to B1 drivers out of Laredo is so rampant. Everyone is breaking them except for the very large companies that are supposed to be under more scrutiny, but there is no scrutiny to be found anywhere . We have to call CBP in Laredo when we see B1 drivers bring empties into shippers in Laredo and we have to flood their answering machine with reports of violations to force their hand into enforcing these damn laws. I called just one truck dealer in Oklahoma and he said they’re repossessing 90+ trucks a month. It is all because of what’s happening with B1 drivers. That truck dealer did not even know what a B1 driver is. The lobbyists and large “international” companies are intentionally trying to keep us from knowing. Only drivers who live and truck out of Laredo know what’s happening, and of course the primary culprits- the large truck companies and their lobbyists such as Pam transport, DB Shenker ( USA truck) etc. How come there is nothing in the news about what’s happening with B1 drivers and the US trucking industry? I tried to contact OMG/Project Veritas about this but apparently they’re too interested in drama involving gay dating websites or something. All these lease purchase and owner operators losing their shirts will surely cause a crash. They already outsourced all our factory jobs. That’s why we truck. They take away our trucking industry what will we do? Make tik tok videos? And btw, what the hell are American truck companies doing hiring foreign nationals to drive for them for 28 cents a mile? It’s not even outsourcing anymore- like some bizarre new thing called “insourcing”??!! It’s American truck companies on American soil that are replacing US truck drivers with foreigners!!! What the hell? I thought that was unlawful? Hasn’t there already been a precedent set with Western Express losing a court battle after they underpaid drivers intentionally? How are they getting away with exploiting poor Mexican nationals , who if they dont load up two huge igloo coolers with cheap food before going to Michigan etc, hardly have any money left once they get back to Mexico because the truck stop food is way overpriced for someone making 28 cents a mile?

I saw this posted this morning their using b1 MEXICAN TRUCK DRIVERS. I knew they were using Mexicans to do this. I just didn't have the power to investigate it. The gov & truck business in CA are using the also. CA allowed illegals to get drivers licenses so they could get around to the Tratiors jobs. In CA they also let another Asian to drive you see Indains & Pakistanis all over at the truck stops.

Under the law you are allowed to p.u. In the u.s. and go to any point in Canada or Mexico. You are not allowed to pu in u.s. and go to any point in the u.s. You are allowed to p.u. In the u.s. and deliver in the u.s. if it on a direct line with the load you have p.u. In the u.s. to Canada. Example; p.u. 1st Load in tx going to Winnipeg, mb and as you are passing (2nd load )Fargo you drop in Fargo. You can not p.u. two loads in tx, 1 for Winnipeg and 1 for Ga. Ga is not in a straight line to Winnipeg, it is out of the way. Penalty if you are caught, 10000 $ ,arrest jail deportation, banned from future visits to u.s. and seizure of your vehicle, that you don’t get back.

Two years ago lobbyists for large global truck companies in the US went to congress to change one cabotage law that was in place to protect US drivers. That law prohibited B1 drivers from teaming. Once they changed that the floodgates opened. Whats worse is there are 1000+ small truck companies in Laredo that they and their B1 drivers are breaking multiple cabotage laws on an hourly basis. Just in Texas alone there are over 30,000 B1 drivers operating. Just in Texas! So there’s a driver shortage? And what happened to the old rule that when there is a demand for work the wages go up? 28 cents a mile for a B1 that could have 20 years experience, doesn’t matter. The smart ones have to load up big coolers with cheap food. Everyone loses

Thanks for stopping by. I've seen this from Canadian carriers many times over the years. In the past we were able to dispatch Canadian carriers but load boards have changed their rules and so now we only work with dual-authority carriers from Canada. It's the global economy that is pushing for this to happen. Unfortunately it does happen and often without any negative repercussions, otherwise it wouldn't be as rampant. I'm hearing from others in the comments who are in the Laredo area and are saying it's been an ongoing issue and now rates have completely plummeted.

Im at a reefer shipper in SC. I parked next to a B1 that drives for a small company in El Paso Tx. I asked him in Spanish where he was going after getting loaded. He said Laredo. I asked him if he was delivering at a warehouse in Laredo, which is against cabotage law, he answered yes. I dont have a choice but to take pictures of the tractor, the plates and the trailer. Btw, it’s a Swift trailer. If Swift is knowingly breaking law by trying to put “blame” on the small trucking company in El Paso it doesn’t matter. Swift, the small company AND the B1 driver are ALL CULPABLE. Everyone should be doing this type of reporting ASAP. It doesn’t even take that much Spanish to dig. Btw, I’ve contacted the Teamsters Union in my region today. Being from Texas I never thought I would’ve ever thought it necessary to organize/ join a union but the time has come. My fear is that lobbyists are trying to change more laws that protect the US trucking industry at this moment. We don’t have a choice. Additionally, I must add that I notice a pattern when I inform shippers and brokers about the B1/cabotage problem. To my shock many have thanked me for the information only to follow suit with switching over to B1s because “everyone is doing it”

This video is way overdue. Large US truck company lobbyists such, as Pam Transport, USA truck/DB Shenker etc. went to congress two years ago and secretly lobbied to change one cabotage law that was put into place for one reason and that reason was TO PROTECT AMERICAN DRIVERS. Those lobbyists managed to convince congress to change that law which simply prohibited B1 drivers from teaming. After that was changed and they were allowed to team, the floodgates opened. Pam transport was one of the first companies to start shuttling foreign nationals across the bridge to the Pam terminal in Laredo where as many as 50 B1s a week went and still go through orientation. It doesn’t matter if the B1 has 3 or 30 years driving experience Pam is paying them 28 cents a mile and promising them permanent residence after 3 years. They and the lobbyists and congress need to be sued. This also opened the floodgates when word got out to all the small and medium sized truck companies based in Laredo. The ones who are breaking all the cabotage laws are the small companies in Laredo. I am witness to this all the time. They’re warehousers/shippers, dispatchers, brokers and company owners breaking several cabotage laws on a daily basis flagrantly. I called CBP to report them and CBP is not enforcing the laws at all. The small truck companies are intentionally sending B1 drivers with single US plates to avoid scrutiny. They’re doing local loads in Laredo. They’re constantly picking up loads that originate in Laredo. Theyre going to multiple stops and destinations in the US. They bobtail all around Laredo and park the tractor at Walmart and Target and basically live in the US. Im talking thousands on a daily basis. They are all paid 28 cents a mile or less. In my research I found out that you actually have to report most of these activities to ICE, believe it or not. But you cannot call ICE to report. Instructions are to go online to the ICE website and make a report. Bur everyone must do this!!!! In Texas alone at any given time there are over 30,000 B1 drivers! That’s just Texas! B1 drivers and their law-breaking employers make Canadian drivers look like saints, btw. Ther is no comparison. B1 drivers and their American employers are destroying the US trucking industry and no doubt will crash the economy. I called just one large truck sales lot in Oklahoma and they said they’re repossessing 90 trucks a month from owner operators. Let’s organize and do something!!!!!

I’ve been researching this for two years and have worked for 4 companies that have screwed over US drivers in Laredo in favor of cheap B1 drivers which are being exploited thereby cheapening frieght. I have recordings and photos and videos and will continue to be vigilant. Still to this day when I talk to 100 American truck drivers that arent from Laredo it never fails that all 100 haven’t even heard of what a B1 is. Please get the wors out before otsbto late. I have contacted the teamsters through email even though I’m usually anti-union. We don’t have a choice anymore

There is also a shortage of drivers in Europe. However, so that drivers’ salaries do not grown up to 8, 10, 12, etc. thousands euros per month in Europe there is a legal opportunity to invite drivers from other countries. In the USA, such visas for temporary workers are only available in agriculture, as far as I know.

I’m surprised that you don’t know that American driver can actually pick up a load in Canada and delivered in Canada. I’ll give you an example part of your load is going to Toronto so you deliver that load in Toronto your other load is going to Winnipeg in Toronto you find a load that is going to thunder Bay And it will fit in your trailer so you can pick that up and deliver it in thunder Bay and it is totally legal to do so as long as you do not divert to deliver that load off of the main route to your destination
