When I hear the phrase 'dynamite comes in small packages' the first player that comes to my mind is Billy Bremner! The guy was a mini tornado on the pitch, and boy, did he leave his mark on Leeds United!
Some say he had the most iconic moments in the history of football, and others say “We agree” but when did this actually start? How and when did Billy fully realize that he is indeed a legend? Let’s slowly turn the pages of his book and find out the reality.
Born in Stirling, Scotland, in 1942 Bremner wasn't the tallest guy around, but he had a heart the size of a lion. Of course, Billy’s career is full of unforgettable moments that show just how skilled and determined he was on the field. But no matter how hard you deny it, these 3 iconic moments are what made him a TRUE FOOTBALL LEGEND.
On number 3 we have the 1968 Fairs Cup Final. The 1968 Fairs Cup Final was a massive game for Leeds United. They were dying to win their first big European trophy, and the pressure was on against Ferencváros, a really strong team from Hungary. But their captain, Bremner, was a legend. He wasn't just a bossy leader, he was an inspiration to his teammates with his boundless energy and tough tackling. At last, he ran his socks off and it was that effort that helped them win the game and put Leeds on the map in European football.

Absolutely nothing in this video that we all didn't know before. No revelations, no dark side uncovered, a waste of 10 mins.

I don't know anything about football BUT many of the people I worked with at the time this guy was playing mentioned him. He seems to have been a standout player and respected and admired for what he did and this video shows that admirably. Thanks for this and RIP great man.

Love the iconic image of Dave Mackay gripping Bremner by the throat & "hard man" Bremner shitting himself. Two Scottish players, one a real hard man, the other just dirty.

Liverpool also kicked their way trophies Tommy Smith, Ron Yates and Jimmy Case made sure of that... .The top league in England division 1 every side had a hard man or 3. Not just Leeds United. ... But everyone forgets this. ..

Took a bit more than just 'kicking' to win trophies. But granted, a couple of hard men in the mix usually ensured some success.

The dirtiest player in the dirtiest team in the country back when football was a lot rougher than it is today. Bremner was also involved in the bribery that Don Revie, the Leeds manager, offered to opposing players to throw games. Gary Sprake, a Leeds goalkeeper, spilled the beans about this.

A legend! Really? I saw him kick Pele all over the pitch at Hampden Park in the 60s in a 1-1 draw. It was one of the most disgraceful performances I've ever seen. I also saw him and Johnny Giles, a far better (and harder but not as dirty) footballer being given the runaround by Bobby Murdoch and Bertie Auld when Celtic took that much-vaunted Leeds team apart twice in the European Cup semifinal in 1970. I'll look out for your videos in future, mate, and be sure to avoid them. 🇮🇪

As an Arsenal supporter i hated him as they hated Arsenal, they got away literally with murder on the pitch through bullying and bribery even their own fans turned on him eventually no way was he a legend there were far better midfielders than him, the nickname dirty Leeds still resonates today, one incident that still haunts me is Gary Sprake knocking out Bobby Gould with a punch at Highbury i was 12 at the time and standing right behind the goal when it happened 5 yards away, and he never got sent off? the only good part of this vid is the comments telling the truth.
