Congratulations. I also made another excavator acquisition recently as I considered the Hyundai 210 and 220. My research however concluded that the Hyundai depreciates year over year significantly more than a CAT, Deere, or a Komatsu, my concern was resale value/trade value when I sell/trade in 3-5 years.

I thought at the start with the thumb fitting AND 2D system install was a good indication of he was already invested. Then when the 140 went sealed the deal. The fluids trailer was the cherry on top.

The good news is most of your gripes with it appears to be software. These can be easily fixed by the manufacturer (if they are willing) sign of a good machine as those tweaks can be pushed out as a software update, rather than phsycial changes.

Congratulations on the new member of the family. From the videos, it appears to compliment the fleet, much more than the 140 did and it will allow you to take on jobs that you may have had to pass on prior. I have pulled wrenches on heavy equipment for a good portion of my life, I have to admit, I am very impressed with the layout and access to everything. I was very impressed by the engine compartment layout. As you said, for a modern piece of equipment the entire engine is accessible. So many things these days to service them you have to almost tear everything down to replace something simple. When you are out in the field, each minute that machine isn't running is a minute you're losing money. I wish more things were built with ease of service in mind!

Shocker! never saw that one coming 🙃! In the years that I have followed DP, I have not seen him hold back telling about something he didn't like. The Hyundai demos were the only things he never had complaints about. The only question was, would he be willing to dig up all of his buried money jars to pay the big bucks for a new machine. Congratulations Mike!🎊🎉💥🍻 It's a big deal to purchase a brand new piece of equipment. We know you tried to hide the sticker for quite some time, but it was seen several times in passing. I knew by the 3rd or 4th video of you actually really working that machine you were probably keeping it. Your practical point of view evaluation is spot on. As a certified diesel engine mechanic for over 40 years, these new Hyundai machines have greatly improved. I agree with your perspective, the 4 cylinder 210 is about as efficient as they come for size, weight, and capacity. I especially like your consideration of moving parts in the engine compared to the 6 cylinder 220 model. The main advantage the 6 cylinder has is the ability to maintain the smooth even power distribution in a larger machine, but at the increased fuel consumption rate and higher maintenance costs over time with more oil per change, DEF consumption per gallon of fuel burned, and regen cycle times which also consume more fuel. Of course what you use the machine for will determine cost benefit analysis for sure. Thanks for finally getting around to officially letting us know what we already knew.😜🤣🤙

I’ve got a tier 3 (no def/ dpf) Cummins QSB 4.5l in my drill rig, it is a solid engine and I’m not a Cummins guy. It has just over 8k hours and no complaints, just oil and filters so far.

Mike I am pleased that you chose this option to expand your fleet and possibly take on those larger jobs that are out there. I also know that we changed out over time from the Volvo to Hyundai and found we encountered less down time from the get-go. Yes, we have had breakdowns and quirky issues, but our dealer and the manufacturer really stood up to the plate. So, I do hope that you have the same return from your investment that we did. By the way the machine comes with the brute strength, but the ignorance comes from some of our operators, and it still performs very well. Stay safe and take care.
