While there are several different sailing channels that offer just as interesting and compelling a story as yours, none tell them with the same kind of grace and skill. It's clear that you value the way you tell your story just as much, if not more, than the story itself. Choice of music, shot selection, and narration all seamlessly come together to provide your viewer with this rich experience. It is not lost on me how much work it must take to make your videos look like like they take no work at all. In a world as confused and difficult as the one we all find ourselves living in today, your channel provides a much needed respite and shows how "simple" life can really be.

Thyborøn, pressure on last syllable. ;-) A thybo is a resident of Thy, a place north of the Limfjord. A røn is some kind of land, not excactly an island but rather close, or it might mean small house/village. Nice video. First to comment, hurra.

Interesting. Being Spanish I thought it meant shark. As it does for us. (Spelled Tiburón) That fact, made me think those markers or memorials were shark fins. Themed accordingly to the name I mistakenly thought was the same. It seemed to fit with the whimsical buildings. Whose roofs were fashioned to look like the hull of an upside down boat. Thank you for the lesson.

North sea in a twenty eight foot boat? No worries, I love small boats, I call it the 'bobbing cork theory'. You will survive almost anything when larger boats have problems. I even crossed the Atlantic, five thousand miles, no problem. The more experience you get the more confidence you will have in your boat....Just replace the rigging every ten years, its important!

Used to do long passages with my 25ft folkboat, in the Baltic Sea. So the movement in a small boat for days on end, and not being able to shower during that time are still remembered as not the nicest parts of a sailing adventure. But it was fun, and I´m very glad that I have all those memories. Great adventure to follow this, and make the most of all sailing possibilities as long as you are young because time passes quickly. So glad that I found your channel, this is the one to follow this coming winter.

I just put a comment on today that I had a Contessa 26 ( a plastic Folkboat) I had a Folkboat before her, East German and very basically equipped. I pretty much taught myself to sail in her on the West Coast of Scotland. I know how you feel as I was seventy this year and I fear next year will be my last year sailing. I sail a plastic French boat now with all the mod cons but she will never have the place in my heart that my little Contessa has. My hips are letting me down now even with one being titanium. Good luck and enjoy the memories.

3:35 These traditional Dutch sailing barges were used upto around the 20’s/30’s of the last century.... the smaller ones for fishing the longer ones for transport of cargo.... the latter ones usually sailed by man and wife.... liveaboards, travelling as far as way up the Norwegian coast, the Baltic, the UK and the French shore!!..... Because they mostly didn’t own a house (costing money) they were among the last people commercially sailing such smal vessels succesfully in Western Europe. Most of them are realy shallow draft (no keel whatsoever!) but are realy fast, also upwind (long waterline, little wetted area) Every year in Friesland there is a huge competition called ‘Skutsjesylen’ definitely worth looking up on KZbin!! You are sailing the journey I plan to sail myself one day starting in Delfzijl.... I wish you many safe and joyful journeys!!! Kind Regards,Henk Tulp, the Netherlands. Thumb+subscription

The wonderful relatively shallow seas of the North Sea mean that despite its size you don’t get the long ocean swells of the Atlantic Ocean and hence the shorter and nastier wave period. But you saved so much time over going thru the Keel canal it was worth it … Cheers Warren

Getting a little nostalgic while Im in Odessa, Ukraine watching a video about you sailing in my home country. A little comment regarding watch: My experience is the longer watches, the better. It gives you possiblity to tke care of yourself (personal hygene, eat etc) and get e decent sleep. Rest is always in deficit on a long passage (For me it was often 4-6 weeks without seing land) When I was sailing on a Ocean going Tug boat we had 6h/6h or 8h/4h watches

Glad to see that your North Sea passage was semi-eventless and reasonably calm compared to what it could have been. Only individuals that have experienced that can guess what you have felt during the trip, but it’s easy for anyone to understand that a “warm shower” always feels good after a long trip where it’s challenging or very difficult to get one. I’m looking forward to seeing some of the sites that you can share with us and please include the history of any sites you see if it’s known. Safe travels and stay healthy.

Thyborøn remines me of the quant little sea ports on the coast of Newfoundland, especially, when you go up north and visit L'Anse aux Meadows. Love how they flipped those ole ships upside down and used them as roofs for ole merchant shops. That's pretty cool if you ask me. Back in those days they reused everything they didn't let nothing go to waste.

Dear Maya and Aladino. I ended up on your KZbin channel by chance. Probably because of youtube's sometimes unfathomable algorithmic data. I really like people who restore something old or build something themselves. For example, I follow a few canals in which old (stone) houses are being restored. especially Martijn Doolaard's canal is fantastic. This Dutch man does almost everything himself. Last year, he bought a piece of land in northern Italy in the mountains with a few stone houses that he is currently renovating. From all his work, he makes beautiful video reports at a wonderfully slow pace, a breath of fresh air in this hectic and often too fast world. I have the same kind of vibe with your channel. you both radiate a similar energy. both very handy with their own qualities. you make beautiful images and tell very entertaining about your experiences. You complement each other perfectly in almost everything and other than that you are just very nice people who have given up their commitment and made their dreams come true. I looked at almost all posts from the past year yesterday. It is very educational, calming and almost meditative to follow you. Thank you for sharing this on youtube!

Thats probably about the truest comment in here. I am taking sailing courses on my 28ft and everytime I go oh crap, the boat just keeps trucking while we hang on for dear life and the instructor is sitting there calmly. He's been sailing for around 60 years and told us that we have a tough old boat and to trust it.
