Yeah. I think it's an American thing. I've lived in the States but I am French with African parents. This is a way African Americans are trying to "reverse" colorism but are simply perpetuating it unconsciously. It's true that as a dark-skinned black person, it's mostly harder. In an effort to valorize dark skin we shouldn't devaluate other shades (I'm saying this to myself). It's so easy to feel like other shades have it better so they don't need love, compliments or support. That's toxic.

It’s an American thing. My first colorism experience was with a black guy from Louisiana! Never forget when he told us group of african girls that we are so dark skinned and that he was light skinned because his ancestors were not field slaves but house slaves😳😳I was like dang😳😳😳that’s a new level of colorism! when african American folks tell me “your skin is so beautiful “ I cringe cause I know it’s not genuine 🤢

I wasn’t supposed to marry this man.... and my brother dig his hand in his pocket ... pulled out some candy and simply said... well, don’t marry him then... it was “sooo non chalant”... So I thought ... well maybe this is the cold 🥶 feet I’ve heard people talking about- and UNFORTUNATELY for me.. my brother wasn’t spiritually tapped in to hear my heart.. soul.. spirit etc... So even as I was crying walking to the altar- people thought I was crying because I was just aooo happy - I WAS CRYING 😢 because I didn’t want to make this commitment-

I Love how Joy is so very vocal about her faith, and how she indicated becoming saved was her most important leap of faith, and Terrence was next. I also Love how she wanted the "one" for her to literally have the same Love for Christ that she has. It was beautiful how she explained that when she realized that Terrence had that same Love for the Lord, how she knew he would then have that same passion to Love her and want to take care of her, and how she could then follow him anywhere. Absolutely beautiful...I wished they were allowed to talk more about their courtship. When we do things according to the Lord's will, "It's Worth It, So Worth It."

Don’t give up on being open to receive the right love for you! I didnt find my wife until we were both 38, I hadn’t experienced a “real” relationship until her, didn’t live with anyone... didn’t have anything in each other’s names, none of that. So don’t let being 37 make you believe you were meant to be single... as long as you’re open to it... the universe WILL give it to you!

I don't think you are meant to be single Jennifer. I think there's still more growing you have to do within. There's no time limit on finding love. Maybe your purpose is to find love within yourself. You have fulfill yourself first. I say to yourself often "I am worthy of the love i give to myself and the love i will receive from others" When you say that often and pray on it; you'll start to see the change. Your words are energy. Make sure you are speaking positive energy always. Your time will come 😊

18:24 What Im confused on is this: Melanie's father who partnered with and made children with a white woman (per Melanie's own account) then told his interracial daughter SHE needed a black man? (But HE didn't need a Black woman?) I'm confused. That felt more like Black men perpetuating the pressure for Black women to only partner with them, while Black men partner with (and make children with) whomever they please. That is a double standard if I ever did see one.

Reading in between the lines, it seems like Melaine's father eventually awaken to who he really was. Its beautiful that he had such a honest and spiritual relationship with his daughter to share a universal truth with her. People re-vibrate, grow, and change. Based on her brief story of what her father told her about needing a Black man he was able to see, re-vibrate, grow and change if only if it was a little bit.

Not everyone believes in soul mates, so don't assume that. Some people believe in accepting responsibility and committing to it with all of their heart. I do believe that there are very limited amount of people you can connect with on a very deep level. Not all of them you marry, lol, some become friends.

Some people don’t mean any harm and as long as you are living people are going to use the dark skin terminology so you can get upset all you want but I’m sure Joy is used to it and handles it well. Others can learn to correct graciously.

This was perfect. These two couples together have all I desire in a mate and marriage: loves the Lord, willing to adapt and willing to work hard for love in the union ( or relationship active as Anthony said). So perfect. May God continue to bless them all

Talk about trauma! The twins weren't his.😔 That hurt my feelings. So many women and men have experienced so much trauma and men often suffer in silence. I'm happy to see he can heal and move on to a healthy relationship. I don't always agree with the views and opinions of the couples but I appreciate the candor and richness of these conversations. I honestly wasn't expecting this level of openess and substance and I learned a lot. Thank you for this content! 🙂
