Due to the safety roadblocks, I have been unable to walk or drive to these footage areas. I knew that it was bad, but this damage is horrendous. Seeing this is making me sick 😭. That's amazing that that a Walmart trucker did that! They need all the help they can get!! My dad was a trucker for many years when I was growing up. And later I worked for his trucking company in my 20's! I always treat truckers with the utmost respect and go out of my way to make sure they feel appreciated. It's not an easy job, it can be very isolating and lonely, a simple gesture of kindness and respect goes a long way. And stay out of their way. My father instilled those values in me. Without the full walking tour with your comments and the industrial sounds, the devastation would be ‘abstract.’ The severe losses to people’s livelihoods, the loss of jobs, income, resources is beyond mere belief. This will take extraordinary amount of manpower to remove the debris, let alone how people will be able to buy another car to get to work. It’s staggering what the force of the wind and water did. I live in Greenville County, SC - about 45 minutes from Asheville. We got hit hard, but nowhere near as badly as WNC did. I volunteered with clean-up & repair in New Orleans following Katrina. This is hauntingly familiar. So many of the charming little towns & hamlets you see signs for as you drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway are now gone - washed away by floods or mudslides. It is going to take many, many months & even years to recover from this. They are now saying Helene is the 2nd most deadly hurricane since Hurricane Camille in 1969 - with the exception of Katrina (which is the deadliest).

07:02 The food truck was Chaunie's Coffee that was across the street from those apartments😢 My brain can't comprehend this amount of destruction and I've lived thru several major hurricanes. The cleanup afterwards is what takes so much time. I can't imagine dealing with the rocky and treacherous terrain on top of all the damage😟 My heart goes out to all those that have been affected by this. Thank you Jacob for witnessing and bringing awareness to such vast destruction. I hope you, and everyone else, are able to take care of themselves after seeing all that in person.

Jacob, your reporting was great. The devastation is simply biblical.. Jacob, Just a reminder... Stay away from any Gas stations for awhile that we're in the path of the devastation. The fuel is bad and anyone using fuel from those filling stations are doomed and will be plagued by bad fuel. Be safe my friend. Be well. My best to you and Jenn..

Biblical???Did you go through Hurricane Camille in 1969? How about the Hurricane in Texas in 1900 where over 8000 people died. Did you go through Hurricane Andrew in 1992. How about Katrina? Are all of those plus many others BIBLICAL TOO?????? Please explain how this one is BIBLICAL. Strange how no one mentioned the word BIBLICAL, until the MSM started using that term.

My prayers go with the people of your area. I just saw the video of the vlogger Mark Hunycutt showing the devastation in Chimney Rock canyon. He walked the route and talked to some people. One even showed the inside of what the flood did to her house. Unbelievable.

Hello Jacob. Think about all the people who have chronic illnesses. No oxygen tanks, no dialysis sessions and no medication. Hospice patient’s without medical attention. It is so sad. Praying for all the people impacted by hurricane Helene. Stay strong and safe!!

This is heartbreaking and the destruction is beyond belief. I am so sorry to the people that live there. Thank you for showing us what actually happened here. I wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t see this myself. It’s just unbelievable. I’m so sorry❤

Hi Jacob…. My name is Kris. This show brought back so many memories of Florida when Andrew Frances Jeanne Ivan Charlie and even David from 1979 hit Florida…. I am a native here but I seem to stay here because it’s my home. My heart truly goes out to everyone and I’m donating as well because without the help from neighbors way back from those storms mentioned, I may not be here. God bless all in this time of need. Faith have it. Hope have it. Pray…. I cried throughout this video. But it’s reality. Mother Nature is powerful. Come together one and all. Rebuild a stronger village. God bless!!!! So glad u and Jen are safe and your family and other families. We pray from south Florida for you all. Much love and please if you can fellow Americans donate if you can anything. Love you all. God Bless….

Thank you for covering this. I live in Swannanoa, one of the worst hit areas. Fortunately, our building remained intact, we just lost power and water. But the devastation all around is truly biblical and surreal. No one expected a storm like this to cause this kind of damage so far inland, but the combination of having so many rivers and streams, many of which were already close to flood levels due to all the rain we had in the weeks prior to Helene, created a "perfect storm" scenario for Helene to do maximum damage. I'm glad you are okay.

Hi Jacob, have watched your channel for quite awhile. Unbelievable what your area is going through. I’m from Ohio and our electric co op have linemen headed your way this morning (Friday) and tomorrow a truck headed your way with cleaning supplies etc . Love when you have Jenny on with you. You two are so cute together ❤

The United Cajun Navy does great things and have been all over the hardest hit areas rescuing people and getting much needed medicine and supplies to them. They've done it all over the country as well

Spent so many memorable hours shopping at The Tobacco Barn Antique Mall, eating at that McDonald's over the years with my family. Cant believe the destruction & seeing it here on this vlog makes it all real. Thank you for doing this...i know it must be so much worse in person...but the aftermath of Helene must be documented. 💐

I’ve seen the news reports, but this series of videos has surpassed them in showing the toll of the hurricane on communities. Extremely moving and sad to see.

If you are watching mainstream news you will not see the whole picture and complete devastation in these areas. 😢

I've heard from Michigan storm chasers on Facebook it's about 220 human lives lost and over 300 missing still But it's just depressing as it's one f category higher then Katrina

Jacob, that huge storage tank was creaking when you were near it. You are truly a brave person. I hope everyone in the Ashville area can recover from this.

Gosh, that tank was immense, I feel so bad for everyone in Asheville, I cannot even imagine what they are going through, having to start their lives over after losing everything. Thank you for showing us what happened there.

Thank you for the video. Asheville is one of my favorite places in the world, and for years now Ive been taking a road trip there around the fall season. It breaks my heart. But the people there also love it, and Im sure they will bring it back better than ever. The Old Tobacco Barn...I have such a soft spot for that place💔💔
