Some of my favorite memories are when I was stationed at the Coast Guard base in Elizabeth City and traveled often to the Smokies with my roommate back 50 yrs ago. Such a special place, I weep thinking of all that has been lost, but am so thankful to see the goodness in humanity helping to bring the communities back. Thankyou so much for documenting all those helping.

We were just watching another one of Johns videos on how the storm devastated this area. My one comment is, You can tell it isn't a "government job" because there aren't a lot of guys standing around holding up shovels, like all the government jobs do. Good Job Guys, helping people who have no hope other than the help that volunteers are giving. God Bless you all, for helping all you can.

I'm in the uk, so this may well be a very naive question - is it possible to get mobile saw mills in there and use some of those downed trees to make log cabins for folks who now have no homes? The cold season is coming on so it may not be viable right away, but that loss of green gold and Autumnal beauty could be a solution. Couldn't it? My prayers go out to you all, those in need and those providing aide. 💜 Mother Nature is so powerful.

The logs have to be removed (topography), sorted by size (many too big), let to dry, peeled, transported to sites, not all trees make good cabins. Sounds good… not really practical.

Thank you veterans and citizens for coming up to the plate. Government is not responsible and cannot do much for these emergency situations. We have to step up and take care of our own. Bless you all for helping those affected by Helene.
Getting to see all the people helping rebuild - using their skills and equipment and willingness to work to help put a stranger's life back together, and know how much of it is made possible by small money donations coming in from all over - you're doing great work documenting it so well, and putting it out. And that song is great.
