I'm autistic and often take sayings literally and assume they mean what is being said etc like Karl with the glass houses. I often need someone to explain what it is supposed to mean and what it is representing for me to understand it as a saying. Some things I never grasp for some reason. I also think the same about food, to me for is functional, you eat to live, I find most food bland and I often just describe how I just shove it into my face. I can often relate to Karl's responses and thoughts about things. Thank you for your reaction videos...

@@vaudevillian7 ah interesting! I've never heard it used as a generic term for 'sweet shop' before. Yes this! I was just about to suggest the same but you beat me to it. It was my first time ever seeing Karl it was I think from the DVD extras of one of Ricky's products. He talks about the usual stuff, freaks, Chinese people, old people. "Meet Karl Pilkington" uploaded by PilkyPilkington. It's kinda low quality but it's watchable, and funny.
@elbecko79694 жыл бұрын
Yes! Meet Karl Pilkington I & II are fantastic!! Although the animation of the podcasts sometimes adds to the humour, I think generally it detracts because it was so pure just listening to the podcasts and imagining the visuals yourself. There are lots of promotional and DVD extra interviews with Ricky, Steve and Karl or Ricky and Karl (a few with Warwick Davis too) on KZbin like Meet Karl Pilkington I & II that are condensed hilarity. The debriefs of Karl's Idiot Abroad journeys are great; really funny!! I think Idiot Abroad itself was good, but it's a lot of Karl being left to his own devices with Ricky and Steve giving him tasks from the end of a telephone and therefore has a slower pace. Personally I prefer it when Ricky and Steve are there to fan the flames; they inject him with topics directly and turbocharge his stupidity. Having said that, Moaning of Life takes things further by completely removing Ricky and Steve from the equation. In that series, Karl is calling the shots and you see him embrace his adventures and actually smile more. He's more at ease - still stupid and funny - but it's nice to see him less stressed.

"People in glass houses... have to answer the door" perhaps one day I'll figure this out, but not today.
@ercanilegroeg4 жыл бұрын
@Peter Phillips no, of course I understand the non allegorical (simple) meaning. "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" is an allegory meaning that "One who is vulnerable to criticism regarding a certain issue should not criticize others about the same issue" (wiki) so adding such a person having to answer the door is an extra allegorical layer.
@ercanilegroeg4 жыл бұрын
@Peter Phillips "your sarcasm was rubbish to the point I felt compelled to reply" great negativity bud, cheers, except I wasn't being sarcastic in the slightest, so what was the point in your response? I was viewing Karl's interesting yet misunderstood spin on an allegory as if it were real. That isn't sarcasm, I simply find Karl's interpretation to be worth a ponder.

The guy would ask them questions and they would blink (But seemingly erratically), then when their eyes would lose focus he's clap or shout and they'd fix their eyes back on him. But they weren't certain if they were doing it consciously, or if it was just reflex

Ricky often lampoons Karl when he is actually correct, which means Ricky is often asserting himself with misplaced smugness, as usual. You want an example? Well the person who - according to Karl - fell out of a plane at normal cruising altitude - it actually happened to some European woman who was subsequently found in the Amazon by an indiginous tribe, after the plane broke up. She was flying with her mother iirc, who like everyone else on board, was killed...Google it! 1-0 to Karl...you're talking shit, Gervais!! I can't be bothered to check the facts, in true Karl style😁 - ergo, there may be some erroneous info above.
