The 2019 GRENKE Chess Classic is a 10-player round-robin held in Germany from 22-29 April. The first 3 rounds are in Karlsruhe alongside the GRENKE Chess Open, then after two additional rounds in Karlsruhe and a rest day the last 4 rounds are in the Kulturhaus LA8 in Baden-Baden. The field features World Champion Magnus Carlsen and fellow Top 10 players Fabiano Caruana, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Vishy Anand and Levon Aronian.
The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves, then 50 minutes for 20 moves and then 15 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. If players are tied for first place a rapid play-off will take place. Official website: www.grenkechessclassic.com

I really enjoyed that and that it could increase all of our vast knowledge. Also, I’ve always wondered why you pick the quote above the board, so cold you explain that as well? Thank you agadmator, and I love your videos!!!

This kid took some really great players to their limit. Anand kind of took him to the cleaners, but he really scrapped with Carlsen and Caruana to the end and looked like he had advantage in both games before making some inaccuracies. Really nice to see someone of that age being able to go up against such great players, but he did beat Gelfand so it's also not that surprising.

@diztiinct Narrow minded. One can love a man emotionally and admirably with having any sexual connotations. 100's of millions of men love Jesus he is a man. 100's of millions of men love Mohamed. Lots of men love Elvis Presley. Are they all gay? I love my son's, I love my brothers, I loved my father. Am I gay? I loved bobby fisher, Paul Morphy and Tal as Chess players and I admire many of their personal attributes. I love Agadmator's chess videos and I admire him as a man. That does not make me gay. Even if I did then what is wrong with that? In any case, the relatively few young ladies who watch these chess videos may have a romantic attraction to Vincent.

The tricky line that you showed at the end where, if Caruana was gullible enough, would have blundered a perpetual check, reminded me of a blitz game where Wesley So and Magnus Carlsen had a very similar position and Wesley was about to promote and DID blunder the perpetual, then Magnus had a big smile on his face because prior to that move he was completely lost. This was painful for me to watch as well as Wesley might be my favorite player.

At 10:02 when Vincent "missed" c3 by Caruana, Stockfish (at depth 32) actually gives white +3 with Qf4. Obviously Vincent has some difficulties with the clock but in my opinion he played very exciting games against Carlsen and Caruana where he really had chances and what else can you ask a 14 year old for? I'm sure his time will come.

Even if he only has half grown masculine features such as facial hair, sexual organs, muscles and broad emotional development? It takes more than good chess play to be a mature adult. Look at Carsen, he is significantly different from his late twenties compared to his early and mid teens. Give the young fellow a break and allow him to develop naturally without inane comments. Legally, in most countries, people don't assume adult status until 18 Y.O. Biologically, full maturity may not occur until 22 - 25 Y.O.

In your sneaky line at 14:12 after Be6, why wouldn't black just capture it with Bxe6? Lol. Even in blitz no one would queen and allow Bxf7+ Kxf7 Rh7+ and allow a chance of some kind of perpetual or even mate by letting the rook come in like that with queen also able to infiltrate down the F file. IMO it's more likely for someone to play Kxf7 than c1=Q and queen allowing Bxf7+ lol.

As per Finegold rules, Vincent should have played for the trick, because tricks are for kids (and he is a kid), also never resign, etc., mainly etc. RAWR
