The 85th edition of the Tata Steel Masters is a 14-player single round-robin taking place from 14-29 January in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands. World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen heads a field that includes Ding Liren, Fabiano Caruana and teenage stars Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Vincent Keymer and Praggnanandhaa.
The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment per move from move 1. A tie for first place will be decided by two blitz (3+2) games. If still tied, the players keep playing single "sudden death" games where White gets 2.5 minutes and Black 3 minutes until one side wins. The monetary prizes will be shared evenly. @@milindhindocha4420 that is fair, however in a serious note Zizek's Interpretation of Hegel based on a Lacanian psychoanalysis not just for me but for many other proper Hegelian is missing the point either. Perhaps there are other interesting Slovenian scholars like Mladen Dolar who have much better perspective on Hegel, check him out and of course Houlgate, Winfiled and few friends of mine like Antonio Wolf who have a youtube channel specifically for Hegel's philosophy! Those are proper path to start Hegel. Cheers.

I agree. This game was next level. I feel like Ding is like Caruana plus creativity and occasionally more daring. Caruana is a machine but Ding has some soecial sauce. However, Caruana has really upped his daringness the last couple years so I can't hold that against him anymore. Anyway, I love Ding's games and style to. It's what I strive for in my own.

Gukesh did not capture Ding's bishop, at 14:25 for free. And would not have lost anything, his knight would still have been defended by his queen. So that was Gukesh's big mistake, as far as I saw in that moment.

@@neerajtatikola4797 I suspect Keres was a cheat in that he would roll over in tournaments to give advantage but Petrosian just played an equalizing style. Petrosian was an alchemist over the chess board, playing into an equal position in 2p moves isn't cheating its great defense.

You guys are talking about two different Petrosians. Tigran Vartanovich Petrosian was a world champion in 60s, he was one of the greatest defenders, and I don't know about any cheating incident with him. Tigran Levoni Petrosian is a current chess player (and yes, his parents named him after the former Champion), and he was cheating in some high-profile online tournament.

I know you like to pronounce names correctly, Agadmator -- you should note that Liren would not be "lier-en", but actually "lee-ren" would be much closer, with the space deliberately between 'lee' and 'ren'. 'Liren', as a word, is a romanization of two characters, Li and Ren. Also Mandarin has tones, so there would be a very specific way of saying the two syllables (well, all three actually, including 'Ding'), though I don't know what the correct pronunciation is offhand.
