My first Agadmator video was like 3-5 years ago. It was a brilliant one with a young Pragga vs an older GM. Since that moment I've watched hundreds of hours of chess videos, I follow the big tournaments and I even started playing and (re)introduced alot of friends to chess. Thanks for everything Agadmator and Pragga! U two together inspired me big time!

I think his classical rating is "top 200", which is still incredible for his age, but I assume if not now then very soon he will be "top 100" in rating. He does seem to be playing at that level now.

Pragg is excellent in opening preparations but his technique to convert an advantage into a clear win as a game progresses to the middlegame and endgame is still suspect, due to his inexperience. The good thing is he himself realizes this shortcoming as he indicated in the post-game interview for this game. As such, he can only continue to improve and become better in the future. A player to watch.

11:28. Black queen is not trapped though. Black can play Bd5 attack the queen. Best white can do is Qxd5, black Nxd5, white Rxd8. White will be up a rook, but with two connected pawns on Queenside, black has something to play. Not as bad as losing a queen

Last year, the Najdorf got absolutely steamrolled. This year, it is the Nimzo... It's funny how there are these trends in Chess. Some years, everyone plays the sicilian, some years, everyone avoids sicilian, or the grunfeld, etc.. And somehow, every year one opening gets absolutely smacked around. Even though all of these have existed for decades

@@davidhale8034 well, it's not that easy. I assume he would win vs Dubov, which for Carlsen's rating would mean +6.2 this tournament and a tpr of approximately 2900. Sorry, I didn't care to look up tables for tournament percentage score, p, so I used the simpler version to calculate which gives 2911 tpr. It would be close to 2900 with lookup from FIDE tables.
@bistrovogna
@bistrovogna 2 жыл бұрын
@@davidhale8034 You edited the post. But ok, you seemed to have a good laugh which is healthy. If Carlsen played this tournament's first 12 games with start rating of 2895 he would gain -1,1 ELO. With added hypothetical win vs Dubov he would be up 1,6 for a total of 2896,6 after tournament. 2900 will be incredibly hard to reach

Wrong. Yes it's his second loss in this tournament. But he could have also accepted the early draw offer from Anish, which would make this loss his only loss in this tournament. Also he was playing for a win with the black pieces, which is also a risky choice to make. Drawing against Caruana, Carlsen and Mamedyarov is everything but a bad result.
