The recap is great but doesn't talk about the clock. Hikaru played the whole endgame with 20-40 seconds on his clock. They only got a 10s increment per move. At several points I thought he wouldn't break through despite always retaining a winning advantage.

What are you talking about mate? He literally said that Hikaru was playing with something like 20" on the clock while prag had 4'. It's implied that he would go on like this, you can even see repeat of moves in order to win some time. I haven't watched the game live, but it's like self-explanatory. I get your point but give him some slack, he's like the only guy that keeps chess commentary where it deserves to be, not shouting, yelling doing weird stuff. Not trying to pick up a fight here, just wanted to point that out. Best of luck.

Hikaru is still super strong and still calculates very well. He had seen that Rf1 move several moves before that, certainly by the time he took the pawn with the knight but probably before that I reckon. After that it was good technique and no mistakes, even though Pragg did defend incredibly well. I kindof feel like Gukesh would have just defended solidly instead of trying the piece sacrifice and eked out a draw. He is such a well balanced player and defends as well as anyone.
