I am a vinyl nut. This album was decent. However, when this song came on I was overawed. A truly pathotic song. In a similar effect ABBA's 'Dancing Queen', (or if you haven't had the joy of hearing it) The Monkees 'Me and Magdalena'

*If I could only listen to four songs for the rest of my life this will always be one of them.*This is perfect for any day.As a mc that also writes poetry and rnb I recently have been trying to write music of this genre.I can honestly say I will never write something this heartfelt.It kills me that singers(Like Beyonce,Justin Bieber,and Chris Brown) that don't write get more attention than Justin Vernon.Bon Iver is in my top three greatest of all time!!MUSIC LIKE THIS SAVES LIVES!!!! It's no coincidence I just heard this last year 7 months exactly after my grandfather(Basically my father, he raised me with my grandmother and mother) died.Four days after my first Christmas without the only other best friend I've had since birth besides my grandmother.*If you never come back to do music I hope you find peace and have a blessed journey*...*for the peace you've given us*...*and the blessing you've been*. *EVERY WORD YOU HAVE SAID AND EVERY CHORD YOU HAVE PLAYED WILL OUTLIVE ALL THE SORROW AND REGRET OF THE WORLD!* *#TRUELOVENEVERDIES*

Why you got to bag out other singers tho? they all started from the bottom and got where they are through hard work, and sticking to a genre that gets attention. Indie music such as this is a genre listened to by a select few. So comparing this to pop music is dumb as the latter are obviously going to get more attention; hence the reason they call it pop/popular.
@757Automatic7 жыл бұрын
Bryan Sanchez it may seem dumb to you but the difference in genre doesn't justify the lack in quality content. at the end of the day I'm "bagging them out" as you say because they didn't write most of their material. As an artist that is the hardest part. And no where did I say they didn't work hard. I simply said the quality in certain groups and artist such as this is much better..but doesn't get appreciated half as much. Be blessed

Most of the time when I listen to a particular artist or song, like I do with Bon Iver (Re: Stacks, Holocene), over and over again it's because they make me feel good. I'm not sure Bon Iver fits that though. I mostly tear up and feel like a vulnerable bowl of jelly when I listen. I can't explain it, but I can't stop listening. Which I suppose is sort of what it's all about.

A lot of musicians will alter songs when they play live, but it's not because they can't play it the way they recorded it. It's mainly because they play it in a unique way especially for their audience at the time, almost like a special gift just for them. When you're so in the moment that you get lost in your music, you sing how you feel, not how other think you should. There's a version on here with a good ex of this. Re: Stacks BOA Pavilion 9.13.2012 Notice at the end the crowd's response.

This my excavation and to Day is Qumran Everything that happens is from now on This is pouring rain This is paralyzed I keep throwing it down, two Hundred at a time It's hard to find it when you knew it When your money's gone And you're drunk as hell On your back with your racks as he stacks your load In the back with the racks and he stacks your load In the back with the racks and you're unstacking your load I've been twisting to the sun I needed to replace And the fountain in the front yard is rusted out All my love was down In a frozen ground There's a black crow sitting across from me His wiry legs are crossed He's dangling my keys, he even fakes a toss Whatever could it be That has brought me to this loss? On your back with your racks as he stacks your load In the back with the racks and he stacks your load In the back with the racks and you're unstacking your load This is not the sound of a new man Or a crispy realization It's the sound of me unlocking and you lift away Your love will be Safe with me

ps : I agree, when I read it again, that my first respond to the guy who didn't like Bon Iver's performance was kind of hard, not really nice, and untrue. But with all the nowadays commercial music, I felt like a guardian of those rare artists like Bon Iver and It bothered me that someone criticized him without arguments, and without hearing the true talent of that singer. I wanted to explain that to him, and I clearly failed when I wrote my kinda angry answer. I admit my mistake

So you start with: "I was about to take time to argue..." and then proceed to argue a point. Have you always been a hypocrite? And "funny guy"? It's always an answer from someone under normalcy bias and learned helplessness. I wasn't being "funny"; I was making a simple, yet correct point. And it still stands. Knowing how to play music has nothing to do with understanding if a song is good or not.

I don't get it. His time is perfect, he drops a beat here and there but that's pretty obviously a creative choice. It's a musicality thing, just listen to old blues records.
