In match 4, the Leyline of Sanctity also doomed your opponent. Both Hunted Troll and Clackbridge Troll target an opponent to give them the tokens, so without a legal target you'll just have a big creature without giving them blockers.

Good point. For some reason I wasn't considering that Leyline also stops us from giving our opponent tokens. I guess the Torpor Orb didn't actually matter all that much.

I play Illness in the Ranks/Forbidden Orchard, and Splinter Twin combo is an absolute joke. They create infinite 0-powered Deceiver Exarch tokens and concede. You played two Plague Engineers and somehow still lost. I'm so sorry Seth, I'm going to have to dislike this video.

The point of playing Plague Engineer is so that it can be used to sac to Eldrich Evolution, whereas Illness can't. The tokens are there to be killed by Massacre Wurm.

For those control matchups, a 1 or two of “Thought Distortion” in a deck that plays lots of lands or ramps and is black might be good now that it’s super popular again. I’ve been having massive success against control post sideboard because they expect to be able to play slowly and control the board, and if the game is going “land. Go” for 8 turns while they wait for the first move, if you draw distortion and crack it off it ALWAYS takes them by surprise.

I feel like this deck really wants Once Upon a Time. Finds a land or Arbor Eld in the early game, mitigates flooding in the late game. Helps dig for Trolls or Wurms or Blood Artists to complete the combo. Especially since 52/60 maindeck cards are lands or creatures.

Massacre Wurm seems too expensive as a 4 of. Maybe 2-3 copies to draw or tutor into, but the odds of drawing them too early with 4 is too high

That enduring ideal deck grab g1 was a rookie mistake for sure, shows the power of grabbing Overwhelming Splendor. If you don’t run at least one in your ideal deck these days you are absolutely doing it wrong - Form + Splendor + Dovescape is the only lock you will ever need (plus a hall of Heliods generosity for backup natural mill)

I feel like Massacre Wurm is just winmore. Illness in the Ranks would be easier to cast and harder to disrupt, while you beat down with fat trolls. Also disrupts the Pestermite combo if I'm not mistaken.

Should have gone with Illness in The Ranks! Not sure I would go Golgari tho', Hunted Phantasm is also amazing in these kinds of "Population Control" decks. It's unblockable and cheaper by one mana. Blue also gives you Swan Song, a supremely cheap counterspell that's gives your opponents a token. Red gives Rampaging Ferocidon for additional damage when tokens enter the opponents battlefield and White gives you Suture Priest and Mercy Killing(Which you could use with green but it seems that green takes a lot of space with ramping).
