Rockhounding Adventure Prineville Oregon Roadside Finds is an X marks the spot on where to go and how to ID some amazing rockhound finds it's along hwy 380 & hwy 26 in Prineville Oregon these areas are Packed with rocks, agates, feldspar, petrified wood!
We took a rockhounding adventure vacation! This is our last stop on our rockhounding vacation and did we score on some cool rocks, agates and petrified wood? You bet!
Our journey started out in Oregon, we went to Idaho, then onto Montana. It didn't stop there. On our way back, we met with Randy Robin, a fellow rockhound & subscriber, who showed us an amazing rock collecting area called Graveyard Point in Idaho & Oregon. This area is managed by Bureau of Land Management. This area holds some fantastic examples of biogeo genesis, where bacteria used rocks to protect themselves from the harsh environment around them. These examples are called Graveyard Plume Agates. Follow along with us as we show where you can collect some of these beauties for your own!

The last time we were in Prineville area we found a lot of thunderegg nodules and jasper nuggets. We also found a lot of coprolites there. I guess a nice place for dinosaurs to go. No pun intended. There is a little bit of everything scattered about. Loved that last agate. Thanks for sharing your fun trip and showing us your finds. Be happy, safe and stay healthy. And if you step in some coprolite, wiper your feet and then bring it with you. Even the smell is fossilized until you start grinding. 🤢

😆... managed to avoid the coprolite piles...lol well not that we're admitting without evidence 🙄 lol 😆 😜 The fascinating thing about the area that we learned was that just about any kind of rock you want to hunt is somewhere around Prineville. Wished we we'd had a week just there on our adventure but alas not possible on our schedule 😪 Thanks for the funny!

Hi and thanks so much, we literally get a dozen offers a week to look folks up when we're in their area and that spans the entire US of A. So it gets to be quite a challenge keeping track of them all. So sorry we didn't hook up, we simply didn't remember 😔. As far as the finds, they we're not "all" rhyolite but there was a bunch down there. Be well and healthy and hopefully one of these days we can hook up.
