Agatha All Along Episode 8 Season 1 review for Disney+, where we finally find out the villains were the villains all along. I'm still not sure why I should be hoping for these people to succeed, or why they even do. The coven eventually ends up just turning on itself, despite trying to help each other succeed. While they get upset that the people they tried to kill 10 minutes earlier don't make it. Coincidence, nonsense and lots of talk about feelings are in store. But the chance that they will actually not make it to the end of the series is the hope I've been hanging onto. Strangely, they end up similar to Velma by the end, which is a reference I never expected to need to make. But this show turns an after credit scene into a whole episode next time and has to make the villains sympathetic. That'll be fun! But what did you think of what you saw? General audience reaction is positive, critics and YT reviewers say it’s one of the best Marvel has come up with, viewership started slow but picked up half way through and this only cost 40 million so they’ll make a profit. I don’t know if you were watching it with your eyes closed or you just can’t accept that this show just doesn’t appeal to you specifically, but I and everyone else enjoyed it and you can’t change that

I think it's time you consider some sort of award show at the end of the year as a cathartic release from all the suffering. We need something to replace the Oscars: Best Lesbian Haircut, Most Deserved Cancellation, Best Cringe etc. Oh, and if you're up for a new challenge there's a show called Curfew on Paramount+. The trailer popped up randomly in my feed and, well, it looks...special. So special there are cryptically no critic ratings in spite of articles chomping at the bit in praise of the premise. I've seen no coverage at all on a glance. Not that I enjoy seeing you suffer 🤭

Oh come on!.... I figured out the "twist" by ep2 when Agatha first told Teen that the road "suited" him.! Speaking of Teen Marvel gave away who he was before the show even started. In an ad they named him Billy in the bloody subtitles and as for Rio I recognised the knife she had in her first scean as Deaths knife from the comic books. Plus she kept disappearing every time someone died. It felt like this show was a mystery for toddlers!!!

About the LGBT representation they keep talking about, I'm gay and, honestly, it doesn't really matter as much as they think. Storywise, a character being gay, bi or whatever doesn't impact the story in any meaningful way as it will only change the other characters they date. So it's not a big deal when it's not present and, even when it is, it's also not a so big thing that you should go on bragging about it this much. Personally, I think this is the reason why things aimed at gay people fall so flat, as showrunners think it's the only thing that matters and often bring stereotypical and/or characters without any personality trait. If you actually want to write a good story with LGBT characters, you should be aiming at creating good characters that happens to be LGBT, rather than trying to making it the main point of the character.

The thing is even if you really want that representation, there are entire genres dedicated to that type of content. For Japan it's Yuri and Yaoi. For the west, erotic novels occasionally have LGBT+ characters (Although it has a huge woman audience so it mostly focuses on generic relationships). The problem is that it will always be a niche market, not because people are bigoted but a lot of people just don't want romance or erotic content as a focus point. They want action, adventure, cool character moments, funny moments and so on. They want more content, than hey this character wants to bonk X. Even if we focus on a broader sense, many stories have characters whose romantic interests vary. This is hardly new, FFS the Greeks and Romans wrote stories with their heroes taking on male lovers. Hercules is still a hugely popular figure to this day, does anyone care about his male lovers? Does anyone ever really mention them? Hercules is best known for his labours, sorrows, redemption and tragic end. It's an amazingly well written tale that teaches people something. If a Hercules like figure would be attempted by these writers, the labours and the important moral parts of his story would be in the background. It would be an awful story focused on oh look how progressive we are and it just wouldn't say anything. Imagine a 2000 year old civilisation having better representation.

Kathryn Hahn is a pretty good comedic actress (she was great in Parks and Recreation). Sadly she jumped on the MCU train as it was coming off the rails and crashing and burning. Ditto for Aubrey Plaza.

I thought about that too. But half the universe was wiped out of existence, not killed, and no one blipped has mentioned either her or the afterlife. So I imagine she would rather annoyed, because she couldn't do her job with the blipped and it probably upset the balance.

Honestly, Thanos' comic book motivation of wanting to impress Death because he had the hots for her actually makes MORE sense than what he did in the MCU. Thanos killing half the universe because he wants to bone Death? Sure. Thanos killing half the universe because he's REALLY SUPER DUPER SMART YOU GUYS but doesn't understand basic population dynamics? Lame. A movie character can only be as smart as the person writing him, and Hollywood writers aren't Super Duper Smart Science Mans. Death worshippers? Yes. They know that and should stick to it.

@@MonsterKidCoryI personally think movie Thanos had a different motivation due to what Infinity War revealed: we see his home world, where nobody survived. His entire species died, only he survived. That must be a lot of pain, no wonder his „ultimate solution“ is to cause an unimaginable amount of pain for everyone else in the universe. He is basically lashing out at the universe for his pain, while trying to keep a mask of „I‘m the good guy here“ on. It matches also how he only caused pain to his daughters despite claiming that he loves them. He is wrapping himself in lies so he can do the most heinous crime imaginable, murdering half a universe to soothe his ego.

The ending is based. Moral is that sisterhood is a lie, all these witches are just out here to get their own. It reminds be of that joke about traveling kegels. Show turned at the fanbase and told them all there manifesting and witchnesss was just the same thing with new paint and they are as ripe for exploitation as the kegel people.

it would be one thing if he left after everyone else had died, exactly as he was before going in, then the stupid "it was just in my imaaaaaginaaaaaation" scene happened because he couldnt know if it was real or imaginary. but he didnt, he gained MAGIC before leaving, just do some magic, if it works it was real, if it doesnt it was all imaginary. i mean i get why its so confusing for them, they are the same people who think wearing a dress makes you a woman and sewing arm or butt fat to your clit makes you a man, so they clearly dont understand the difference between reality and imagination. but to treat what everyone normally understands as some kind of mystifying puzzle just makes it so much stupider.

Spoilers: seems like most people here have decided they were not going to watch it anyway. I liked it, I was legit surprised, this show is better than half of the Marvel shows that have come out. There were a few things I could gripe about. The lack of Jens story in particular but everything else was written well. Agatha is a villain! She is consistently a villian through and through. They didnt try to change that. I think her being a ghost is the best thing that could have happened for all witches, because that was basically slaughter, and she had her son in on it too! Aubrey plaza cast as Lady Death is just perfect casting along with Joe Locke as Wiccan. Lilia called it all in the second episode its nothing but a power grab, and Agatha herself let us all know from the very beginning all the information was all there from the very beginning. Kathryn Hahns acting made so much more sense, how she played Agatha, she feed them top notch bullshit. Knowing good and fucking well she was going to kill them the whole time! I was legit stunned. 😅 I thought it was about witches coming together with the power of connection they would defeat the bad guy. I knew it was going to be like the wizard of oz, so I expected everyone to live, but the road wasn't real and there was no danger to them but Agatha, if it seemed like there deaths were pointless, thats because there is no point to death aside from it happens. The character that least , deserved death was Sharon and Agatha died not even remebering her name to the very last episode!😂 No it wasn't perfect , but I liked it enought to rewatch it. It felt like a different show the second time around. I give it an 8 out of 10.

it's just plots in every episode and no story at all. the only character i felt sorry for was that Agathas neighbour and my feeling for her was smaller than a waterbear.
