I literally watched the Japanese anime of Naruto when Shippuuden was first airing on KZbin (actual 2007). “Old” KZbin implies the ever so flavorful bunch of ShayCarl, Shane Dawson, Kassem G, Fred, LisaNova, iJustine, or DaveDays. The 2010s KZbin was dominated by fake niceties with likes of Troye Sivan, Marcus Butler, Zoella, the Brits who pretended to be wholesome. Very different eras.

@@shannonceleste5557 online culture at the time was generally exuberant like that. mainstream media had a pretty angry and wounded undertone for years after 2001, and online, memes and content felt like the opposite of that - reflecting that back with mockery and playfulness. there was also a notable lack of professional presence online. there were no corporate accounts. there were very few content creators making significant income online. content was low budget and typically made by college-aged users. so of course overt silliness like charlie and the candy cave or yu-gi-oh abridged feels like content for young teenagers. we _were_ young teenagers. i think you can't judge it from the perspective of somebody who's good and grown or who's coming across it in the 20's because grown people in the 20's aren't who it was made for.

Hugs to Nick, wonderful content. One item, it's 2024 with religious cults still grifting in the US who believe as soon as a girl begins menstruating she's a sexual object for any male regardless of his age. We had politicians in the south who talk about a 12-year-old girl's fertility in their state House floor speeches, and states refusing to pass marriage age restrictions. So while the states post 16 or 18 years as the legal limit, there are exclusions such as a judge's ruling to allow a 12-year-old girl to marry a 42-year-old man (pervert). Not much has changed since colonial times.

As a mom of two young teen girls, and a 6mth baby boy, I have to say... I fully support Nick's message and stand here. It is absolutely disgusting for anyone in a position of power reguardless if that's age, work place, money, whatever to exert that power. Especially a grown ass adult to a literal child. I went through this as a teen and thought it was okay. I just found out a similar situation happened with my youngest teen and I called the cops. I didn't want to, she didn't want me to. It snow balled a horrible chain of events, took therapy, and a lot of hard work for my family to get through it. Prayers to any family or person who has had to experience this, especially as a parent of a child. It's one of the hardest things feeling helpless bc you can't go back in time or hurt that person that hurt your child. My daughter still is processing what happened and doesn't view herself as a victim, which is fine. She was 13 and an 18 year old out of h.s. tool advantage of her. I had to report it. I had to make known that is not right, it's not okay.

As someone who has gone through a similar experience to your daughter but is now a grown adult, Thank you for calling out this behaviour and looking out for your children. I didn’t think I was a victim after it happened (and for many years after that) but I now realize the disgusting truth. I don’t know your daughter but I believe she will feel the same when she gets older and like me, be thankful for our parents looking out for us. ❤ Much love to you and your family

it's really validating to see so many people (both my friends and youtubers, etc) talk about how horrible the last few weeks have been emotionally. like oh right it's august again time to throw my life into the dirt and crawl around for a little while

To be fair, I don’t see the Paul brothers as conventionally attractive at all. They are not cute lol. I truly despise Jake Paul as well. Ugh.

I’m so sad when I heard about this, but for some reason, not all that surprised that he turned out like this. I am pretty mad that they haven’t said shit about it or even made an attempt at an apology. I don’t think Noel has even said anything either? It’s so disappointing. :(

I was groomed and preyed on as a sixteen year old by my forty-five year old singing teacher...and surprise, he was violent in our "relationship." I have PTSD that will never leave me, I am forty-one now and still have nightmares about him multiple times a week. It's not a small thing for adults to prey on children it's life ruining, and any media normalizing it truly disgusts me.

When Cody posted a video condemning a King Bach's video with SA implied "comedy", I thought he was such a class act to call out a very well-liked influencer. I even posted on Facebook how I'm proud to watch this guy's content every week. After a decade of watching his videos on KZbin, the disappointment and ickiness I felt when the Tana stuff blew up was honestly devastating. I am confident Nick will never let us down like this or otherwise. An actual classy lassy. Very demure, very mindful. Super cutesy.
