I learnt absolutely nothing about "warning signs, risk factors, and prevention", what the video title promised, from watching this 16 minute video. The video description suggests I could "watch the full episode" which is 140 minutes. I will NOT waste even more of my life by doing that!

I would love to see a bell curve describing cognitive decline against age, stratified by risk factors. What do we know that we know about memory? Not much. How can people make a living talking about something we know so little about? I guess they know more than me. At least I hope so.

The "entertaining" feature is that NOT ONE OF US has not been exposed to a unique blend of physical and emotional stressors, nutritional supports/damage, educational and occupational opportunities, and environmental factors. Try not to smack your head around, sleep badly for years, or develop the need for a raft of drugs. You will place yourself on the fast track for severe cognitive decline.
@robynhope2192 ай бұрын
The most important thing for longevity is a good, solid start in life: loving parents, a welcoming environment, etc...this is rarely mentioned. People with a high ACE score are unlikely to come close to 100, no matter diet, exercise, and sleep. Longevity is mainly good fortune.

Listen to podcasts by Dr. Dale Bredesen or buy his books describing his work and treatment of cognitive decline . It's different for everyone, memory loss can be due to insulin resistance, chronic low grade inflammation, toxins such as heavy metals , head trauma, lower blood flow to head or a combo of more than one of these factors.

Im 55, i do calisthenics - muscleups etc, my skin is young, i lived in 7 countries etc....basicaly live like 20 yo and push my mind and body to work. My phylosophy and "trick" is. - Im not body. Im free. If i wana be young than i must be in spirit and mindset of young. Body will follow. If I physicaly decay, than quickly realise I am identified with body and must disconect. (Example. If i feel leg pain due weakness I disconect from that pain, straighten up and go like no pain. And pain is gone.) My mindset is like i will live till 250 (why not desire less than 1/3 of 960 Metasulams years :) ). Everything less alive, everything closer to death i more dry, less wattered. Stone is dryer than wood. Wood is dryer than body. Watch how old people are dry. (I mean dry body and dry/non liquide spirit). Watter i in muscles. Keep muscle and body will be young. Be flexible mentaly and you will be young. 35 years ago i was cycling 20-25k km/y. 5 years ago i was running 500km/month. I was able to run 10km by speed 3:30/km. Now i still push my heart beat to 190 in some days in sprints. Btw...last years i messed up financialy so i have to pro my point and strart all over again. :) All the best for everybody!

But basically I agree. I accept some deterioration in myself and try not to go bonkers about it. But I also try to test ways to slow or prevent harmful things. Like I have prevented myself from progressing to full blown chronically high blood sugars, which I would have for sure had if I didn't drill down on ways to mitigate my prediabetic blood sugar at 44. Most people are laid back and don't even know they need to know their A1c. I'm now 59. Both parents were diabetic. I have never had a prediabetic A1c again. That comes from learning from people like Peter who know more than me.

@@resistapathy it’s all moderation, 20% effort will give like 80% of the benefits. You don’t have to be someone like Bryan Johnson spending a few hundred thousand a month and spending hours a day to maintain your health, but basic things to maintain your health is easy, improves quality of life like crazy, and will boost your health & lifespan by a ton. Taking drugs like metformin, glyNAC, etc. which have some speculative benefits and aren’t super researched aren’t probably bad, but are probably not that helpful except on the very tight margins. Exercise will be 100x better than any of those.
