New Balance Fuel Cell was super critical Eva for the longest time but now they jumped on the peba bandwagon. Most brands feel the need to have peba due to the perception in the consumers mind that it's superior. I'd argue not everyone does well with peba based foams, especially at lower hobby jogging paces of around 8 to 10 minute/ mile pace. Just an opinion though, nothing scientific.

I don't know if it's because Shunsuke isn't a native English speaker, but he is a much more interesting guest than most other representatives of running shoe brands. He speaks much more directly and doesn't use marketing jargon. The Wave Rebellion Pro is one of my favorite shoes, and I plan to buy the Neo Vista as soon as it comes out in 2 weeks. Great interview!

The foam is being a version of EVA and the discussion on geometries were the most interesting part. Yesterday I ran in a demo pair in a Mizuno launch event here in Austin area and I was surprised by the feeling softness of the foam. It could be even too soft for some people. I think the deep center groove helps with that sensation. The plate is essential part of making the shoe a bit responsive and stabler (along with wide landing platform) The closest feeling of softness is EVA midsole of Atreyu Artist and Fuelcell foam in NB RC Elite v2. I did enjoy my run from recovery to easy and into tempo run paces for me.

These new Mizunos have been awesome ❤. I'm coming from being a sprinter and football player so I'm a midfoot striker. I also like hiking. As I've gotten into longer running the Wave Rebellion Flash's have definitely helped along the way. Looking forward to adding the Neo Vista and the Rebellion Pro's

Excellent podcast. I really enjoyed listening to the Mizuno reps and the information provided was very interesting. As someone who is enjoying the current Wave Rebellion series I'm looking forward to their new shoes even more so. The explanation regarding the angle made total sense to me because I got along with the Rebellion Pro but found the Rebellion Pro 2 too aggressive for me as the angle is so much steeper! Awesome podcast. Ive been a long time user of Mizuno, including the Wave Rider series, Ronin, the Ekiden... the only places that carried these shoes were hole in the wall type sports stores. Now with the Rebellion pro, the foams and the new geometries, I definitely can see how Mizuno has changed the experience of running to another level. I hope to run my first "proper" marathon in a Mizuno supershoe. Which one, the next few months will tell but I have one in my cabinet already that is chosen for the occasion - the Wave Rebellion Pro 2.

I listened to the podcast 2 times. For me angles of attack is the most interesting. Actually ordered an additional (my second) Wave Rebellion Pro V1 because I understand that because of the 6° in your V1 it is better for me than the 11° of the V2. Will definitely get the Neo Vista when it comes to Europe.

Being old and slow runner but also heel striker the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1 saves my lower calf and Achilles tendon. No more heel striker because there is no heel 😂

Maybe they are not for you? I was so surprised they were great for me from the start and even at jogging pace but I avoid ANY roads with serious camber or potholes.. It's just a very high shoe. It does very well on grave if it is with small stones.

That push out sensation he was speakinh about from the mid and forefoot is one of the reasons why i love the Hola Mach X's. I just bought the Neo Vista's & am waiting for them to ship but i didn't know about the Flash 2's or the Pro 2's! I think i might need to give the Flash 2's a chance!

Great Content, I'm from Thailand. Nice comeback with Mizuno brand. It's very interesting when you release Rebellion pro. I have the problem overpronation so I cannot use the rebellion pro. But I already bought Neo vista yesterday, Hope I can enjoy using without injury :)

Exited ½ way through . Not because it was uninteresting, but rather Matt and Andrea had engaged with only one of the three guests by that point. I realize you are both smitten by the shoe geometry and foam. However, as hosts being more inclusive as soon as possible gives a more professional look .

I would disagree: it looks like guests decided who would speak and who would not. Maybe a cultural thing for Japan that the managers took over and anyone else would defer to him. I noticed that Andrea and Matt did not address the guests by name. The manager just took it on himself to answer the questions. The woman only spoke up when the manager asked her to comment/answer. Of, I'm not saying it's right or wrong: it's just in tge culture.

One of the ways to keep manufacturing costs down by using EVA instead of the newer foams. So thr cost stays lower on the Neo Vista $180. EVA tends to be more resilient and hopefully will last longer. The foams from Super shoe racers being used in trainers ends up having racer type lifespans rather than trainer life spans.
