Michael Levin’s work is definitely outside the box when it comes to aging (and regenerative medicine in general). He would be a great guest to interview.

How we got where we are with healthcare is unregulated capitalism. For profit healthcare pretty clearly led us to this.

It's bad enough when they don't increase the budget, it's disgraceful when they cut major studies like the dog aging project halfway completed

I have said this for over 10 years. I also have had many ideas on how to implement this, specifically making use of the increased use of ML/AI. This is CLEARLY the way things should work.

The way to get DC interested is to convince them that advanced age super soldiers are the future of the American military. Recruiting is way down. Kids aren't interested. The senior Walmart greeter. Now that's where it's at...

Matt, I'm afraid there's far too much money tied to drugs for managing disease states. There's little to no incentive for medicine for prevention. Until we can change the politics of this skewed dynamics there will be little to no change. Btw, I've worked in health care management for over 30 years, and have worked with 3 different administrations, and the closest we came to rolling out a prevention based initiative was almost 20 years ago.

It's all about milking sick people for profit.

Prevention in our backwards system means statins and blood pressure medications. A monkey could prescribe them. The FDA should be depopulated.

We came close?! 20 years ago?! I doubt it, really...😢

I should elucidate: under the leadership of the then HHS secretary Tommy Thompson there was an initiative to involve all participating health plans to offer preventative services under a new reimbursement platform. Needless to say it was never implemented due to political pressure. I was there in Washington at that time.

Stop going to great lengths and expense to treat the chronic, self-inflicted diseases, and people will quickly be motivated to change their lifestyles.
@ScottSummerill3 ай бұрын
Agree BUT, it seems cheaper to wait and see who gets sick, then treat. Plus, there is tremendous pushback in telling people how they should live. Look at all the negative commentary on something as simple as a soda tax. There is an epidemic of obese kids but don’t tell a parent they have pay more for soda. It is a sickness that follows capitalism.

We got here because of Obama care. Capitalism works if the government doesn’t get involved

A frustrating video. Nothing new about the problem of the healthcare industry, and no solutions offered on how to fix it. Lots of rehashed ideas that won’t magically happen.
