Agnipath Scheme Explained | Why are Students protesting?

You missed out some critical points in the video which are really important for evaluation of the scheme: 1. The training period for candidates recruited in this scheme is jut 6 months. Which is not even close enough to make a former civilian capable enough to fight against highly trained forces such as those of other countries (China for example). 2. Even though the candidate will learn discipline, besides combat, he will not have learned any other practical skill during his service of 4 years. This means, that a big portion of such candidates will only be eligible for jobs such as those of gatekeepers, bodyguards, bouncers etc. What value do you think these candidates will hold when the military will provide a huge supply every year with relatively less demand. 3. Indian military is pretty formidable currently. And experienced soldiers are to be thanked for that. The remaining 75% hired from the scheme will have less experience with only 6 months' training. 4. If the government's objective is reduce pension expenditure, that can be reduced from the pension drawn by ministers who draw multiple pensions. The government should not devise plans to snatch pensions from soldiers who put their lives on the line every day. Brother, I agreed on your points we should stop giving pensions to the Politicians but the total expenditure per year in pensions for politician is just about 85 Crore (2020) . This amount is not enough for the modernization of our Army which currently need a last investment on logistics, weapons, infrastructure development on borders. At current Scieneo of our country that need a well equipped army. And In upcoming times, the the number army persons doesn't matters it depends upon the Modern warheads. We should must completely focus on the modernization of our Army. I know this Scheme may hurts many yougs peoples but we should think not only for ourselves. Sometimes for our Nation. I think at personal level this scheme is not good But for our Nation it is good for modernization. Before this schemes, The non-commissioned Army personnel also get 6 months training. If we look the per annum Expenditure on Army, From this about 75 % moves towards the Salary and the pensions. In this schemes, the retaiired army personnel get 11.5 lakh of Package that is enough for starting the New start-up Business that ultimately boost our Economy. We required more and more investment on our Army. so, we should stop giving pensions to politician and also look other subjects to cut-off and add in army expenditure. 😊❤️💖 Must feel free for the response. I couldn’t agree more to this! In the place where I live we have retired military men serving as security guards which feels bad and unfair. They should be provided with further opportunities and reasonable pensions. I don’t know how the scheme will be practically

Secondly, If they are retired within four years of service then how could they collect money for new start ups atleast the government should increase the years of service from 4 to 8 so that they can collect their money.

As an NDA ASPIRANT If I talk about it at a National level this is somewhere right but the govt should make sure that after completing their service period in the armed forces there should be a guarantee that they will not be left unemployed. They should reserve a quota or should give preference to the AGNIVEERS in CAPF or Other services. If Police will give them preference to the Agniveers that will be a plus point as they will be already trained and ready to start serving to their jobs. But still I am not fully convinced by the government as it is something that is being implemented without Testing also at such a large level. Only hoping that this scheme SUCCEDS and the unemployment rate will not increase at an alarming rate.

11 lakh mil rha hai na, you can get enrolled in any college for bachelor's degree with this much fees, if family conditions are a little hard, a part time job will be sufficient to meet the financial needs..... many private sector companies are saying that they'll give preference to agniveers for jobs.... so like technically Agniveers are at a position of profit from my perspective. I think if central government make it mandatory for the state government police force departments to engage the rest of 75% agniveer in their respective state, then it will be a good initiative for the candidates as well as the respective state police strength after all nobody can deny the fact that the training they have got from military is far more better than state police training.

You need to intern in a government department or talk with an IAS working there to know the actual process. A very underrated yet important point is that if jawans are only going to be serving for 4 years, they will be lacking a sense of belongingness towards the job. It will become a mere project for them and that is one of the biggest factors which affects the performance. This is something that even the corporate is trying to tap using different tactics like providing equity to employees so that they give their 100% and feel passionately about their work and here the work is way more critical where “jazba” makes a great difference. So even if I consider this via national angle, Isn’t this something that government should consider ?

Problem with the agniveers 1) Why only the pension of the government employees are focused and not on the unnecessary expenses on politicians 2) The 75%{more} will get the jobs in the other sectors (doubtful) as they have not completed their studies 3) As the unemployment level are high they(75%) will have to compete in order to get jobs as they already uses 4 year in the service

Let me inform you am a serving soldier in army so that my opinion be considered as practical. Every year more than a lakh servicemen retire and hardly 5% of them gets civil jobs rest are unemployed despite having so called skills and disciplined even after they have served for 15 to 20 years. Most of them end up in security guard jobs in private sector for 15 to 20000 Rs unfortunately. Then imagine the skills they acquire in just four years. Now I heard additional 10% quota in Central government jobs to agniveers despite current 10% quota to exservicemen. If it is true, then true talented aspirants from general category won't get jobs otherwise would have got. Isn't it injustice to them. Overall quota exceeds 50% in central govt jobs now... Providing quota is truly a bad idea. Even after 10% additional quota a lot of them eill be unemployed unfortunately at their 20s itself. Over 90,000 ex servicemen are jobless in post retirement. Agniveer scheme is not a necessary scheme that our country needs its just to cut pensions and use the amount for modernization. Intention may be good but it comes at a cost of unbearable burden of those talented pool.

Though there are several different perspectives, there are a lot of countries that have this kind of temporary service in the armed forces and there are countries which made it mandatory requirement for all graduates. With 4 years in NCC I learned a lot that I couldn’t learn from my school or college so Agneepath helps on personality development aspect. If someone looks at it from an employment perspective, firstly it’s not a mandatory service and it’s only 50,000 candidates per year. Probably, Armed forces should not retain anyone after 4 years but provide them with fast track options into CDSE, Paramilitary and Police forces, and should provide age relaxation for entry. A 21 year old would not be at a disadvantage in the Job market as most Indian youth joins workforce at this age. Coming to national interest, Armed forces know what’s best for the national security, probably they should let India know what their needs are. Do soldiers reach their prime in training in 2 years or 4 years, it’s a professional question that Armed forces should answer not civilians. I will offer another national security perspective, over the years more Agneeveers will be inside India and Common people feel more secure on the streets. We will have a huge pool of reserve forces. Would it reduce the chances for people who are looking for long term careers in the Indian Armed forces, to some extent yes but for Armed forces Nation first than self. It’s not an easy question to answer. Alternatively, are we okay with increasing defense budgets and pay little more taxes to support national security, that sounds like a better solution. Ignore the politics though, they have a job to do, politics.

Mam i think you missed 2 points ‼️ The youth are also protesting for other reasons. 1) in airforce there is a entry called airmen (non officer) category. In this case iaf has taken written examination in 12-18 July 2020. The result of this exam has not published yet. 2) before this vacancy another final result is pending till now. Final result means these candidates have qualified written exam after that they qualified iaf phase 2 (physical and group discussion) and after that they passed medical examination too. It takes 1-2 years to be completed one vacancy. this last result is the final step towards carrer in Indian airforce. Exam date nov 2019

I would like to get your attention that these protests are happening because students were waiting for pending recruitments to happen and suddenly the recruitments were cancelled and a new scheme was implemented. I would also like to tell you that these protests will not stop until the government declares that pending recruitments will be completed. And about me I am one of the Indian Air Force enrolment candidates whose Exam, Physical, medical test, Provisional list are completed and we were waiting for our call letters and the joining was cancelled because of the new scheme. I am attesting a document and I urge you to read it so that you can understand my and my fellow candidates' situation.

Every company avoid giving job to distance education degree. My working wife also did a AI/ML course via online courses to change domain of work. She got a degree from Texas A&M and passed in top 5 in class. Still she did not get a job in AI/ML now. She is still stuck in old job which she knows has no future.

I thought of a middle ground solution : gov should continue the existing mode of recruitment and bring in agnipath as a supplementary mode. Gradually, (year by year) the share of agniveers in the total recruitment should be increased progressively. This will provide choice to the aspirants as well as remove the misconceptions of the scheme.

if you want a comparison of pensions, around 85 crores are spent on pensions of mla and mp, on the other hand military pensions make up more than 2 lakh crores, nearly half of the entire defense budget, i don't like mla getting free pension but that money is peanuts compared to military pension

My first thought and concern when I heard about this scene was it could be used as training ground by terrorists. Think about it they get training and inside knowledge of our army and at the end of it they can getaway after 4 years, so yes I was/am worried. Isn't this a big problem? I honestly hope to God, GOI takes some precautions to prevent that from happening.

If we speak about individual angel it's alright as individuals are getting good amount of salary and a package of 11.4 Lakh is a good amount to start a new business or startup to earn their livelihood . Well they the scheme was discussed with the army & then it was implemented. All major chief of Indian Army have backed the initiative. I don't think that this decision was taken in a hurry or there was some kind of laziness in the making the scheme. Army aspirants cleared physicals(damn tough) cleared medical and only their written was remaining, govt kept delaying it saying it will be taken later, we can't conduct exam now because of COVID ( and this was happening in 2022&2021, when there was no COVID) airforce aspirants cleared written exams, physical and medicals a last list which tells who will get call letter was to be published, but govt kept delaying it because of "COVID". Now all of us were thinking govt. Process will resume once the COVID is over. But now govt. Suddenly said all those exams and physical medicals are invalid now. You will have to reappear. Just think how we felt by getting cheated by very country we aspire to serve. Aspirants lost many attempts in this whole process. For me I lost all. Govt. did gave us one more chance by increasing age this time but think and take it on you. If you are an upsc aspirant you get 6 attempts, now due to some reforms & administrative reason all your attempts are lost. But hey govt. Comes out and say look we will give you 1 more attempt, now happy??? That's now how this works.. Govt. Gave 2 year relaxation for this year but what about those who's not 21? And ofcourse other points which she mentioned are there because a man who serves and risks his life for nation deserves a financial stability not for him but for his family. We will take care of our borders, we won't even flinch if situation demands our life, but in return you gotta take care of our families back home.

@@manseeverma9284 my second point I am from a small village in rajasthan with 9 houses. me and my friends started preparing for army after we passed 10th. I was 14 back then, It's been more then 7 years since we started preparation, for us we excepted army as our life. But years of these preparations, running like a damn dog all for what? 4 years of service? That's the reason behind anger. Its because our dreams are shattered. We came so close to our dreams by clearing exams and physicals but now .... If government had given some time... Like this scheme will be implemented after 2 years then it would have been fine and I am 100% sure no such protest would have taken place. Because then boys would have already made up. Their mind and would have invested their time accordingly. But for us who dreamt for it.. it's damn tough. Like imagine preparing for it for 7 years and living it for 4 years. Now if govt just announced that this scheme will be implemented after 2-3 years then new boys won't invest the amount of time like we did, and there won't be any anger. That's why I believe policy itself may have some good points(still needs much "sudhar") but it would have been better if govt. Just announced it to be implemented later. Or if it left as an option, like if you want you can join for 4 years by TOD. As it is done for officers in defence.

I donot think so. In this scheme only six month training is being provided. Candidates will be only 10 th or 12th pass. After six months of training they will be required to work as soldiers or as messengers and there will not be any increase in intellect or skills. Instead students should focus on completing formal education which is 10+2+3 or 10+2+4. And thereafter search for jobs.

I think a combination of below points would make it more beneficial - Remuneration proposed for the agniveers should be increased at least by 50% else the seva nidhi package should be completely borne by the government. - Inducted Agniveers should not be made a part of fighting units like Infantry, instead in technical and other support units only like Signals, Engineers Core, Army Medical Core and Army Supply Core of Army. - Agniveers can be given quotas and financial assistance for their further studies. - they should be made eligible for all the government exams that requires a graduate degree

Let me be practical... Looking at the exponential growth of population and unemployment rate, youth who are not even eligible to apply in this scheme right now, for them it can be a great source of short financial aid. Just imagine the quantum of population and unemployment problem for coming generation. Who will provide them job? Whether it is nationality or individual point of view, practically it is benefiting individuals as well as nation at large. I am 37 now with MBA post graduation struggling to earn means of livelihood in the corporate world. Agniveers are paid handsome salary with reasonable amenities like food, insurance, medical facility etc. I feel sad about myself for not eligible to apply in this scheme.. At the age of 21 student can obtain a basic degree in any stream. There is always a chance to study once they come back from service. They will be just 25 years old. Including me whoever gives excuses for not able to pursue further studies is a lame excuse. It is just that person is lazy. There is no limit for enthusiasts.

Yup agree. I have just completed my BBA and went for some job interviews, the most they were offering is 2.5 - 3 LPA. I do have an idea from past previous years defence spending lots of money in making up there own network (optical network) and communication. This should have been given to bsnl and bsnl should recruit these Agniveers, train them technically and depute them with military. The Military catering services can be outsourced where only Agniveers will be recruited or tender alloted to agniveer only. Indirectly Agniveers should have been awarded permenant comission directly or indirectly like I explained in my example. Thus leads to more job security. Though pension is still be a price cut. I think it's a win win situation for govt. And for military as well. Same happened with airforce. Hal recruited persons will make it more tech savy and strengthen more. This what I think. I'll always be with the student whatever be there thought and stand. Please all can also comment here and give there ideas how can we utilize those 75 percent Agniveers which are jobless after 4 years. Jai hind. Lets take a step towards better india. A main point is that in our country protests are normal and when the youth is not trained they are doing violent protests, then when they will get trained and have no jobs after agniveer program then what they are capable of doing, think about it.

I think one major reason for protest is also that no effective army training of agniveers can be achieved in such short span of time. Serving at border needs special military training which takes time. So inefficient training will definately leads to the loss of lives.

The scheme is design by 3 army chiefs...something had been thought and implemented... Here we civilians are deciding training can't be done? Will army chief give us all the details where the deployment will be done...how will they be used ?

In many state police priority will be given to agniveers 10% reservation to agniveers in PSU 10% reservation in Assam rifles Entrepreneurship support after 4 years The only problem here is what about army aspirants of age above 23 currently who were preparing for the exam?

I think this scheme is more benefit toward low income class. They will get training, salary and one time lumb sum to kick start their life ahead. You also have chance to be part of army as 25% if you work hard. One should take this as positive scheme started by government to improve unemployment.

Why don't we gave basic training from the school level, like Sainik schools in every corner of India. Then we can filter the merit this way and put them in college NCC, give the training at the army base for a year (this way we can improve the base). We can filter the best and is cost effective as well. And our youth will have more decipline.. Please pen your view on this idea..

Its good but from a perspective of a common parent in India they will consider their child to become an engineer so they will put him in a normal school but what if later he changes his mind to join armed forces. what will he/she do then ?

I would like to get your attention that these protests are happening because students were waiting for pending recruitments to happen and suddenly the recruitments were cancelled and a new scheme was implemented. I would also like to tell you that these protests will not stop until the government declares that pending recruitments will be completed. And about me I am one of the Indian Air Force enrolment candidates whose Exam, Physical, medical test, Provisional list are completed and we were waiting for our call letters and the joining was cancelled because of the new scheme. I am attesting a document and I urge you to read it so that you can understand my and my fellow candidates' situation.

Unlike the Short Service Commission (SSC) for Officer where you use the young officer for 10 yrs then leave them jobless & without pension. Now on same grounds Govt. has introduced this Agnipath scheme for Jawans...😡😠
