As others have said, the Big Box version of this is FANTASTIC. something like 40 extra buildings means no two games are alike. I'm into heavy euros, but this is one of my favourite quick euros alongside Foothills (a quicker 2-player Snowdonia) and Paris: la cite

Really nice playthrough, I liked the open discussion on strategy while playing. This game is really samey after a few plays but the big box completely fixes that. It's fun to evaluate which buildings combo well with each other and plan a strategy on that.

Definitely a game that absolutely needs the expansions. Each of the 2 expansions adds 4 variable buildings which really open up new strategies. The big box has both expansions and is probably the easiest way to grab them

A:ACBaS Big Box is where it's at. The variety of special buildings keep everything from feeling so samey all the time. We also put out a total of 12 building tiles, per the advanced rules of the Big Box.

@@BeforeYouPlay I don't think it makes a world of difference, but strategies tend to hinge more around the building tiles- racing to build the seemingly more powerful ones and also figuring out which ones would favor your or your opponent's engine.

Naveen didn’t use his first player advantage twice. First was letting Monique get that 6 wood. Then letting Monique get the board extension. Both times, Naveen did actions that he didn’t need to rush for as Monique didn’t have resources to really trouble him.

You need the expansions (buildings) to get replayability and different strategy every time. They bring the game to another level.

This is so tight! It does seem to feel like Agricola in that sense. That game is all about timing to max out the resources you get for each action. It looks more fun than the Caverna spin off.

Love this game and wish I could get it to the table more. As others have mentioned, the expansion/Big Box adds a ton of special buildings and the game tells you to play with either with 4 or 8 of them available in addition to the standard 4 special buildings, which help negate some of that same-y feel. I also have Caverna: Cave vs Cave but prefer this one a lot more. Cave vs. Cave doesn’t feel very much like Caverna or Agricola but rather is more of a small-box engine builder. I joke that All Creatures Big and Small feels a lot more like Caverna than does Cave vs. Cave.

The Big Box really does change things up - so many buildings! That said, you do have to make yourself explore those specific strategies. Up to you how diverse you make your games.

Super nice video! I actually wondered how this 2 players version would work out ! I played Agricola last Christmas for the first time and enjoyed it but did not feel like getting it, I felt I'd rather play some other of my big boxes. But this quick easier version seems like a good idea :)

We always buy the "duel," versions of games because we are lazy and they are quick to set up, LOL. This is definitely one of our favorites. Cave v Cave is fun, an the Le Havre one has a really interesting resource management board. Pillars of the Earth has one we like from years ago, and of course 7 Wonders Duel is great. I really enjoy your channel, and hope you do more of these head-to-head two player games.

I just played for the first time and I really don't get how the segment in the rules "After the 13th sheep, the 11th pig, the 10th cow or the 9th horse, you score 1 extra point for each additional animal." correlates with the table on the box. I get very different results depending on using the rule or just following the chart

@@BeforeYouPlay Ya know, they're both extremely different. It's not like Agricola and Caverna where they're very similar. I think I like Cave v Cave better. It's kind of a lot crunchier in the spacial element and managing resources. Of course both games come in a "Big Box" version which is a tongue in cheek reference since both games only have one expansion. But in addition to the expansion, they come with the new style rocks, reed, wood instead of discs. The expansion for Cave v Cave is great, and a nice to have. I feel like the expansion for All Creatures is a must-have as you get a ton of new buildings and you only lay out like 10 every game, but it opens up a lot of new strategies.

ACBAS is such a nice game, it was painful to watch you guys leave the extension to the 5th round though. I usually build my 1st or 2nd building on the expansion.
