Well, the captain in the first story should have tried to channel his inner-Kirk and cheesed this particular Kobyashi-Maru test. He really should've been more concerned about the threat of a dying human, especially a female who mentions another human coming for revenge. Somewhere on Earth, Elon Musk is laughing his head off. He would be proud to see his Tesla survive the rigors of space. That'd be a neat way to market the durability of his products.
