Exactly this. Look at Hiroshima today. Even if the whole planet was engulfed in nuclear fire (which would take a ludicrous amount of nukes, way more than what we had at the peak of the cold war) if by that time humanity is already a space faring species, we could terraform it back enough to be inhabitable in a relatively short period of time.

Good story, and great narrating, but I can't help but wonder why they didn't bombard them with air strikes and napalm before it got that far. The bugs only had that one swarm, with no air support, and nukes aren't the only bombs available, so why not burn down the entire area before it gets too big to contain?

@@Ryu_D Multiple reasons could be because the hive didn't want to waste biomass. They're not firing gunpowder or materials. That are. mined they're things that are grown. You might only be able to fire X number of rounds, before you have to have that siege Beast to have enough stuff Built back up. Perhaps they were saving an in. Case the enemy attempted to use Area weapons such as bombs and missiles to take out large masses. Perhaps they were saving up their ammo. For a different objective, there is many different reasons why something that has not just limited ammo, but a limited lifespan would save its short.
