“Ssaihanuwar" (싸이하누월) refers to his prev mixtape in 2013. The title actually "sanggwaneopseo" 상관없어 ("It Doesn't Matter") but famous being called as "Ssaihanuwar" because the background vocal is constantly repeating “Ssaihanuwar” (try to find this mix track on other channel) 😎 On Ssaihanuwar he was brags about selling 30 000 copies of BTS debut album in 2013. As a rookie from small company, this standard is really good and something you can be proud of. So in this Agust D mix track (2016), he just brag how huge he made a progress from his rookie era. On Agust D lyrics he said : *Honestly, I’m embarrassed about “Ssaihanuwar” now we sell 500 000 albums a year.* He is roasting everyone who looked down to him when he decide to debut as an idol, leaving the underground rapper title to be upperground rapper. 😎 Edit : i tried my best to write in english. The word "hyung" is pronounced like "young" just throw an h in front. One syllable, think of it like if you were running and you were trying to catch your breath and you said 'young'. And the definition of right, it's a respectful word a male would use to another male he's close to or at least he knows; is familiar with. Like you wouldn't really use it for strangers, but when you know people, you wouldn't call someone "Mr." but you still use a respectful word for someone older, so you use hyung. Literal translation is "older brother". But you would mostly use it for close people. Suga is actually the second oldest in BTS, so five of them call him hyung. I really like the word honestly, it's probably one of my favorite Korean words. But anyway! If you haven't watched BTS *DOPE* with Jonny P, you should, I was watching it this morning and noticed a lot of interesting things happening in the background that I hadn't noticed before, it's a simple single-shot video but it's really cool. D stands for Daegu (Daegu Town). Agust D is 'DT Suga' spelled backwards.

These MixTapes are the best. They all get back at 1. The KPOP Industry because they got shade & it was predicted they would never be Top Idol Band because they were were from Big Hit & not the Big 3 companies. Even the Korean Media ignored their accomplishments and some of the Music Awards in the beginning. 2. The underground Hip Hop/Rap artists basically threw Suga & RM out of the club because they "sold out" to become part of an Idol Group. So, they basically were in a "No Man's Land", so to speak. Imagine ARMYS going thru their day minding their own business and BOOM. Yoongi drops a mix tape and MV one day and another mv a few days later for Give It To Me. Agust D came out in August 2016. Also imagine that about 6-7 weeks after this, BTS dropped the Wings album (album with Blood Sweat & Tears and all their solo songs) and they were releasing short films for each member leading up to the Wings album release in October. It was a WILD RIDE all of 2016 really. Then they won their first Album of the Year and Artist of the Year awards in December 2016 then 2017 ushered in Not Today and Spring Day in February, the Billboard award in May and the highlight reels and Love Yourself: Her album in that order.

This was released just when bts were on the rise of getting well known in korea & worldwide. He was working on this since their beginnings though and that was the time the group esp the rappers were getting so much criticism from the underground rappers & other fandoms (RM & Suga were underground rappers before becoming a part of bts) so they were being called sellouts etc.. There was a certain vid that shows RM&Suga getting insulted right in front of their faces and they tried to answer politely even tho I can see suga really wanting to snap but because those guys were older than them (korea has major issues of being polite to the older people no matter what) so this mixtape is where he poured everything that he wanted to throw at their faces

okay, I have got to do a shout-out to Muish translations on wordpress - some of the best trans for bts songs! - they really go deep into some of the cultural stuff that we miss. I had always liked this song, but once I learned more of the background, I was THOROUGHLY impressed with Mr. Min Yoongi! So what I'll tell you, briefly, is that "Agust D" the song is actually built on a military beat, and throughout the song, Yoongi/Suga/Agust D uses common expressions that they use in the Korean military, like "they call me new thang, here's some stuff from a new recruit" and stuff like that. But Yoongi purposefully chooses a military beat and common military expressions in direct juxtaposition to the message of the song. The song is actually about Yoongi NOT matching the beat to everyone's drums and NOT conforming to a military-like body of people (a group). It's about him being DIFFERENT and standing out - that he's not like everyone else (and that's a good thing!). It really gave me a whole new appreciation for Yoongi's mind and his ability to produce a song like this! Please check out Muish's translations to really understand the songs better!

Younger males call older males hyung ( h + the word young ) they can be in any type of relationship good or bad. Also it doesn’t have to be someone you know for example say I was looking at a picture of a guy on Instagram and I knew he was older but I’ve never met him or talked to him before I could ask my friend hey do you know this hyung its used in many types of situations not just knowing someone personally also when someone is younger then you either boy or girl you’d call them a dongsaeng ( which is pronounced like dong like the O in dOughnut dong-sang) younger females call older females unni ( pronounced like the un in UNderwear and ne in NEat un-ne) younger males call older females noona (pronounced like the word noon + a) and younger females call older males oppa (pronounced like op-pa) I hope this helps a little I’m half Korean so I understand how this can get a little confusing also sorry if my English is hard to understand 💗

Hyungs is pronounced kind of like just the H sound + youngs. It's easiest if you just listen to BTS & other groups when they say "hyung" in the subtitles to hear how they say it.
