I see you like Bjork, deftones and nirvana, so I can recommend to you j-hope 'MORE' and RM 'nuts', they are also BTS' rappers and i think you gonna love them. Keep going. Yay, SUGA! The next song in this trilogy is Haegeum. The third one is Amygdala. If you want to see all of BTS’s rap line, check out Tear. They have a live performance that just hits (the one with the black outfits and English subtitles). For all the group, check out Born Singer (homage to J Cole’s Born Sinner). There is a good performance from their “Proof Live” set. It’s an old song from them, so when they say “3 years” in the performance, it is really more like 12 at this point.

this can be considered both kpop and khiphop. suga/agust d was an underground rapper before joining bts. he produces and writes his own stuff. the rest of his solo trilogy is worht a listen (haegeum and amygdala). if you like hip hop and would like to see more group stuff, i recommend mic drop. fake love is also a good place to start. bts is known for their lyricism (written by the members themselves) so it is important to read lyrics. all the lyrics are official and not autogenerated so yes, they are accurate

@ the music style is hip hop, but its referenced as kpop in general. when people talk about daechwita, its always referenced as kpop. that doesn’t discredit his rapping ability, it just makes him a kpop artist that makes hip hop music as good as (if not better) than any other hip hop rapper

@@rainy.bangtan the K-pop label is stupid and xenophobic to begin with. K-pop is not a genre of music. It’s an industry. It makes less than 0 sense to analyze these labels as if they are talking abt the same thing. And it is only done in order to otherize Korean artists. Hiphop is a genre, putting a k in front of it is just done bc the rapper is Korean instead of American, news flash, someone’s nationality has 0 effect on the genre of their music. Do we call it UK-hiphop when the rapper is British? No? So why are Koreans different? Suga’s genre isn’t kpop (bc that’s not a genre), he isn’t k-hiphop, he is just hiphop. That’s the genre. The language is Korean.

@@RS-oy6bz YEP! Saying that all music that comes out of South Korea is K-pop is the same as saying that all tv shows are k-dramas. Beyond stupid. @@secretyidentity2833 to someone wh regularly listens to k-pop, we know the difference. kpop fans will call it by the genre and dont classify it as “kpop” or “khiphop”. i’m just saying, to other people, like this reactor, who don’t know korean music at all, classify all of it as kpop. it’s like jungkook who makes pop music in all english. obviously, to us, it’s pop music. but in the american music industry, it’s still kpop. his songs are still put on kpop charts, nominated into kpop categories, and referenced as kpop song or kpop artist during interviews. basically what i’m trying to say it that we (as kpop stans) know the difference and to us, this is hip hop. but to other people who don’t listen to kpop will classify this under one umbrella, which is kpop

Actually K-pop is more of an industry rather than a genre K-pop typically consists of groups (and some soloists) of all male or all female artists/performers who are referred to as “idols” The genres within K-pop include r&b, hip hop, pop, edm, and others Suga is a part of the rap line of BTS, which consists of 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. They write compose produce as a group and all as soloists as well…. Since you liked this, I suggest you complete the trilogy with haegeum and amygdala. As artists BTS do such cinematic mvs I prefer to watch since there are always so much symbolism and messages. Enjoy the music then go straight to the highly entertaining DKDKTV DAECHITWA EXPLAINATION. He is an English speaking Korean and the only way to get non pg translations, references, cultural and historical references and to really get what a brilliant writer Suga aka Agust D is. I fell in love with BTS rap line as a pensioner who thought she hated rap.. Doolset is also good( especislly for RMs more poetical lyrics) but for this DKDKTV is a must. Daechwita is Suga confronting his proffessional life. The next one HAEGEUM is confronting Societal norms and our own judgement. The 3rd AMYGDALA is the deeply personal confrontation of the traumas that are the root of Suga/Agust Ds issues with mental health and past suicidal ideation( the box cutter symbolising self harm) it is a beautiful song. Many peoples favourites. All 3 are incredibly clever. To the west BTS is most well known for the happy pop songs they put out post covid to cheer the fans. Jin recently released ILL BE THERE which has a similar purpose but BTS discography covers some of the deepest songs being put out by this generation. Take a catchy song like BAEPSAE with its hilarious choreography. You will find out from DKDKTV its one of BTS scathing social commentaries on the problems facing todays younger generation. They have many songs addressing mental health, sociatal norms, problems, even love songs like HOUSE OF CARDS, or FAKE LOVE are darker more real. Songs of loss, regret, ambition, loss of direction, themes from Jungian philisophy or just fun. Crafted and produced and performed by 7 totally different artists, all stars. Who have both solo and group success. There is no one like them. The industry and media hates them but the worldwide mega fandom ARMY makes that irrelevant. Their votes have brought BTS over 1,000 world wide awards for their discography in 3 languages.

Agust D aka Suga of BTS is a rapper, producer, and artist. I would say he’s a hip-hop artist who is Korean (as well as RM and J-Hope, the other BTS rappers), bc k-hiphop isn’t like them. BTS are global artists, so their competition/peers on the charts and cultural influence are other A-listers like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Eminem, Bruno Mars, etc. BTS members knowledgeable about music and are not label puppets like other acts are. They write, compose, and produce their music coming from real life thoughts/experiences, and speaking on topics that are not typical in kpop or maybe even pop in general, like socio economic disparity/injustices, societal expectations, mental health, and self love. Because BTS do speak on these topics, you might find kpop acts trying to copy the song title/topic in some way as if it’s an aesthetic or trend. Anyway, the reason why I’m a fan is because BTS members are talented, hard working seven individuals who are dedicated to each other as a team that are authentically themselves and are sincere with what they sing/rap about. Their discography as a group and individuals are insane. I know most who haven’t checked them out don’t know this, because they only hear what American radio allowed to play, which is bright pop english songs. They’re good, but their catalog is amazing.

I am happy you enjoyed the track so much. He is SO good. Great producer & songwriter too. Every member of BTS has been developing solo careers spanning a variety of genres (The rappers RM, Suga/Agust D & J-Hope have been doing it the longest) and they are all very good. They have been focusing on those during the last two years while they wait for each other to complete mandatory military service and they reconvene as the full group next summer. Basically they are 8 different (and versatile) musical acts in one, more if you count various “subunits” like the “rap line” (all 3 rappers together) & the “vocal line” (all 4 vocalists together), duets, etc. Their catalog is impressive.

Daechwita: traditional Korean march, played for kings, army movements, etc. The two characters: Suga Rei (tyrant who kills opponents and dissidents) and poor Suga. At the fair, poor Suga shows up with six friends (BTS mention). In the tent, a woman (mentioned by the Army) gives him the key to start the revolution. He and his 6 friends arrive at King Suga's lands without fear. One of the friends holds a drawing of Bang Si-hyuk, 'creator of BTS'. King Suga despises him and sentences him to death. Even tied up, on his knees, he continues singing Daechwita. (Is poor Suga the real king?). The other condemned men join the revolt, singing Daechwita. Finally, the executioner who was supposed to kill poor Suga also joins the revolt and frees him and gives him a weapon, with which he kills the tyrant king. Metaphor: the lower class 'bringing down the system', mentions BTS who started as a small and discriminated group, from a small bankrupt company, who were despised and disdained, but who ended up becoming the biggest group in Korea (and in the world), the kings of the block! In the time of dynasties, the poor would never be part of the elite. Today the BTS that started small is the elite. The achievement was difficult, with a lot of ‘blood, sweat and tears’. They “overthrew” the dominant system of the Korean music industry, as they continue to do until now, overturning the arrogance and prejudice of the global music industry. And the one who gave them the key was the Army. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJLcdqejrr2JptE - explanation Fun fact: at the fair, he bumps into a man and starts a fight behind: it's Jin and JK (BTS members) in a special appearance.

BTS started as K-pop but became so popular globally and grew their fanbase to be the largest, so they’ve transcended K-pop to be the most successful boy band in the world. (And no, “boy band” is not referring to like One Direction or NSYNC). What sets BTS apart? Innovative, sometimes experimental music, strongest rap line, profound and poetic lyrics, positive messaging, authenticity, diverse but synergistic talent of 7 members, and fan engagement. Please continue the trilogy with Agust D’s Haegeum.

KPop is made up of all different genres under that one banner. There is a wealth of music within Kpop. I am 70 and had no idea until 4 years ago when I fell down the BTS rabbit hole. I was so shocked and thought to myself that I have been living under a rock all this time. Over here in the U.S. we are so sheltered from music, tv and film from other parts of the world. I grew up listening to classic rock, grunge, punk, R&B, and classical. My eyes have been opened. I used to hate rap, but now because of BTS, it's my favorite genre. I haven't watched american tv in over 4 years. It's mostly film, tv and music from other countries. BTS was a portal which I discovered many other wonderful groups, tv shows, films that have exceeded my expectations. I am so used to subtitles now, I dont even know I am reading them. Its second nature now. My life is happier now. All ages listen to Kpop. I correspond with other people in their late 70's and a couple of ones that are in their 80's and still have a few that are in their 60's. Listen to Agust D "Agust D" mv, and also Cypher Medley live in Seoul with ft. Supreme Boi. BTS live is all synergy and the energy of the crowd is insane.

K-pop is not a genre of music. It’s a word that simply describes the Korean popular music industry. Within K-pop there as many genres as there are in the US music industry: rap, hip hop, emo, indie, folk-punk, metal, straight pop, R&B, love ballads, stadium anthem rock, experimental art rock, whatever you can think of. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking “K-pop” = “boy and girl bands”. It doesnt. The Korean term for boy/girl band music is “Idol music”. This is just one genre within K-pop, and it is where many of the major Korean artists start out. BTS began as an idol group but quickly outgrew that category. (FYI hip-hop and rap have always been a feature of idol music, since the very beginning in 1992)

Daechwita is hip hop but also K Pop (Korean Popular Music). BTS is the industry's most successful group which started as a hip hop group but evolved into a multi-genre. They have released around 300 tracks as a goup and around 500 if solo member projects are added on. Each member has a distinct style with many high-quality solos. BTS is a rabbit hole which gives you anything from Wembley Stadium performances to collaborations with major artists. Good luck exploring.

There are very good reasons that BTS are the biggest band in the world, full stop. Started at the rock bottom, broke, indie, vlogging and livestreaming. Every one of the 7 member has talent oozing out their pores. All write, produce, compose, sing, and dance. Most play instruments too, and most can also rap, and the 3 members of the official rap line are among the best rap artists in the world. They are hip hop based but cover many, many genres, and have many songs that are fusions of genres. Pop, Pop-rock, rock, rap metal, rap/hip hop, RnB, neo soul, EDM, jazz, ballad, orchestral, citipop, folk, Latin Pop, you name it....they have probably done it, and done it really, really well. They are also all funny as hell, have an unbreakable brother bond together as a family and are the kindest, most genuine, open and honest guys, and love their fans like their family too. Plus, their music is ground-breaking, genre defying, trend setting, life changing music that covers taboo and really important topics (like mental health, socio-political and socio-economic commentary, self-love, female empowerment, social and generational ills, They have broken so many world records that the Guiness World Records already put them in their Hall of Fame years and year ago. They have been together already twice as long as the Beatles were. By every metric possible: records broken, awards won, critical accolades, streaming numbers, views, sales, concert tours - they are bigger than all the rest of KPop combined. In fact they are bigger than S Korea. They are now the most awarded musical group in history (over 1400 awards and counting.) They have 20 albums as a group, 15 albums as soloists among members, and many, many other singles, collabs, OSTs, and covers, making up a discography many hundreds of songs deep. Plus they have many variety and documentary shows, an interview show, travel shows, concert films, short films, webtoons, books and more... Welcome to the BTS rabbit hole. It's an amazing place to dive in and get lost and it will change your life if you go deep enough.

BTS is the biggest & most popular group in the world. They have 9 years together as a group and 2.5 years as soloists while they rotate into the military. They are also the most prolific of any musicians today. They have about 400 songs all together, about 200 in cinematic style, and others in small or large concert settings. While they fall into the general category of k-pop, they offer a wide variety of musical styles, especially since they started their hiatus to work solo. You'll find rap & hip-hop, pop, ballad, latin, EDM, R&B, and more. There are 7 members and they'll be back as a full group in June, 2025.

Hii.. I hope u read this. I just wanna say that, people hardly know this but BTS has a very strong Hip Hop element on their music, especially old school hip hop. 2 of the members came from underground rappers (RM and Suga/Agust D) and 1 from hip hop street dancer (j-hope). So yea.. they're really good. And they really were and still are the students of the game. This list right here are some of their best songs and tracks. Please react to these : 1. *Monster* by RM (og track from Grown Simba, J.Cole) 2. *Hip Hop Phile* (here they pay homage to the legendss. Talkin abt Tupac, Biggie, JayZ, Nas, Rakim, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg (also specifically talkin abt the album Illmatic, The Chronic, Doggy Style and 2002 too) they also mentioned KRS-ONE, Kendrick Lamar, Gang Starr, Pete Rock, CL Smooth, J.Cole and a lot more. And they basically telling their stories of how they got deep into the culture). 3. *Cypher pt.1-4* by the Rap Line (straight up Cyphers, and pt. 1-3 they added some old school Boom Bap typa beat) 4. *Joke* by RM (og track by Run The Jewels, Oh My Darling) 5. *Born Singer* (og by Born Sinner, J.Cole) 6. *Daechwita* by Agust D 7. *Persona* by RM (mixed of hip hop and a lil bit of rock) 8. *Sexy Nukim* by Balming Tiger ft. RM 9. *Ddaeng* by the Rap Line (traditional instrument, mixed with trap beat) 10. *Snooze* by Agust D 11. *Strange* by Agust D ft. RM 12. *Change* by RM ft. Wale 13. *Please Don't Die* by RM ft. Warren G 14. *Look Here* I suggest to check out the lyric videos, or MV with lyrics. Bcs their wordplay is amazing, and also deep. These tracks right here serve Vocal, Raps, Lyrics/stories, instruments, just high quality productions. And honestly some of them are pretty underrated and TRUST ME.. just TRUST MEE You will love them Btw thank you

BTS long outgrew Kpop. ARMY considers Billboard lumping them in kpop ....musical apartheid and just another way to repress them. Suga/ Agust Ds solo tour was left of the list of highest grossing Hip Hop/ rap artists tours entirely. How can you call him pop?

You would have been correct to say "August D", that is how it's pronounced. Also, his other stage name "SUGA" is pronounced "Shoe gah". It's from his favorite position to play in basketball "SHOOting GAurd". This is also how he derived his solo stage name... Agust D is "SUGA" backwards and the Dt are from his rap group before joining BTS. His hometown is Daegu (Daygoo) and his group was called "Daegu Town"... hence Agust D.

BTS music is not K-pop to me. Completely different. I think you will like their live performance - Dionysus. As well as J-Hope's "More."
