Was that a homemade tool you used to press the cups? If so nice I'm gonna make my self one it looks like the washer on the tool is a little bit recessed m'i right? Not flat

any idea why a ritchie logic threadless headset would utterly lock an old marzocchi bomber into the frame? the fork will NOt come loose as if a lock ring is holding it in? i can’t pull the top cap/ring of headset that hold the bearing in? would it be so tight as to not come free with hand level effort?

Screwdriver + hammer. You have to hit it from the inside, just not too hard or you'll destroy the cups.
