6'4" 260lbs here, having owned the Steelcase Gesture if I were to do it again, I'd get the Amia with no headrest instead its much more comfortable for a big & tall person than the Gesture. The Gesture's back rest is too narrow for a Big & Tall person, but I must admit it's got best in class back support. I had the chance to try out the Amia after buying the Gesture and yeah its more comfortable for me. Also, if you do decide to get the Steelcase Gesture, do NOT buy it with the headrest I've never been able to get it to adjust so it feels right so I just don't use it and I wish I could remove it, but you can't after you order one with it. Good luck on your Chair journey everyone!

Just a note on the warranty from Crandle Office chairs, their warranty doesn't cover wear and tear of the chair. So as you use the chair, if the cushion starts to sag or the backrest isn't as firm or the heard rest starts to slip or the gasket looses effectiveness (you know, all the things that would make someone want to return a chair years later) because of normal wear and tear, the warranty doesn't cover it.

@@RedOni_YT but the sayl is literally perfectly made for shorter frames, so on that front, it's good for you on paper. The only real complaints you hear are from taller people that have issue with the top of the backrest digging into their shoulder blades. You shouldn't have that problem at all

Literally spent like 1 entire month trying to decide upon a good ergonomic chair ( i m 178 cm and 81 kg ) and after a lot of research i decided there were 3 final options : Mirra 2 , Aeron and Leap v2 . I spent 4 hours driving just to test all these 3 chairs and i was pretty surprised that the one i liked the most and felt simply perfect on my body was the Leap . If you ask me it felt waay better and supportive than the Mirra 2 and Aeron but every person is different i guess

This is impressively comprehensive! I scored a used Zody from a local store for $100 during a moving sale and I like the chair but I really need a headrest so I might try one of those clamping Chinese ones just to get by for a bit....but I'm saving for either a Fern plus Atlas headrest or an Embody plus Atlas headrest. Just wish I could try them out before ordering since returns are a pain and costly.

Nice video! One genuine recommendation for shorter people that I don’t often see mentioned is to choose a chair with the right **armrest width**. Many chairs have armrests set so far apart that they barely provide support for shorter individuals while typing. For reference, I’m 5'2", and a 16-inch armrest width is ideal for supporting me while I type. This width tends to suit people of similar height. I previously owned a Steelcase Leap V1 with non-adjustable armrest width, which caused a lot of discomfort. 16in armrest width doesn't leave us much options, some I researched qualifed include: Steelcase Leap V2, Steelcase Gesture, Herman Miller Embody, and Herman Miller Sayl. I researched budget-friendly ones too but didn't find ANY. I’d love to know if there are other options, and I hope manufacturers consider this need more for shorter people in the future. I've spent 10+ hours shopping the right chair and feel shorter people are often an overlooked group

I'm 187 cm and tested all available chairs at Staples and Walmart. Only two models felt good for my back: the Staples Rutherford (Luxura) and the Staples Carder. I found a used Carder nearby for $40, so I’ll go with that. The following models were terrible for my back, either pushing my shoulders forward and causing an unnatural curve or featuring headrests that dug into my shoulders on the highest position. Racing-style chairs were also uncomfortable, pressing against my back from the sides: - Staples Hyken - Staples Dexley - Staples Kelburne - Staples Sorina - Staples Lockland - Staples Emerge - A few unknown models from Target and Walmart.

6'4" 250lb. I have neck and shoulder issues due to a pinched nerve and 7 buldging discs so head support is important, also like to have the option to both sit ergonomically correct and sit back and lounge. I hate the racing style chairs and didn't like the anda seat kasier 3 xl. Also didnt like the Steelcase Leap v2/plus as the back dug into my shoulder blades and I just couldn't get the back to get comfortable. Normal logitech embody same issue. Hated the Aeron C due to the hard plastic edges, i also like to sit cross legged and mesh isint great for that. Gesture seat was too shallow. The best back on a chair I've ever used is the serta hensley. Great high back with a large pillow for the neck. The problem is that the lumbar wears out and the front of the seat is too deep and high which puts pressure on the legs. It also has very high non adjustable arms which I ended up turning upside-down to make it armless but that causes elbow pain and I cant play controller games or lounge comfortably. Another issue is the back and seat move together when you tilt and doesn't lock into position. Its just being used because I cant find anything better atm so I honestly just stand at my standing desk most of the time. The staples beautyrest chair was comfortable for lounging but bad for tasking/gaming. Was interested in the fern with the atlas headrest but the gap when the seata pulled forward is a deal breaker. Still looking for a chair with a nice high back and plush head/neck rest that isint bucket style with adjustable arms. Currently looking at the Excebet Big and Tall on amazon and replacing its arms with 3rd party 4D arms. Feel like im never going to find something comfortable. 😢

Excellent video, as always! I currently use the Sihoo M18, and it is the primary reason I went to this channel - to see what are suitable options to replace it. At ~2 meters tall, ~100kg in a WfH position, the chair bottomed out to the plastic within 6 months, rendering it quite uncomfortable. I putchased an aftermarket cusion, for it to be tolerable for longer periods. Additionally, the armrests are very firm and slightly concave (by default), which, unless the keyboard and mouse are precisely aligned with the shoulders, digs into the elbows. The headrest isn't bad, but is positioned above its notches to fit me suitably, so it moves around a bit. The backrest and lumbar support is adequate, not too impressive but no noteworthy drawbacks. I will be replacing it next year, likely with a LeapV2 from Crandall office. For those who use (or plan to use) their home office chair extensively, I would recommend not making the mistake I made and getting a higher quality chair.

Hello, I want to share my experience with the Andaseat Kaiser 3 as a tall person. I bought the XL Grey Fabric version and I had to return it after a week of use. I'm 193 cm/6'4, I weigh about 100 kg/220 lbs, and the chair was genuinely unusable for me. No matter what height or backrest adjustment I tried, I had back and leg pains, I straight up hated the chair. The backrest is terrible, the top of the backrest is tilted in a way it forces me to slouch all the time, and in order for my back to be straight I have to recline so much to a point where I can't even see my screen anymore. The lumbar support is terrible, the adjustments feel like they don't do anything and no matter what position it was in it felt like my back is leaning against an edge of a table, the chair basically doesn't have any lumbar support, because I can't imagine anyone sitting in this chair and actually using the lumbar support. The worst part of the chair for me was the seat cushion, it's extremely firm, especially on the sides, I usually sit with my legs spread and the edges of the seat were digging into the bottom of my thighs, I couldn't fix that by adjusting the height of the chair (probably because of the cushion being so huge), because in order for the seat to not dig into the bottom of my thighs I had to sit basically almost on the ground way below the lowest possible height of my height adjustable table, but that way I couldn't even use the table. My issue with the height adjustment could be caused by the fact that I don't have a footrest, but I don't like footrests so I guess this chair just isn't for me. Also I am not sure about this, but the firmness could be caused by the fabric, I heard the fabric version of the Titan Evo is firmer than the leather version, so maybe it's the same for the Kaiser 3, or maybe the chair is just unusable without a footrest, but I honestly find it hard to recommend this chair to anyone even if you want to use a footrest.

Crazy i was literally just bingeing your channel for a new chair to buy as this dropped, Alright I was really looking into the AndaSeat cause i like reclining but ultimately went with the Leap V2 because i didn't wanna have to upsize to the XL of the AndaSeat as im just about 260 lbs but deal with the issues of it being too long of a seat as i am also 5'9 but the Leap V2 seemed to be an overall versatile chair as i move and change positions constantly along with a really solid warranty for a re-manufactured Chair. Overall great and helpful reviews and documents, keep it up man.

Do you have one with the PostureFit SL? If so, have you tried reducing it a bit, so you can sit back further in the chair and maybe make more upper back contact with the backrest? Just a possible suggestion. I noticed having my PF cranked too high caused a lot of problems with the chair that all went away once I got that adjusted right.

Hi Dan, Could you try the Herman Miller Verus in the future? Due to the import prices to my country, many cheap chairs are greatly increased in price when purchased on Amazon, for example the Branch ergonomic chair that would cost me around $800, at a similar price to the Herman Miller Verus, which has a distributor in my country. I am not going to buy an ergonomic chair anytime soon, but I want to save up so that in the future I can afford to buy one, and that is why I suggest that HM model, as I find it an interesting model and I would like you to review it in the future, also because I enjoy your videos.

Heyyo, thanks for a really great 2024 buying guide for chairs! I am in need of a recommendation for a comfortable chair for standing desk and I will be coding and staring at the monitor all day meaning I’ll be in the chair for long periods of time. I am 5’5 and I’m a college computer science student. My budget is $800 to $1,500. I am looking at the Zody 2 (Digital Knit) and Zody Upholstered (and maybe the Fern Digitat Knit??).
@Ahnestly13 күн бұрын
Hey! So I made a slight error here in that both the Zodys have the Perch mode which is great for standing desks (as I showed with the Haworth Zody Upholstered). Just keep in mind that there is some play in the tilt because of the ability to tilt forward so far in the perch mode. My editor loves the Zody mesh, and I think it's a great chair, but I'm a Haworth Fern digital knit kinda guy bc of how soft the backrest is. Also love lounging back with it (goes pretty far back). Sitting in it right now as I write this (it's at my home office). Hope this helps! If you decide to pick up, please consider using my links! Helps the channel a lot!! Let me know what you decide on
@Namu4Life12 күн бұрын
@@Ahnestly Hello, thanks for the quick response! It sounds like both the Zody and the Haworth Fern have their pros. Since you prefer the Fern for its soft backrest and lounge comfort, would you recommend it over the Zody for long hours of coding and study? Also, how does the tilt ‘play’ in Perch mode on the Zody compare to the Fern’s recline for overall support? I’m trying to decide which would be the best fit for sitting long hours at my desk, especially since I’ll also be using a standing desk. No it doesn’t really change things that much. I got a size C back when I was experimenting with chairs and I don’t know why, but I just couldn’t adapt to it. The B felt so much better. Dan (or any viewers who know), do you plan to review the new Secretlab Titan Evo NanoGen Edition? Also, would you suggest the Crandall refurb Leap v2 with or without the new backrest cushion? I've read that some people commented that it makes them feel as if the padding is pushing them forward in the chair. And am I correct in understanding that, because of the perch function, the Zody has some play when locked in the upright position? Even in chairs without the perch option? Lastly, given that chair makers state that customers void their warranties when they apply aftermarket accessories, does the Atlas headrest do any permanent, noticeable damage to the Fern's fabric when installed?
@Ahnestly19 күн бұрын
Hey! Had no idea about the new NanoGen edition. Reached out to see if theyd be willing to send over for review. As for the Leap v2 with backrest cushion...I personally never thought the Leap v2 had insufficient cushion on the backrest. The seat, definitely, but not the backrest. As for the Zody, yes there is some play, but every chair has some play (no chair is fully locked in the upright lock!). As for Atlas Headrest, I won't speak to the long term since I just don't know, but in the duration I've used it, it seems fine. Also, don't let them fool you - warranty can ONLY be voided if the third party accessory clearly led to that specific failure. For example, if your leg breaks, they can't deny you warranty. Or just take it off before you call and say "headrest? What headrest?"

Ever get more intel on the seat pan depth for the fern? Was it specific to the xbox version or did it get ported to all models?
@Lucas-f7k18 күн бұрын
The seat gap sucks on both versions. It's only a little better on the Xbox version because the leather stretches less. If you are tall and need to put the seat forward your butt will hang off the back. They need to fix this. I like it in many ways over the steelcase gesture but the seat gap is a deal killer. The gesture doesn't do this if that's a factor for you. Also stock headrest ion the gesture is 100% better. The Fern headrest is horrible.

HM Mirra is not a great chair for the money. The armrests droop down so it's not comfortable to rest on them. The seat also ends too early, so you constantly feel like you're going to fall off of it. Maybe shorter, smaller people find it more comfortable, but I'd take a look at the Hayworth Soji.

All 3 chairs utilize similar lumbar support. Padded lumbar pad that can be raised up or down. Not too much customization in those chairs. But 2 are mesh and one is not, so that’s probably where your answer will lie - which of those fabrics you prefer?
