Patricia Highsmith wrote the source material for 'Rebecca' and 'Strangers on a Train' - two favorites of Hitchcock.

Good to know about Strangers on a Train, which is one of my favorite Hitchcocks! Rebecca is Daphne du Maurier, though, a novelist I adore.

Was wondering when you would return to more classics. Read 'The Tunnel' in school, but I think it deserves a revisit. I have had occasion to glance through your novel Small Craft, and your style is reminiscent of Jack London (one of my favourites as well). Good characterization and a concise, engaging style. Not to mention no shortage of that single quality which makes all books great - wisdom. Will get back to it hopefully this weekend. By the by, Stephen Crane wrote The Red Badge of Courage - a story of the American Civil War - and he is one of the few writers who arises from me some envy. It's hard to believe a human turned the phrases he has.

Wow, thanks for the nice words about Small Craft! I always liked that one, but wasn’t sure anyone else ever read it.

@LoganAlbright73 I have read the first 40 or 50 pages, and anticipate to read the rest. Will consider putting up a review of it on my channel.

Likewise I am heavily into the nautical genre, and this collection sounds very interesting! My favorite collection of short stories (some are more novellas than short stories), are by Frederick Forsyth. There are two collections: 'The Veteran' and 'No Comebacks'. Most of them are about revenge and a have a satisfying twist at the end, but they are very character/personality driven as well. I am currently reading the Hornblower series, and I'm on the penultimate one in chronological order.

I've never read a sea story. I'm not a fan of short stories. Good collection of writer's though.
