Ahsoka Episode 2 Breakdown

This second episode was awesome! We have a new galaxy to explore in Star Wars with new villains and powers beyond the Jedi and Sith.
Baylan says that galaxy, Peridea has power that we have never seen before. I believe this is a galaxy with a new set of rules. New people. New powers. Powers beyond the force, perhaps Magic. I think it’s absolutely brilliant how Dave has created another galaxy, many of them in fact, and is introducing new civilizations that make even Baylan, a powerful Jedi who survived Order 66, amazed.
Ahsoka and Hera observe the hyperdrives being dismantled on Corellia to be repurposed to the New Republic, as they learn that ex Imperials work for the new republic, still on pay roll. They were never fired, they all kept their same job just no longer under the Empire. They talk about Sabine becoming Ahsoka’s apprentice again, and Ahsoka is reluctant.
A medical droid attends to Sabine’s wounds, this is the same class of droid that worked on Anakin as he transformed into Darth Vader. Huyang walks in and tells Sabine that Ezra’s lightsaber is actually now hers because she has modified it to her liking. He hands it to her after some encouraging words, and she is going to get serious now instead of being such a rebellious brat.
We learn that these dismantled imperial fleet ships when sold are profitable to fund many different republic projects among other things. As Hera notices the hyperdrive core outside being built, they’re told 9 have been built. This core is WAY too big to be used for any new republic ship. The information is classified and General Hera Syndulla is being denied. Ahsoka asks about the HK assassin droids that could be repurposed here, as they learn a droid of this class does exist here, currently departing on that transport. The traitorous workers scream FOR THE EMPIRE and attack Ahsoka and Hera, as Hera races for the Ghost and Ahsoka jumps out the window facing Marrok. The inquisitor loyal to Baylan it seems, as he holds a red lightsaber.
They fight as Hera chases the hyperdrive core being transported. Chopper tries to find the tracker, as he throws a literal big LEGO piece out, finally finding the tracker. This is hilarious. Marrock can’t take Ahsoka and ends up running away to his or her ship. I have no clue who this is. It could be Barris Offee I think, but I don’t know. Ashoka dodges his lightsaber as it returns to him, she’s in control of all emotions and can sense everything. She’s very samurai. Very one with the force.
Sabine heads back home, lays her Mandalorian armor out like a Samurai, kneels before it which is very ritual like, and cuts her hair. The imperial loyalists on Corellia are arrested. Also, for a fun fact, Corellia is where Han Solo was raised.
Sabine sends a holo to Ahsoka of her in armor. She’s ready.
We’re now at the very end of Rebels where she dawns the armor, observing the mural of the ghost crew, touching Ezra’s face, turning to see Ahsoka there to pick her up. We’re now all caught up and ready to find Ezra…and…THRAWN. Huyang informs them Hera Syndulla has tracked the ship, they’re in Denab system, in orbit around the planet Seatos.
As the hyperdrive cores are being put together, we can see this is HUGE. Clearly something big enough for a massive ship to be launched into hyperspace…or perhaps…open a portal using the power of the hyperdrive cores.

The Corellian Shipyard scenery was absolutely AMAZING. I loved the contrast from dirty, cloudy and dark in the imperial era to sunny and bright under the New Republic

Qui-Gon got stabbed straight through the spine and then was just left there to die for 5 minutes while Obi-Wan and Maul were fighting in a planet where all of the best doctors were probably imprisoned by the Trade Federation. Sabine at worst probably lost a kidney. But yea, Qui-Gon’s force ghost has some serious beef against Disney.

Agree. Jin took one right in the chest at like 65 years old. Was already exhausted. Had to lay there on a reactor floor for a duel to finish. Revas TWO were both looney. As a small child, though the chest and had to hide for probably hours if not days for 66 to wrap up. THEN as an adult taking a similar wound with no medical attention in an abandoned base, fly across the galaxy, taken take on the Lars before chasing a kid across the desert before also carrying him back to have a casual convo with Obi. This one was just terrible. This one was a side hit to a very fit young fighter who received medical attention almost immediately on a planet that considers her a hero of thier liberation so probably got the full red carpet. Although I would say this all could have just been avoided if they just didn't do it. Unless the wound plays a big part in the story later it was mostly for nothing. She could have lost a hand or just got disarmed of the saber and she still takes the L. Realizing she needs her master back, emotionally scarred, does the droid thing to rebuild some confidence.. and bam it goes forward. But this certainly isn't the "her der show ruined" moment a lot of people that want the show to fail are using it for.

Rosario plays Ahsoka perfectly. Her body language and facial expressions are freaking perfect. I was also impressed that Baylan isn’t written as a one-dimensional villain. His last line gave me chills and almost made me tear up because you could feel the conflict within him.

Once you see it you can't unsee it. I'm rewatching both episodes to see if it's like that every fight scene

Looking into the face of danger and not blinking is pretty much a genetic trait of a Mandalorian. That lack of fear is what made them incredible warriors, but also led to their downfall.

@@crouchingtiger9908 Competent warriors, yes. A match for a Jedi, only the best. She didn't have time to don the armor. If she had tried to put it on, the apprentice would have been long gone. Sabine is good, but she's no where near the level of other hunters like Jango Fett and he still ultimately lost to a Jedi. There's a reason they lost the war with the Order all those years ago and that's because force sensitivity and proper training literally makes you that OP.

The Corellian Shipyard was an awesome touch, and Ahsoka's movement and charisma are as amazing as in Clone Wars and Rebels. Filoni and crew truly get what Star Wars fans love, setting their work apart from some other Disney endeavors. Between this show and Andor I am super satisfied.

I really hope they keep Baylan and Shin as morally dubious characters, it’s so much better than having just pure light side/dark side people running around the galaxy. I feel having those shades of grey in between really helps make the universe feel more alive and the characters way more interesting. These guys sure know how to tell a story, it makes Kenobi look like amateur hour.

Sabine was clearly stabbed in her side while Qui-Gon was stabbed right in the middle of his torso. Also, Qui-Gon didn't get any medical attention at all before he died and even then, it took a while for him to actually die while Sabine presumably got medical assistance very quickly. In addition, Sabine was still affected by the stab and took a while to recover. Can't say the same about Reva though lol. Yeah, she was also affected by the stab but she also got stabbed in a much more critical area and presumably got very little if any medical attention.

So many Prequels vibes! Filoni showing some love to The Phantom Menace! Music is phenomenal! The Rebels and Prequels throwbacks are awesome! Pacing is nice so far. The Loth Cat reminds me of Falkor from The NeverEnding Story. Lightsabers have never looked so good for Disney Star Wars. Not a fan of Sabine being a Padawan, but whatever. Oh yeah, Shin Hati is hot!😍 By far the most interesting antagonists that we’ve had in Star Wars in a long time! 8.5/10 for me so far! Thank you Dave Filoni!😁

Honestly, Sabine was the best part of both episodes besides Baylan and Shin. She’s always been rebellious but she learns from her mistakes. It makes sense that she wouldn’t be on good terms with Ahsoka. Ahsoka abandoned her after promising her tutelage, and this came directly after losing Ezra. It’s like a slap in the face telling her she’s not good enough. After losing the map and her talk with Huyang, you can see her resolve strengthen to find Ezra and mend the bridge with Ahsoka. Much like when Hera asks when you know someone’s ready, “You just know, and so do they.” I loved how that scene of Sabine cutting her hair before her helmet mirrored Kanan’s scene from Rebels.

There were a few scenes where Shin Hati looks at Baylan when Elsbeth does/says something that remind me of the way the Cobra Kais sometimes would look at John Kreese after a request. Like, are you sure I should be doing this? There is 100% uncertainty there.

The beings from a different galaxy sound eerily similar to the Yuazahn Vong. Filoni has a hard on for legends stuff so I feel like they could be included, perhaps heir to the empire and the vong invasion will be combined in some way.

In the control center on Corellia, Ahsoka lops off one of the Empirels hands before killing him, disarms a second Emp and kills her, then force pulls the thirds weapon aside in time for Hera to blast her. It was only a few seconds of action, but so incredibly choreographed, showing incredible skill and team work from both women.

Connecting to the newer 'Thrawn' novels, I think the race from outside the SW galaxy that built the map shrine might be the Grisk. As told in those 'Thrawn' novels, Thrawn himself was sent to the known Galaxy from the territories of the Chiss Ascendency to investigate if the Grisk were planning an invasion. While there, Thrawn met & teamed up with Anakin to destroy a battle droid facility on the planet.

If there was gonna be a clone wars flash back with Anakin and Ahsoka it will be that episode. Dave Filoni is directing that one personally. I’m hyped bruh.

Great video! I think Dave bringing in the idea of multiple new galaxies gives such a new perspective to the whole of Star Wars. This definitely opens the floor for many more tales to be told and stories to be created! Properly intertwining interstellar/intergalactic travel into Star Wars will be really fascinating as, like you said, it creates so many more possibilities. The species from the other galaxy has to be the Rakata or Yuuzhan Vong. This star map looks just like the one from Kotor and Star Wars in the past few shows has been hinting at them specifically in the andor series in that relic shop. I know the Rakata werent from a different galaxy but there is more evidence of them being this ancient people than the Vong. But the part about them being from another galaxy does make me think its Yuuzhan Vong.

Theory just thank you, you are the first person who can be critical when its deserved of Star Wars to actually be honest about this show, like you I really enjoyed it I have been dismayed how others who at one time were like you fair with their cirticismn have desencend into complete apathy and to quote Kreia Apathy is death and thats what they seem to want gleefully all thier passion and love for SW has gone. @isthatajojoreference. the pacing of Andor was slightly better early on and then just totally fell off. Immediate start was not terrible. But for arguments sake, compared to Daredevil for instance, that shows 1st couple of episodes absolutely destroys this. It's not an amazing start by any means. Especially when people like Theory have to call out certain basic things like how a lightsaber kills things. 😒 So far it's not going to be a classic show man. I just don't see how they are gonna pull this off work their style. Honestly man, it's been utter trash. Only things Disnry has out out that's been good is Rogue One and Mano sea. 1-2.

Sabine wa snot stabbed in the stomach like Qui-Gon. It was her side. Plus, she was immediately rushed to the hospital, whereas Qui-Gon was lying on the floor for a good while. And Once again, Ray Stevenson did an outstanding job ad Baylen. You yell just how much depth this character has just from the first 2 episodes

Also if you watch how she fights it's almost fun for her and if you look at her skin its almost as pale as Morgan's which could indicate a possible connection to the nightsisters. I dont trust her one bit and I think Balan should be more careful how much he reveals to her.

​@@ZenMonkeyGod That is an interesting concept. I would be interested if they took this approach. After being put into the new suit, Vader tortures Barriss, because of what she did to Ahsoka. In this, Barriss could wish that Obi Wan had finished Anakin of Mustafar. This may go against Vader's desire to stamp out any memory of Anakin, since, even if he wanted vengeance for Ahsoka, it would mean a connect to his past self. I think he would just kill Barriss. On another note, if Barriss was replace Reva, and Reva's arc and motivation would need to be modified. Knowing that Vader was Anakin could be possible, but I would consider this idea instead. Being that Barriss was most likely in the Republic prison, she would probably be torture severely, until became an inquisitor or died. Her motivation would be this, after some time in the Inquisitorious, kill the Jedi, because this allowed everything to fall apart. So she would ruthlessly kill any she found. Add what you want for most of the she, but that is how you could have done the Reva concept better.

I also find it interesting that whatever Elsbeth us building is called the Eye of Sion. This is likely related to Darth Sion, a Sith Lord from Legends (Dave Filoni loves putting Legends material back into Canon from time to time), but may be a coincidence. I feel like we may get a scene where we at least see Darth Sion in the World Between Worlds (if that's in the show like we think it is) or at least hear one of his quotes from The Old Republic.

Qui-Gon got stabbed straight through the spine and then was just left there to die for 5 minutes while Obi-Wan and Maul were fighting on a planet where all of the best doctors were probably imprisoned by the Trade Federation. Sabine at worst probably lost a kidney. But yeah, Qui-Gon’s Force Ghost has some serious beef against Disney. Rosario plays Ahsoka perfectly. Her body language and facial expressions are freaking perfect. I was also impressed that Baylan isn’t written as a one-dimensional villain. His last line gave me chills and almost made me tear up because you could feel the conflict within him. Honestly, Sabine was the best part of both episodes besides Baylan and Shin. She’s always been rebellious but she learns from her mistakes. It makes sense that she wouldn’t be on good terms with Ahsoka. Ahsoka abandoned her after promising her tutelage, and this came directly after losing Ezra. It’s like a slap in the face telling her she’s not good enough. After losing the map and her talk with Huyang, you can see her resolve to strengthen to find Ezra and mend the bridge with Ahsoka. Much like when Hera asks when you know someone’s ready, “You just know, and so do they.” I loved how that scene of Sabine cutting her hair before her helmet mirrored Kanan’s scene from Rebels. I think Sabine getting stabbed was fine because it was so close to the edge of her stomach, not the center like Reva and the GI, but it definitely is weird how I think the bad batch and BoBF are the only Disney+ shows to not have someone stabbed in the torso. The Corellian businessman who spoke with Ahsoka and Hera was portrayed by Peter Jacobson, who played Dr. Taub in the House MD series from 2007-2012. 😊 So many Prequels vibes! Filoni showing some love to The Phantom Menace! The music 90s is phenomenal! The Rebels and Prequels throwbacks are awesome! The pacing is nice so far. The Loth Cat reminds me of Falkor from The Neverending Story. Lightsabers have never looked so good for Disney Star Wars. Not a fan of Sabine being a Padawan, but whatever. Connecting to the newer 'Thrawn' novels, I think the race from outside the SW galaxy that built the map shrine might be the Greek. As told in those 'Thrawn' novels, Thrawn himself was sent to the known Galaxy from the territories of the Chiss Ascendency to investigate if the Grisk were planning an invasion. While there, Thrawn met & teamed up with Anakin to destroy a battle droid facility on the planet. Hey, theory I know we have an ongoing theory about Marrok being Galen Marek, but noticed something else, Huyang and Ashoka have a similar dynamic to Galen and Proxy. The pacing went well, with amazing scenery and backdrops. Every actor/actress did a spectacular job! There were a few scenes where Shin Hati looks at Baylan when Elsbeth does/says something that reminds me of the way the Cobra Kais sometimes would look at John Kreese after a request. Like, are you sure I should be doing this? There is 100% uncertainty there. I loved how the inquisitor and the HK droids stood completely still before engaging in a fight. Morgan’s ship looks extremely like a Republic hyperdrive ring, perhaps it’s built this way to retrieve Thrawn and his certainly damaged flagship, to Chimaera? Rakatan Empire got an Easter eggs in Andor BUT... The Zeffo have been heavily hinted at in the Jedi Survivor games and Batch Batch S2 which Feloni is more involved with.. My guess is it will be the Zeffo

As far as Sabine surviving her 'saber wound, there are some key differences between her and Reva/the Grand Inquisitor in Kenobi. With the Grand Inquisitor, all we got was some halfassed fan-theory explanation about Pauan physiology. Reva just survives with no explanation whatsoever. Both times. Without receiving any medical attention. With Sabine, we see that it's absolutely a life-threatening injury which takes her quite some time to recover from (perhaps days), even with the best available Star Wars medical science. Second, she was rushed to the hospital immediately, and it's unlikely she'd have lived if that were not the case. A character getting f*cked up with a lightsaber, surviving, and still being believable comes down to context, and thus the writing. Sabine surviving is believable due to what I've mentioned above, Reva and the Grand Inquisitor just sort of "walking it off" is much harder to swallow. It's the old "show, don't tell" rule in action. The first two episodes of Ahsoka are better written than the entire Kenobi series, simple as that.
